Something to keep in mind

something i've just recently realized about this coming draft and next years is that next years draft will be heavily stout with OT's here's just a short list of possible first rounders

D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Virginia
Mike Jones, Iowa
Jeff Byers, USC
Justin Blalock, Texas
Eric Winston, Miami, FL
Marcus McNeil, Auburn
Jonathan Scott, Texas
Andrew Whitworth, LSU
Adam Stepanvich, Michigan

the other o-line positions are less attractive in next years draft so it might in the best interest of the Texans to draft either a Gaurd or Center in this years draft and wait one year for that franchise LT.

as for other positions in next years draft that look especially promissing

Defensive tackles look promising with players like:

Rodrique Wright, Texas
Gabe Watson, Michigan
Orien Harris, Miami (FL)
Kyle Williams, L.S.U.
Haloti Ngata, Oregon
Claude Wroten, L.S.U.
Le Kevin Smith, Nebraska

other players to note are:

Ahmad Brooks, Virgina
Mathias Kiwanuka, Boston College
Matt Leinart, USC
Brad Smith, Missouri
Reggie McNeal, Texas A&M
DeAngelo Williams, Memphis
Darnell Bing, USC

just something i thought i'd pass along to ya'll...especially us who want the texans to draft alex barron

This is why I hope the Texans can completely trade out of the first round for a 2nd round pick, 4th round pick, and a 1st round pick in next year's draft.

My favorite OT prospect for next year, assuming he comes out early, is Ryan Harris out of Notre Dame...He is a little small now at 6'5", 280, but he has the frame to add bulk and not lose his quickness...Scouts rave about his technique and footwork...A few years back, he had his own special on MTV that highlighted his training regimen...I think he and D'Brick both have the potential to be dominating LTs in the future...

well i'm not so sure about that but half the OT's in next years draft have the ability to be a franchise LT...if Eric Winston fully recovers and has a very productive senior year at Miami there is no reason in my mind that he isn't a top 5 pick...as for Ferguson, Scott, McNeil, and Whitworth before they decided to stay in school they were all up there with Barron and Brown for the top tackles this year...anyone of them with a strong senior year can be an elite prospect next year...and given the amount of tackles taken early in the draft each year we could be picking at the 20th pick and still end up with a franchise LT for a decade

Aside from the better OT crop next year, I think the Texans would be in a better position to draft a player that may not make an immediate impact next year, assuming the people that need to step up do...

You know, now that I think about it, we don't necessarily have to trade for another #1 pick next year (it would be nice, but not necessary). We might have an easier time trading down from our 2nd round pick this year for a lower 2nd & picking up a 3rd next year, & then trading one of our 3rd's this year for a 2nd next year. That'd give us two 2nd's & two 3rd's. Surely, we'd be able to package some combination of those picks to move up into the 1st. Thus, giving us two 1st round picks next year. Maybe we could get lucky & land a franchise LT & a stud DT.

I just think Wright or Ngata are gonna be NEEDS next year. Its gonna be sean taylor all over again.. but im gonna be the one with the man crush.

of we make the playoffs i dont think either will be there. If we dont then there is a possibility we could get one. I have a feeling next year both will go in top 20

Ill even go so far as to say if the O line is costing us games and we arent winning. Put in Banks for the year, no sense in our franchise QB risking injury from an inept OL
