NFLDraftCountdown grades Texans Draft

Texan 'til I Die
Some of y'all hate early draft grades, but here's another:

Going into this draft Houston had fewer glaring needs than at any point in their existence and all in all they did a pretty good job of addressing the ones that were still outstanding. The Texans probably won't get as much of an instant impact out of this class as they have in past years but that is more a product of the improved strength of their depth chart rather than an indictment of this group of rookies. Houston is now getting to the point where they will use the draft to supplement their roster rather than rely on it to provide 5 or 6 starters every year and that is a good sign because it means they're almost ready to be competitive.

GRADE: B

More analysis is given for each pick in the link. At least this one wasn't done the minute the draft was through...better late than never, I guess! Take it for what it's worth.

Good write up. Fair and informative.

I agree that we will not see the same impact our last few draft classes had, but like he says thats because we are a better overall team.

Lets hope that a good chunk of this draft class finds a roster spot.

pretty-fair/spot-on. think I graded out the Texans draft a B+. of course time will only tell :)

With their final pick in round seven the Texans brought in Alex Brink out of Washington St. to be a developmental quarterback. A four-year starter in the Pac-10, Brink doesn't have great size or the strongest arm but he's a hard worker and team leader who, if everything breaks just right, could maybe be a backup in the pros one day. For the time being Brink will compete for the #3 job behind Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels. - NFL Countdown

Probably the most considered review of the Texans draft I have read, I personally think he will be surprised at just how good this draft class turns out to be.

"Almost ready to be competitive"????? What???? I think we are competitive now.

I'm not in the room but I believe he is talking bout being competitive in regards to winning the division out right. Not being down to the colts & Jags by an eight point spread at home. 1-5 with in the division, with one game a gimme....I believe the guy is spot on. Until you do it, you are what your record says you are.
