That would depend on the tenure the FA has. It depends on how many years the vet FA has been in the league. The answer would typically be yes, the 7th rounder is cheaper.
The pertinent question is which players did the Texans get with these moves? Were they productive players? Did they make any impact? If not, O'Brien was making moves just to make moves. "Look at me!! I'm making moves!!!".
A Super Bowl mission. I actually posted that just to be controversial, but I would give up a lot to get MHJ. He's going to be a serious stud in the NFL and the Texans have plugged a lot of holes.
Clowney has become a one-year contract vet. Evidently, he's not that great, or he would be signed to a LTC. Injury prone and, according to some, not a good locker room guy.
Why?
I'd trade my entire draft to get MHJ. The Texans have plugged a lot of holes. Having CJ throwing to M in the pros, with his other weapons, wouldn't be fair.
Caserio doesn't seem to like signing FAs to long term contracts. I would've preferred 4 years/96 mil. Just have to see what the guaranteed $$ looks like. That would make Hunter 32 when the contract is up, He doesn't have a bad injury history and the Texans top 2 players are on rookie contracts. 9jk
It's hard to get 3 seconds when the defense isn't blitzing. He needs to get it out on average at 2.5 seconds. A QB with elite processing and great having great play calling will take you further than an elite RB during a blitz. Having an elite RB is a great thing to have but is not a must have...
