Injury report on Fred Weary?

thats what I heard too, I thought I heard the announcers say it was a sprain so it can't be anything too serious.

honestly I can't recall how serious Fred's injury was .. all I can think of is Spencers injury

Fred's Injury couldn't have come at a worse time for him. I think we have some good young guards that might warrant the PT though. If Spencer comes back if he's not all there to play LT he'd fit nicely in at RG.

I was surprised Kubes said he would possibly re-sign him.

Why? He was pretty solid inside and you want as much depth as you can find.

If it is a break, those heal quicker than a strain or sprain.

Well, before the draft, I can count 11 potential roster spots on the OLine, not counting Weary:

Winston
Pitts
Spencer
Myers
Frye
Butler
Eslinger
GWhite
Briesel
Studdard
Salaam

So, if we don't draft any linemen, we'd have to re-sign Weary and cut three of the guys listed above

So who is a for sure on that list to make the team?
Pitts
Myers
Salaam
Winston
Draft Pick?

Question for some of you guys. Maybe this has been answered already. If so, I obviously missed it.

Has Alex Gibbs seen these guys in action since his hiring? Some sort of camp? I vaguely seem to remember some sort of voluntarily mandated minicamp going on a few weeks ago but is that enough for Gibbs to make a determination on the 11 guys listed to parlay into whether or not/or how pressing the draft is a need for his blocking team?

I know you guys want a lineman. That's not what I'm asking. Is Alex Gibbs really that much of a wunderkind? Does anyone know what his track record is coming into a team? How much teams have improved with the first season of him handling the line?

He's a bit old for a wunderkind but he's about as close as you can get for an old guy.

He's got all the practice tape on the guys that we've got. Remember every practice is recorded and all that practice tape is there for him to look at. For guys that have played in games, he's also got game film.

We've had one organized team activity where he would have been able to work with the guys a little bit. I think Salaam is the only lineman that he's already worked with during a regular season.

When he went to the Falcons, they went from 14th to 1st in yards rushing. When he went to the Broncos, they went from 23rd to 5th in yards rushing.

Do you know if they made significant changes to the backs?

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

The Broncos went from Russell and Milburn to an unknown rookie drafted in the ... 6th round, iirc... named Terrell Davis.

With the Falcons, it was basically the same personnel. But the leading rusher went from Duckett to Dunn and Vick started getting more playing time. Vick really contributed a LOT to the rushing totals.
