Its hard not to. As a 4th rounder we hope that he can be a good depth/ spot starter. If he can provide more than we win. If he is depth/spot starter then we are thrilled that he panned out. The return rate after the 3rd round is usually pretty low, so if we are drafting people that can contribute we are drafting well.

mine too. he was the one i was most excited about on draft day. any idea what agents each of our draftees use? any of them using the same agent? or the same agent as some of our other guys. sometimes that speeds things along.

I'll be watching him closely. I thought he played really well in college and would go much higher than he did. Sometimes guys just slip in the draft, but this one really... I can't put a finger on it. I'm really excited to watch him play, I just hope it's not "too good to be true".

I remember I had my notes out and everything during the draft and when we selected him, I looked down and was thinking, "How in the hell is this guy still available?" I thought it was some sort of mistake but sure enough I didn't have him marked off my list. Anyways, it's looking like we got a steal with him and I really hope it turns out that way!
 
I used to love watching the Va Tech Thursday night games and watching #11 flying around the field making plays. Hopefully I can enjoy it on Sundays now.

Xavier was in the other day, this kids look,physical build and mentality screams "Football Player",,,his mindset is to win the starting job and be a force on the team,,,doesn't seem like the type of kid to be happy with "Getting in the games every now and then"

According to the Roster HT.com there are 84 players with 4 rookies left to sign FO, SS, AM, & DB no one has to be cut until the next signing. JMO:thisbig:

Good draft pick and great to have him in and signed.

I remember most mocks had him the #2 rated OLB. I was amazed he dropped that much and elated we took him. The LB corps this year will be greatly bolstered as compared to last year. Seems like the kind of guy it's going to be hard to keep him off the field as the year progresses.

I'm excited to have him in but the guy we need the most in TC is Brown.

My thought exactly on draft day. I remember thinking we could have him, Ryans, and Diles as our LB starters by 2009. Sweet!
 
4 to sign (Brown, Slaton, Okam, Moulden), which would put them at 84 by my count, meaning 4 to cut from a list including names such as Mark Simmons, Mark Fenton, Ryan Krause, Gabe Long, Marcus Richardson, Kevis Koley, Eric Powell ... and who knows... maybe even that 77 guy.

My bench mark for adibi is quite simply, can he replace Charlie anderon's production on special team. That's it. Everything after that is gravy. He's not going to get to third down pass rush specialist if he can't conquer STs.

I am not sure where the darn cuts are. Ask Gary K. We shall see if he does conquer STs I hope he brings at least some of what Anderson brought to the table.

Defensive Coordinator Bud Foster has seen plenty of talented players in his twenty-one seasons at Virginia Tech. So when he says that Adibi might be the most athletic linebacker he has ever coached, that says plenty. "Xavier might be the fastest guy and the most athletic linebacker I've had the opportunity to coach," said Coach Foster, "His first asset is he's got great speed. Plus, he's physical. He's a complete linebacker. On top of all that, he has a good football IQ and will be a great team guy."

The fact that he holds Xavier Adibi in such high regards should be an indication of the level of talent the Texans were able to snag in the fourth round, but the praise doesn’t end there. Coach Frank Beamer as he spoke about the linebacker's on the field demeanor, "He's got everything it takes. He's tougher than heck and he's nasty on the football field. He's a nice person off the field, but to be a great player, you've got to have that nasty attitude and he's got it."

Childhood friend and college teammate D.J. Parker said, "I've known Xavier since sixth or seventh grade, and you don't find many athletes like him. He's a bookworm. He's a really bright kid who studies a lot of film. He just loves playing football
