Earl Campbell: Today’s running backs look average

A great D is essential too. Nearly all those teams had an elite defense AND QB. Notice that GB didn't win it this year, with their defensive slide. NE hasn't won it ever since their defense has started to tank. Also recall that NO and INDI, who usually tend to struggle on that side of the ball...

Earl Campbell: Today’s running backs look average

Are these guys envious of the new guys' fame and fortune or something? Today's running backs are better than ever. AP, McFadden, Foster, Gore, MJD, Rice, Jackson, Forte, Turner, Sproles, Lynch, Mccoy. Wow. Honestly if AP played in Jim Brown's or Earl Campbell's era he would own every record...

    Stephen Hill

Also consider he had the worst QB in the ACC throwing to him. I doubt he makes it to 30, but I hope the Niners pick him up. Great athlete, enormous potential. It worked out for us when we drafted Vernon Davis, the ultimate work-out warrior. :doot: Doubt he makes it to 30 though, especially...

    David Carr

What did you think of him as a prospect coming out of Fresno St.? An interesting little tidbit I read this year is that Harbaugh, who was then an offensive assistant for Oakland, had Carr graded out as a 6th rounder. He had Romo as a 2nd rounder. Wonder what the league consensus was for him...

    Ted Ginn Jr.?

Average receiver. Elite PR/KR. Probably the best in the NFL behind Patrick Peterson and Hester. ST and field position are huge for the 49ers formula for success, so it is really tough to imagine SF not retaining him.

    49ers Aldon Smith Sack Celebration

Should be interesting to see if he breaks the rookie sack record, which is 14.5 set by Kearse. Aldon has 13 with two games left to play. my favorite sack of his (beastmode bullrush): http://www.nfl.com/videos/san-francisco-49ers/09000d5d824bde2b/49ers-defense-sack-7-yd-loss

    Kubiak 2011 coach of year?

You wanna go down that road? Please, be my guest. Because by your logic, Jim Caldwell is a great HC. He lead the Colts to a 13-0 record before resting his starters and an appearance to the Super Bowl. That must be because the Colts needed him in addition to Peyton Manning to get that far, right...

    Kubiak 2011 coach of year?

And it only took about 6 years and the best DC in the NFL to do so.

    Kubiak 2011 coach of year?

Um, except it does. It is very relative and puts things into context. I'll use an example to demonstrate my point. Let's say a coach of an NBA franchise hasn't had a winning season before. His team ranks near the bottom of the league in wins ever year since he took over. It is his 8th year...

    Kubiak 2011 coach of year?

:homer: The Texans are LEGIT this year but I haven't even heard of Kubiak as even in the discussion until I glanced over this thread. It is awesome that they have played through such significant injuries, and I do think Kubiak deserves credit for helping them through that, but to think of him...

Karlos Dansby is the best LB in the NFL

.....according to him :laughjump: "I'm better than everybody.....I just haven't had the recognition." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8241b559/article/dolphins-lb-dansby-can-do-it-all-just-ask-him?module=HP11_headline_stack

    Jim Schwartz vs Jim Harbaugh

Also, what a lot of people don't consider is that JS was talking **** to Harbaugh during the game. After JH threw the challenge flag on an apparently non-challengable play, JS was yelling some ish to him across the field. JH looked pumped and didn't do the most polite thing, but Schwartz looked...

    Who goes #1 overall?

Why, in your opinion, is it Gabbert instead of CN?
  15. SF49erFaithful

    Who goes #1 overall?

I'm just going back and forth with the idea of a QB at #1. I mean, Carolina needs a QB pretty bad, or appears to at least (Jimmy Clausen the answer??), but the top-end talent at that position is just so poor this year that I am not convinced they will go that direction. On the other hand, the...

    Who goes #1 overall?

As you all know, it's plausible that about 6 different players could be the first pick this year. So, who is the pick and why?

    Dre Whips Finnegan

I agree with everything you're saying. But still, how does that warrant a total beatdown? CF talks a lot of **** and is the asshole in that relationship....who cares? Since when is trash talking illegal? And of course people from other MBs in the division will agree with you, b/c as a trash...

    Dre Whips Finnegan

How about you read the sentence DIRECTLY AFTERWARDS.

    Dre Whips Finnegan

Ya, CF was being an instigator, I agree. I don't deny that CF is a ****-talking, dirty player. I'm merely arguing that his actions didn't warrant that beating. Nor that it was all his fault.
