Texans back on Austin Radio?

Wait a second, I thought they just took the games off TV, I didn't know those bastards robbed y'all of radio broadcasts also.

Here's rep to everyone for sticking it out.

That's good news. In fact, I'll listen to that station more often because of that decision. E Hogan is the only guy in Austin that ever talks about the Texans in the first place, and this should just make for more Texans discussion. Sweet. Thanks for relaying this, Axman.

I heard that too, and since 1300 has changed I never listen to any other sports talk here in the ATX but 1530!

Thanks for the confirmation Big Wig , I had the ? because there is nothing on the 1530 espn or Official Texans web sites touting this major feat of bringing Texans football to the Central Texas area! What you never listen to Bucky and Bob? LOL

As big a sports fan as I am, Austin sports radio has been such a turn off I didn't know it had changed. I don't know what it changed from or changed to for that matter. I'll give 1530 a shot as part of my training camp. I'll even check out 1300 just for the ghoulish curiosity.

i guess the wounds have healed in austin from the whole VY thing, i remember E Hogan killing the texans also. he has been the only one to give them the time of day though.

You ain't kidding. Austin sports radio is a dreadful wasteland, unless you want to hear about how the Longhorns tie their shoes. I LOVE the Longhorns. I'm a HUGE 'horns fan, but oh my god, the un-ending ass-kissing that 1300 serves up on UT is disgusting. *HORF*

Oh no, no way is that the case. It has nothing to do with wounds, it has to do with the Texans improving = more fans are interested in hearing the broadcast = more money for 1530 to broadcast their games vs. what they would normally broadcast in that position.

Those wounds won't soon heal, unfortunately.

Well - more accurately - the wounds will heal - but the wounded won't stop crying and soiling their diapers over said wound.

woo hoo!!! thanks for the tip. rep. of course we'll all be at 3rd Base screaming at the TVs (with captions on one of them) with the television broadcasts piped in super loud so we can hear it over our yelling.

Good to hear that Ax and thanks for the heads up.:goodpost: On another note........Bigwig, have you talked to Joe over at the Saxon? I'm wondering if he is still going to do the DirectTV™ deal this season. I enjoyed the 3rd base, but free food and guaranteed big screen does have it's advantages.:pepper:

Best news I have heard all day!!!

Sure beats trying to pick up 610, hoping the signal is bouncing off the clouds right!

I was stuck in Austin (I use the term "stuck" only in this situation because the Texans game was on, lol. Otherwise I'd have said 'gladly enjoying Austin's 0% humidty. >.>) for the Carolina Panther game week 2. I actually just went on 610's website and they have a live stream that I was listening. Glad to hear there's a radio station I can listen to if this ever happens again. :D

I was listening to 1530 am yesterday and heard Erin Hogan say that they will be broadcasting this years game in the Austin area.
:fans:

Game?? As in singular??? :foottap:

Seriously though, congrats to you in the Austin area. Keep fighting the good fight.

Whether you were kidding or not, Bill, I called 1530 and they are covering ALL Houston games this year and will be giving away pre-season tix!! :texflag:

Forgive me folks, but in my excitement I forgot to tell him they could do some great pre-game stuff from 3rd Base.

I'm going to call and suggest that, but if anyone else wants to do the same (512) 346-8255, you even get a real person on the line.

Pre- season game Aug 9, will be shown on the CW channel 54 in the Austin area or channel 12 with time warner.

Awsome it is better than the contract the local ABC jagoffs had and posted the home of the Texans then showed the cowgirls.

It was meant tongue in cheek because I really am happy for you Texan Fans in Austin Tennessee...

I just received this from someone at ESPN Sports Radio

" ... I'm an Acct. Executive for ESPN Austin Radio and we are carrying all the Texans games on our radio station this year but we also would like to host a live watch party at a venue and would like to find out what are some Texans friendly places in austin, if anyone could get back to me on this matter it would be great! "

I just responded back to him and of course told him about Third Base. I will let you guys know what comes of this.

Ax, I just checked the CW schedule and it doesn't show the texans game as part of the program on Saturday. Where did you hear that they were going to show them? Maybe they just haven't updated yet, idk.

I spoke to the ESPN Radio rep today and we are going to set something up for next week with the station manager. He told me that their station 1530 AM really wants to start promoting the Texans here in Austin. He told me that Erin Hogan played a key role in getting their station on board with the Texans. He also mentioned that Erin mentioned something about having me on his show to talk Texans.

I am not sure what all will come of this however he seemed pretty cool and anxious to do some things to promote the Texans and our fan base in Austin as well.

This is fantastic news, I hope it goes through. If so, be sure to let us know so we can listen to you guys. I know you will represent us all well. :texflag:

agreed great news. i have no idea why, but for some reason if a radio station has "sponsored events" people come out..... come on 3rd Base "the offical home of the Austin watch parties. "

We are talking about the first regular season game right?
Because its hard to get excited about going to 3rd Base for preseason.

Not yet sure when or where they will want to do their promotional watch party. Hopefully I will know more this week after I meet with them.

where had better be where we have supplanted ourselves. they should be coming to us.

Exactly, very good point. It would be disingenuous to those of us that have been trying to make thirdbase our home. Besides RickyB and BigWig put in a lot of work and effort that last two years at two different locations to try and make Austin friendly to us Texans fan. So while we are at ThirdBase now that is where it should be and not some other location picked by those who were not there during the harder times.

Anyone know if the game against the Bucs tonight will be on the radio in Austin?

I'll give then a call Hardcore. Watch for an edit to this post. I'm really glad you mentioned this, I forgot we're getting radio!!

EDIT: They don't do preseason. :gun: I'll be at the computer tonight and wonder if I can simply hook a Houston station up. (?)

We will be searching together then, hopefully we find it on-line or maybe even streaming video.

in the past i've listened live on 610.com and it cuts out right before kickoff. NFL licensing or something. if the weather was right sometimes i could get it in san antonio. 790 maybe? 760? something like that.

So you are saying that it will not be streamed live?
