FRED BENNETT
CB, Texans
To experts who say Dunta Robinson is the best corner in Houston, think again. Bennett is not only better than Robinson, the stats say he was the premier corner in the league last season. The 24-year-old Bennett, a fourth-round pick in 2007, actually had better metrics in his eight starts than any numbers Robinson has posted in his four-year career. Bennett's 4.7 overall YPA led the league among corners with 60-plus attempts, and opposing WRs gained only 67 total yards on the 24 combined medium, deep and bomb passes he faced. With pass-happy teams like the Steelers, Colts and Browns on Houston's sked in 2008, Bennett's name will be on everyone's lips.

Wow, Bennet getting some love from ESPN. He deserves it, what a fantastic pick he has been. Rick has a keen eye for talent.

Man, I can't wait for the season to start!! I'm looking forward to seeing Bennett develop even further. Hopefully, Molden progresses just as well.

K.C. Joyner has been very high on Bennett this offseason. He does a lot of the number crunching and I have always thought he was one of the smarter football guys out there.

Hopefully Bennett plays out of his mind this season. We're going to need him to do just that.

this is the same guy who for years said David Carr had the best "metrics" in the NFL and all he needed was help. Glad Bennett is getting some love all the same.

Rick Smith is awesome. Not only did we get Bennett, but we got him after trading down in the 4th round and adding Brandon Frye out of it in the 5th.

Just like trading down this year getting Duane Brown (the guy they wanted) but also got Steve Slaton and Domanique Barber out of it.

Hope Bennett continues to improve with the rest of the guys. we've got such a great young defense.

uh oh...
maybe we just didn't fully understand what he meant by "help"

No one in the NFL holds the corner on a running play better than Dunta Robinson. no one.

That would be GREAT if we have true coverage safties, or if Robinson was playing an "in-box" SS. However, he has been playing CB for us, and he is subpar at the vital role of a CB: coverage. I've said this for years, many times, but Robinson isn't that good at being a coverage CB.

We don't use metrics in America... maybe he should play in the CFL then. :)
