Is this scenario possible to you?

We trade down a few spots in the first for a 1st and preferably a second, but most likely a 3rd. We pick up the bpa at a position of need. Then, we package 2 of the 3rds to get an early second if the trade-down is a 3rd. Then we package that second and Jamie to move into the late first round to get another bpa @ need. This gets us 2 1sts a second and a 3rd.

If we get a two, we package that and Sharper to move into the first again. We package the 2 3rds we have already to move into the second. This leaves us with 4 picks in the first 2 rounds.

4 players on the first day or 5, depends on the scenario. But I think if this situation pans out we get some NICE quality and make out like bandits on the first day.

I dont think that we would get a 1st rounder for just Sharper and a 3rd. But we could trade Sharper and our second, which would give us 2 first rounders and 3 third rounders if we trade down. That would still be good.

Here is another scenario I pictured. Say Miami doesnt want to get a RB but wants to bolster its O line or D- line. That would make them open for trade downs. Nick Saban coaching at 13, i still think his boy Marcus Spears from LSU is still on the board. Or as all the Mock Drafts are predicting Alex Barron will also be there. Believe me it is possible the running back they want could be available in round 2. If we did trade up, who would you draft at the #2 slot?

DJ?
Braylon Edwards?
Benson?
Brown?
Cadillac?

Im torn between the 2 longhorn players myself.

I know its a "Dare to Dream" scenario but Saban is a belichek/Parcells disciple and niether of those 2 coaches have really been known to draft running backs in the first round.

if we were in the #2 spot.. id have a hard time deciding between DJ and Brown. Brown is just the epitome of what we need in an RB. But DJ is a hometown product and would solidify our LBs for years to come.

we need to trade sharper and all our draft picks for the #2 and #3 spot :)

if we were that bad last season and had the #2 pick we would either draft Braylon Edwards, Derrick Johnson (i remind you we wouldnt of signed greenwood if that was possibility), Mike Williams or a trade down... Trust me i am Texas fan... but it makes no sense to draft some 1 who wont start or will make too much money and sit.

Well DJ would of had to been a choice before we signed Greenwood and Chamberlin.... I definitely dont see and LB in the 1st 2 rounds now... Its just doesnt make sense

Out of these players, this is how I rank them...

1. DJ - He has to be the obvious choice...We want speedy playmakers, and that's just what he is...

2. Ronnie Brown - His combination of speed and power intrigues me...I think that in the right system, he'll have the best career of the 3 top backs...

3. Ceddy - I like his power and shiftiness and it has been said that Dom wants to adopt the Steelers running game, so he'd be a good fit...

4. Braylon - He is an AJ clone in that he's big, strong, and fast...We don't really need a WR this high, but he'd be great here...The only thing working against him is the Michigan WR stigma...

5. Cadillac - If everyone else is gone, I take him...He'd probably be best used in a west coast offense, but he'd be effective here...

It is my understanding that Chamberlin is a special teams standout who will probably not see much action on D unless we are ravaged with injuries...

THe worst possible scenario

With the second pick in the Draft the Houston Texans select a Punter! or the dancing banana:banana:

yes.. Chamerblin is a special teamer and depth. he could POSSIBLY be a starter in our system.. you never know. Sorta like how Foley did when he went to San Diego. but I doubt he is projected as the new starter at ILB.

we drafted Greenwood and he will replace Sharper. But who replaces Foreman? Probably wong.. but you would think there is a reason we never kept wong at ILB when we tried him there last season. I think he will fill the need, but it is a short term answer. Besides.. he is getting paid alot of money and chances are he will not be here next season unless he takes a pay cut.

ILB and OLB are both needs for us. We are remaking our LBs and chances are we will take at LEAST one of these positions with a high draft pick. There happens to be 3 very talented OLB tweener prospects that are projected to go in the middle of the first. Merriman, Pollack, and Cody.. it seems very likely to me that we could end up grabbing one of them... Pollack has my vote.

I think Wong may be moved to the middle for a year while we develop somebody to take his place...It could be a draft pick, or it could be somebody currently on our roster (Cheatwood will probably spend some time in camp in the middle to see if it suits him)...Either way, I think Wong will be out after next season unless he chooses to re-sign here under market value...We seem to be dedicated to infusing youth into our LB corps, and Wong is about to be 30, so the writing may be on the wall...

you are forgetting Peek, Babin, Wong, Greenwood as our starters. Chamberlin and Polk are ourspecial teamers and back ups.

Actually, until Sharper is traded/released, I still see the starters next year being Wong, Greenwood, Sharper, Babin with Peek coming in on passing downs...

Sharper is gone I think. I suspect that he will be packaged with picks to either move up, or used to help us move down. CC has a plan.

Royce.. Wong is a temporary solution and Peek is apparently not doing anything to lock him in as the starter at OLB.

Greenwood and Babin are the only sure thing at this point in our LBs.

Not to mention again.... It Doesnt mean a rookie can't beat out a veteran for a starting spot in training Camp.
