Report: John Lynch wants to leave Broncos

...that Lynch is done with the Broncos and they gave him the ok to "explore other options". Do we end up with yet another former Bronco or are we set at safety?

ummm... does that mean he's looking at other teams or seeing if ABC/CBS/Fox/ESPN has any job openings?

I don't see him being able to find a home here.

I agree. I was just posting as information and kinda being tongue and cheek about how a lot of former Broncos end up here. Although if you're going to get a former Bronco he's not a bad one to get.

I like Lynch. He is old, and we are pretty set on SS. But I would still find room for him.

Boo hoo, we run the same system. We'll continue to get their players as long as they do. Get used to it.

Former Bronco's players have helped get the team to where it is. Lynch was a monster player for a long time, if he still has some gas in the tank it would be crazy not to take a look at him if he wants to come here.

thing I hate is the "gas in the tank"phrase.

makes me wonder if . his gas in the tank is compared to what we have or what he was when he was at his prime

Gas in the tank may be an appropriate phrase....how much has he got left in his head? Doesn't he average more concussions per year than INT's?

I liked Lynch in his heyday but his age at this point will make him a no go for the team IMO. I am curious to see what the Harrisons can possibly bring to the table this year.

Personally I don't care if you're an ex-Bronco, Packer, Patriot or whatever. Bottom line is if you can help improve this team it doesn't matter to me what former team you played for.

look, these angry anti denver posts are getting silly. you're not thinking about this logically. to quote one of our fellow texans talkers:

we are a different team with different situations. different depth, probably somewhat different schemes as well. just because he was let go in denver doesn't mean he's not a good fit here. (i'm not saying he is, i'm just saying it's not fare to say we are the exact same team). i know you're not saying that we're the same team either but the denver / houston thing has gotten silly for some people. the systems are similar so it makes sense to consider players from their system. it also makes sense to consider former players we've had that we've cut because they have an understanding of the system already.

again, that a huge part of the success of the new regime.

so that post was in reference to mike bell being brought in for a visit.... but it applies to every player on their roster! think about it. who cares where they played before? seriously ask yourself... why am I so upset about this?

Report: John Lynch wants to leave Broncos

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- John Lynch's days with the Denver Broncos appear to be over.

The 16-year NFL safety met with coach Mike Shanahan on Wednesday and told Denver's KCNC-TV that Shanahan gave him permission to explore other opportunities.

That could be playing for another team, or retiring to perhaps go into the broadcast booth.

Lynch skipped a team meeting Tuesday night and was excused from Wednesday's workouts for what Shanahan termed personal reasons.

Lynch was told he'd compete for a starting safety job when he took a pay cut this offseason. With the emergence of Marlon McCree, Lynch didn't play a single snap in the nickel or dime packages during the first week of training camp.

Since Kubiak wants to make the Texans the Broncos 2.0, I'd be all for grabbing Lynch. I think that he can still play pretty well. He could really help out some of our younger rookie DB's, and give us some veteran leadership on the field this year. I also think he could make a few big plays for us. He's always been a guy with great instincts to come up big at crucial times. We could probably give him a one year deal for really cheap.

Come on Kubiak. He'd be a whole lot more of help to our secondary than Mike Bell would be to our RB committee.

Well that's when you know it's time to go. I don't blame him.

I agree with Vinny, though. I loved Lynch when he was in his prime, but to be honest the only thing he would add is experience for our younger guys in the secondary.

I don't think he is completely done. I just think that Denver has better guys at the position now. I can't say that about Brown and Demps. I think that Lynch could seriously compete for the job, and if not become the starter he could be a backup and good for our depth.

You guys act like we would have to sign up for a long term deal or shovel out a lot of money. We also have some pretty lousy safties going into the season, and I think that Lynch could help the team for sure.

If Lynch didn't want to compete and likely be a backup in Denver, why would he want to here.

I agree with the others, he's still decent against the run....but I'll pass.

It's a little different Hou-Tex when you've been on a team and you've been the starter for a few years there. I think that Lynch is smart enough to know now that his current team didn't think highly enough of his abilities to be their starter, so he would have to really prove himself somewhere else to be the starter as well.

Some guys need to get their ego in check, and I'm pretty sure he would know that he can't just come over to a new team and start demanding to become a starter when he just got released.

This Texans team has some pretty lousy guys in the secondary right now, and also some young talent. Lynch's great instincts could earn him some time this year for us, and I personally think that he would have a good chance at beating out someone for a position at safety. Hell, if he would come over here and be a backup then he would be good for rotation.

Offensively they run the same system ..... Since when do Safety's play offense ?

Who the hell cares where they're from. If they can help our team, then we should bring them in. So stop being ignorant with the whole no broncos no packers crap.

And no, we should not pick up Lynch.

Ol' JL is still a competitor and still raises the bar sorta speak in this team when he gets signed as for the secondary we really need all the help we can get.
