2009 Mock Draft

lol everytime there's a mock that's this far in advance everyone always complains mostly about the order the teams are drafting. i say just keep the same order from the previous season.

The only thing more pointless than a mock draft one year in advance is a beer with no alchohol.

haha yeah I agree. Wastes more time during the offseason though as dumb as they may be

Todd McShay has the Texans drafting 12th and taking Malcom Jenkins, CB, Ohio State

Jenkins made a wise decision to return as a senior. He needs to improve his footwork and overall man-to-man cover skills to prove to scouts he's capable of playing corner in any scheme at the next level. Regardless, the Texans could use his ball-hawking skills in their secondary, no matter whether it's at cornerback or safety.

I would be giddy if we landed Bey.

There are too many guys I like at this point to break it down. I've seen film on almost every one of those guys for various reasons, but there is still much more to watch before the draft. Selvie is probably my favorite guy right now and I think he has the potential to fill out almost as much as Mario physically.

However, we need to keep all of this in perspective. Last year everyone was calling for Phillips and he didn't produce like he was capable of producing, and he simply wasn't value at our spot come draft day. Early mocks had him going well before us, while he ended up going well after us. We need to let the year at least get going. We know who to watch more than others, but at this point, that's all.

we don't need a WR... and we won't need one a year from now. i can guarantee that. at least not in round 1.

We will trade down and select the player we wanted all along and pick up a 3rd and a 6th. With our own 6th, we make a deal with the Denver Broncos (who?) and pick up a young starter in his prime. As our 7th round selection from last year's draft is now our starting OLB (Zach Diles) and this year's 7th is now our back up QB, we will turn down Vikings offer of a 3rd for Sage but agree to their 7th round for next four seasons. Of interest is the recent announcement by Robert (Bob) McNair through his personal spokes person John McClain that the agent for Vince Lombardi is negotiating a contract with the Texans to come out of retirement.

ESPN says the Texans must show progress in 2009 or the draft will be given a poor grade. The prediction is for the Texans to have "a real shot at the playoffs". It is also rumored that Steve McKinney will attempt to be signed as a free agent.

Best thing about next years Draft for the Texans is that we'll have a second round pick again after going 2 years without one.

well, we spent the first years of this franchise without a QB also, so all in all the second rounders were well worth it.

Every time I see the Bey pick it tells me no one knows who J.J. is. Or they know and they are calling him bust after one year. Protect the QB, defend the QB, sack the Qb...that's it. anything else is extranious in the first round.

Could one argue that by getting an Elite WR that can bust coverage and get open quickly that this indeed does protect the QB by letting him get the ball out quicker??

Have you watched Bey? I noticed him when I was scouting Maryland's offense for Gaither. The kid is sick.

Well, There is plethora of DE and Sam's and Wills on the board . But they've been looking for big safeties four three years now...@ 6-2 ,222, 4.40, I got funny feeling there going to scratch that itch with the USC guy.

gonna kill me but I'll be watching a lot of USC football this fall.

My team, I bookend the Tackle and Kick Erick Winston to LG.
