4. Daymeion Hughes DB
Man...I don't think there is any chance he is there in 4th round. I know his combine was poor, but consider production on the field. He played great against USC...slowed up Jarrett (5 rec, 66 yards). By contrast, Jarrett lit up Leon Hall, who had all the measurables...
I like the Calvin johnson, pick with the talk of Moss to Green Bay. Best player by far in my opinion in this draft. This draft looks like a real possibility barring any movement among the top 8.
Branch to Skins is the only thing a little surprising.
One thing a lot of people are forgetting. It probably won't happen, but the Raiders O-Line is horrid. I am unclear on how many, butI think I had two and a half sacks against them last year.
Any guarantee they won't look at Joe Thomas at #1?
Wouldn't mind picking up Woodley in round 2 if we don't go DE in round 1, obviously. Great pass rusher and like bah said - under appreciated
Marty will still get 3 million or so, I believe, to stay home and do nothing.
Anybody like John Sullivan from Notre Dame? I think he could be a late round steal for someone. Two years in pro set offenses and under Charlie Weis. He might be a possible 4th/5th round sleeper.
Any idea where this kid ranks as a punter? Chad Stanley was disappointing to say the least. What round is kid projected to go in? If we are able to acquire some additional picks, why not get a solid punter.
In reference to throwing it 85 yards and 50 yards on one knee...who cares.
Unfair to link the two, but Kyle Boller had a similar arm. I saw footage of him on one knee throw the ball almost through the goal posts from the 50.
Not to say Boller = Russell by any stretch.
Big arm does not...
1. Send a blank check to Lance Briggs
2. Michael Lewis in FA
Too early for me to spec on draft or cuts - Will Spencer make it back? If so, would love to see a LT picked up somehow and move Spencer to right tackle
Anyone have a guess on how many roster spots turnover between now and September 2007? What would be a good over/under? 20 changes?
Makes to 2007 or not:
McKinney?
Travis Johnson?
David Carr?
The secondary (except Dunta)?
Chad SHANKley?
Seth Payne?
Kailee Wong?
Any thoughts?
Coaching...Kubes is the right guy long term. WhatI don't get is the inability (or "want to") to adjust schemes. Zone blocking is not working right now. I know this is the system and will be in the future. But, in watching limited Dallas action this year, it appeared that teams that lined up...
I think one thing that is an absolute is to run downhill at Dallas. They are extremely fast from side to side. Stretch plays won't be very effective I don't think. Some teams have had success just going hat on hat and pounding them. That is what I would do if the score allows.
Defensive...
I agree Grid...what the heck are they doing without TE help or at least chip with a RB? It's not like Jason Taylor has a history of getting to the QB in this league!
The playcalling at the end of the game, when we throw deep to AJ on a 2nd down was definitely ugly IMO. Stopped the clock and forced us into a long third down situation. I understand the "go for the jugular" mentality, but I felt that we should have either been committed to run-run-run and punt...
About the only play I saw was just before the half. He caught a quick out pass, and was in the open field for a bout a second and a half. DeMarcus Ware (former 4-3 D/E turned outside LB in 3-4) ran him down and tackled him with a swipe of the arm. So no, he did break any tackles that I saw.
I love Armstrong also...may not be fast, but he caught every freaking pass thrown at him that I remember. I really don't remember him dropping a catchable ball.
