Will we see more Molden?

I think this kid is going to be special, and when Dunta comes back, I think he can move into the number 2 CB spot with Fred Bennet as our FS or Nickle. How much of him will we see on Sunday? I think with the way our secondary performed a week ago some changes need to be made.

Here is the question the coaching staff must answer. Is he substantially worse than Jaques? If not, then he should go out there. Molden likely has a brighter future, and if he is gonna make basically the same mistakes oughta get some game experience.

the rookie corner for dallas seems to be working out.....i would sure like to see him out there if he is not substantially worse than Reeves.

It's hard to say now - because Bennett played as bad if not worse than Reeves against the Steelers... of course we all know Bennett is better, but so far through one actual on-the-field game that counts in the regular season - Bennett was terrible... but so was everyone else.

What factual evidence do you have that Molden can handle the number 2 corner position, or heck even the nickel? We have not seen Molden on the field and it's a little too early to be talking about moving our top corner right now (Bennet) to nickelback. We should never count our chickens before they hatch.

I trust that he will get more time when he earns it in practice. Bennett moved up the depth chart at the end of last year when he had earnt it, I suspect Molden will do the same.

In the meantime, Kubiak will play those whom he believes will give us the best chance of victory.

I'm starting to really lighten up to the thought of having 3 starting caliber CB in our back-field. Good teams, like the Cowboys and Chargers, have drafted CBs in the first round this year, despite having 2 quality players as their starters already. Now and days you need 3 good CB in this league, and teams are starting to take notice of this.

On to Molden, this kid had been hyped up pretty well during the combines and draft. We have not seen much from his this pre-season or at all in the first game, although he had a good TC, so we can't really tell how good or green he is. I wonder though what Wilson role with this team will be after Dunta comes back. He has experience at FS, but has express his interest in playing CB after leaving NE. We could really use some help with safety coverage, so I hope one of our DB step up and fill that FS role, whether it's Molden, Dunta, or Wilson, whatever.

I hope we see him pretty soon, he can't be any worse than whats already out there!

Our problem doesn't appear to be at CB. It appears to me that the safeties and LBs are thoroughly confused in the middle two-thirds of the field. I mean, we drop 7 guys, get good pressure and Hines Ward is consistantly open on a hook rout inside the slot... That has to be on the safeties and LBs.
Reeves hardly looked like the problem against Pittsburgh. He actually caused Ben Rothlisburgers' only incompletion on a very good play, I think.

I noticed that the LB's and safeties seemed lost... So here is $64,000 question...Is it the lack of talent at those positions or is it that our guys are thouroughly confused because...nobody is quite sure what or defensive scheme is? Is is the players or the coach or both? and I know this subject has been talked to death, but I am just truely sickened by what I see happening on both sides of the ball, but especially on defense.

I don't understand why people think we should be putting CBs at S.

Our run defense is bad enough without weakening out tackling ability even further. Lets also face the facts none of our corners are exactly shut down, who says their coverage at S will be any better especially since they will have different responsibilities.

You also have to remember that we don't run FS/SS, we run a dual safety system which means both need to cover and hit.

Yea, Mike Jenkins made some nice plays in that Monday Night Football game. He saved a touchdown on one play.

I hope we see Molden atleast enough to give us an idea of where he is this year. I can't remember seeing him in the first game. When Dunta comes back it will be another obstacle for Molden to climb for PT, so Molden needs to work hard to get out on the field in the next 6 or 7 games.

Yea I'm sure corners never convert successfully into safeties, they just aren't very physical against the run!

Oh wait a minute, former CB in college, Tanard Jackson was both, successful in his transition to safety, and is a very physical player. I'm sure there is PLENTY of more CB that convert into successful S, but he is the only one, currently, that just pop instantly into my head.

and btw, when did it became a stereotype to assume that all CB just isn't physical in run defense? There are plenty of CBs, both in the league and college, that are excellent run defender.

I think Reeves should be nickle. Faggins is playing fairly well. We need Earl back on the field, he gave us a dominating force at SS that we lacked at Pitt.

The only thing I know is that he was personally worked out by the DB coach, and seeing as how he was one of the few to keep his job after Capers left, I'm assuming he's worth his salt. He says Molden is going to be good and that's all I have to go on. Our secondary as it is isn't working. If they play this Sunday how they did against Pittsburgh, then some changes should be made.

Molden's hips are great for a corner. He has great technique, I guess he's just not used to the speed or strength of the game.

I'm guessing they'll start working him in by the fourth game. IIR correctly that's what they did with Fred Bennett. They stuck with Faggins Last year. They'll stick with Reeves until he's hurt or quits. If they are putting up with Reeves, there has got to be a reason. The one I'm dreading is watching Greenwood and Diles locked one on one with Chris Johnson. In Reeves defense, Hines Ward was on fire. He had an all Pro day. Mr. McNair should cut him a check for the lessons he gave out. He took our corners to school.
