Dominique Barber - S Minn is a Texan!!!

2nd team all big ten
guy looks pretty good. a safety cant hurt but why pass on josh barrett
not bad
can we hope once again that robertson or johnstone lasts until next round?
those two tommy blake, mike hart maybe, and highsmith are the guys i want. ahtyba rubin also or has he been drafted?

No! This is the first pick I truly dislike. Should have gone after a pass rusher, there wont be many in the 7th. Maybe none.

I remember him being interviwed on Sirius NFL Radio a couple weeks ago and he impressed me in the interview. Very down to earth and seemed like he outworks his competition. He said that Marion gives him alot of brotherly advice.

I wonder if they project him to a special teams player, and as a linebacker since he isn;'t very fast. I could very easily see him as a linebacker, if he is half as tough as his brother.

Dominique Barber ...... meh....

6th and 7th rounds would be unusual if they find a gem anyway, so not a big deal.

I like this pick, if he is half as intense as his bro he'll be knockin the ball out of many hands....

Yes, but does he have his brothers vision, instincts, speed, etc. I just don't know.

My only guess is that the Smithiak thinks that guys like Johnston (sleeper DE) will be available in the 7th round.

We don't really know how much interest Kubiak/Smith had in Johnston. They only brought him in for one visit. If we wanted him we would've atleast took him with our 6th, because I don't think Barber is going to make any sort of impact for us this year.

I'm not quite sure what kind of pick this is, is this a project for the future? Is he the most ready safety on the board? BPA? I'm confused.

The pros see somthing that we dont, Ill trust'em....

I agree, I thought we were going to get a DE to help out Mario and Amobi.

We did get a DL to help Amobe and Mario. His name is Frank Okam and he is a big 2 Gap run stuffer. He hopefully will be able to entangle 2 Olineman while Amobe and Mario apply the pressure.

Yea, but he isn't a DE. What we really need (or want) is an edge rusher who will take some blocks off of Mario, or who can take advantage of the blocks on Mario, etc.

Not to take anything away from the Okam pick... I like it.

He had 100 tackles in 2007, thats really good for a safety considering Adibi had 115, seems like if you add some muscule he could be good

I do like the pick, although I would've preferred Jamie Silva. Silva has a better motor, intelligent, kamikaze attitude, and i think will turn out to be a better pro in the long run.

The part about Barber that scares me is what I read about his "laziness" and low wonderlic scores. If that can be corrected, or if he really is just a late bloomer, then Barber will be just fine.

forget about timed speed he keeps the play in front reads then quick to react. I think he is a Rhodes pick. oh yeah tough as hell a converted hockey player :hothboy:

Smith and Kubiak seem intent on rebuilding this team with young players. We seem to have addressed a team need with every pick we've made this draft. I don't know much about Barber, but from what I've been told he'll make for solid depth, at the very least.

Yep, they are building us up to be a Dynasty... pure and simple.

Yeah, maybe the are planning to trade TJ for a vet DE?

Perhaps, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea. One thing we have to keep in mind, however, is that TJ's value is not particularly high. He has a fairly large attitude problem and has yet to give results on the field. For all intents and purposes, he is a bust and we have to be realistic about what we could get for him.

I don't know. I saw the video of him. I'm really not very impressed at all. No interceptions? 100 tackles for a safety? That's a really bad defensive unit there.

He does have a knack for trying to strip the ball everytime he made a tackle so I really liked that. I'd much rather get a ballhawk though.

In Smithiak we trust.

there was a DE in the 7th i wanted but i think most teams are staying away because he did a year in prison. Marcus Dixon...you can read his story on him.
