Domonique Foxworth being traded in next day or two

Could he be coming here? Anybody have any thoughts on this? I only ask because of the Denver connection.

Denver Broncos CB Domonique Foxworth will be traded in the next day or two. He was held out of practice Monday, Sept. 1, while the deal is finalized.

What spare pieces would we have to send back the other way?

Also I think we have invested too much in Reeves and in the draft to bring someone else in.

That's a good question. If it's us, I would think it's just a late round draft pick, but you never know.

Shaun Cody a bronco? I just heard on the radio......

It was leaked that the Lions are talking to the Broncos and the traded offered was Shaun Cody for Foxworth

he played DT for the lions but never panned out, but he was a standout DE at USC……huge move if we get Cody my guess is he’d be tried at DE first.

That's too bad, he would've supplanted Reeves for the #2 CB just by putting on a Texans jersey.

They are young vinny. they aren't garbage. And....they have one, an iron man , who doesn't fit the system.

I never said they were garbage so don't turn this around on me. If you think we have some sort of deep value here tell me what kind of trade value our Guards have...and Pitts does fit the system. He is probably going to be the best player on the line this season.

i like our guards. if weary had come back healthy i would have been extatic to have him as our backup G. the fact that Studdard made the team suggests that i don't know what the hell i'm talking about so disregard this post.

but i like pitts and brisel and weary as our guards. studdard can suck an egg. he's awful.

We seem to have a pipe line to Denver and they've seen first hand what we have...Value...who knows.

Y'all love Pitts and I do too....he can't make blocks on the second level, At best he is a phone booth guard. He doesn't fit the system and the out come will be inevitable. Just as it was for Salaam. Right now he has value. It would be best for both parties if they they moved on. Either we are or are not a ZBS team. Kinda like being pregnant. I can't remember the last time Chester Pitts blocked someone down in space on the second level. You see it next time he starts, be sure to let me know.

You never answered my question because they have no trade value. On Pitts, you don't have a clue to what you are talking about in my opinion. Pitts is more finesse than mauler....He is 310 lbs right now and always has been more of a finesse guy even when he was playing in his 330's. He gets to the second level better than any of the other linemen.

btw, I saw the last Denver game on NFLn last night and Foxworth was awful.

Foxworth is going to Atlanta:

Broncos Trade Dominique Foxworth to Falcons for Seventh-Round Draft Pick

The seventh round pick turns to a sixth round pick if Foxworth re-signs with Atlanta.

You know, I wouldn't have had a problem making that sort of deal. Foxworth isn't all that, but neither is our current secondary.

I'm going to disagree. If our current secondary isn't all that then I can't think of a good reason why I'd want another player who fits right in with them. Our secondary is going to suck, we're going to need Mario and Amobi to bring vicious pressure just to stand a chance of being competitive and we'd best just get used to the idea that we're going to be cursing CB's a lot until Dunta gets back.

Now, on that subject of Dunta coming back. Will he come back ready to play in 7 weeks? Will we be plugging him into the secondary and then following a week or two see our weakness become a strength? If so do we have the makings of a second half run?

I have a hard time seeing Dunta coming back at full speed this season. Just the knee injury alone was a pretty bad one.

I dunno. Maybe it is my experience with the Kailee Wong situation, but I suspect if Dunta comes back this season, he won't be the player that we know. Wong took a few snaps as a comeback player, but he wasn't his old self and at his age, he retired.

He had a particularly bad game, from what I've been told from my Denver friend. Even so, he likes him better than Reeves. FWIW.

I know and for the most part I feel the same way. It's like we've been down this road before and we know where it goes. What keeps dragging me back to that unreasonable optimism is the progress reports we've all been fed and the almost obsessive way Dunta seems to be approaching his return. I know that I shouldn't expect much when he comes back but I have this funny feeling that he's going to exceed my expectations and that may not be Dunta playing as his old self but it's almost certainly going to add some spring to the step of everyone else back there and I'm sure a 75% Dunta is still 20% better than a 100% Reeves.

Also by the time we get to Dunta's return the team might have had a chance to work Moldon into the mix. I think if we can not be dead in the water by the halfway mark of the season we might see a real push in the second half. That first 8 games is going to be tough to watch though.

Agreed. People are real quick to try and throw Pitts to the wolves when he has been really good on out line.

Foxworth says that the Texans were in the running for his services, along with KC and ATL-from ESPN blog:

How the Foxworth trade went down

That phone call ended a long day for Foxworth. It started Monday morning when he was summoned into coach Mike Shanahan's office. Shanahan told Foxworth that the Broncos were talking to seven or eight teams and that he would be traded in the next day or so. Foxworth, who earlier this year said he heard rumors that he would be traded to Detroit or Cleveland, was told to go home and await the deal.

After a fairly quiet afternoon, Foxworth said things got heated up in the evening. He was in constant contact with his agent Brian Mackler, who was in contact with the Broncos and interested teams. Foxworth said it came down to the Falcons, Houston and Kansas City. Foxworth said the Chiefs wanted him to sign an extension for one year. His contract is up after this season and he is a free agent. He said he didn't want to sign a one-year deal, and he didn't know how well he fits into the Chiefs' defensive scheme.

In the meantime N.E. took no time in signing Deltha O'Neal to a deal after being cut by Cinci.

No worries. What was his future here going to be anyway?

We spent a ton of money on Reeves and don't forget this is DRobs contract year. If DRob does not get an extension he will get slapped with the franchise tag next year.

I think most of us agree that DRob is in the same sentence as a Samuel or a Clements.

Don't be surprised to see DRob sign a contract that pays him 8-9 million a year.
