Reggie wants to hear "MVP"

Silver Oak

All Pro
New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush recently joked that his friend and neighbor, Hornets point guard Chris Paul, “is putting a lot of pressure on me” with his MVP-caliber season.

“Now I’ve got to come and have an equal or better year,” Bush said. “I’ve got to get the crowd chanting MVP.”

It’s hard to fathom the statistics that would be required for Bush to have the NFL equivalent of Paul’s record-breaking season, but it’s clear that the Saints’ multi-purpose back, who will enter his third season in the fall just as Paul did at the start of this season, is looking for a breakout season.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Reggie is a brilliant back, capable of carrying a whole team on his back for years. And he looks really hot in a bathing suit.

Maybe he set his goals to winning the starting RB position first or how about MVP of his own team? Either that or invest in some serious Madden time. That's probably the only way he wins MVP.

Let's go through a game without hearing "Bush fumbles" before we start talking about MVP, Reggie.

Maybe Chris Paul was saying that to Reggie's girl. The non-talented rich girl w/ the booming a**.

You know, I actually hope Reggie has a pretty good season. Now that Mario has shown his potential and that he was better than Bush or Young for the Texans, I don't exactly care what they do but I do wish them well in their careers...more Bush than Young cause Young is in our division.

have them do well...not great, Mario should be the one with the greatness.

Maybe Reggie could break a run over 20 yards first. Or average over 3.1 yards per carry. You have to have a better career highlight than dating a Kardashian.

New Orleans fans on the other hand will settle for an "at least he finally showed up" season. If he just appears in half as many highlights in 2008 as he does advertisements then he'll have his "breakout" year. I'm not holding my breath.

from DGDB&D:
This–along with being too much of a Mangina to run between the tackles–is why you are an overrated sack of suck. You start the article talking about how you want to have an MVP-caliber year and you really want to have a breakout season, but you immediately remind the reader that you only want these things so long as it doesn’t interfere with shooting Pepsi commercials...
the rest of the post is great but not entirely safe for work.

"After being the second player selected in the 2006 season, he had a modest rookie season and the only major difference in his sophomore season was that he missed the last four games because of a knee injury."

That's a surprisely candid and honest evaluation of Bushs career to date by
the local TV station. Maybe his self-aggrandizing hype is starting to wear a
little thin, even in NOLA ?

it's a pretty good goal to set for ones' self.
It's not a goal, it's a dream. Goals that people set for themselves are usually atainable. Reggie isn't even a every down back, he'll never be a MVP caliber player............hell he needs to have a break out year next year just to lock up his job for the upcoming seasons, the grace period is starting to come to a end.

man...its refreshing to see the entire board sounding like me before the draft. I knew a pile of **** when i saw it. He won't be in the NFL in 2010

What was the goal Mario set for himself before last season? I thought it was something like break the single season sack record?

Anyways, I thought he was nuts, dumb, crazy when he said that... not that he was really THAT close to it but 14 sacks was awesome this year.

I see Reggie as a guy that puts a lot on his shoulders. Sometimes he sounds arrogant, but he's not half as bad as a lot in this league. He really does push himself very hard and is only trying to become a better football player. I've been hard on Reggie at times, but he really is a strong player from a physical standpoint. I like bigger backs generally, but he isn't a weak player. Plus, that hit he took against the eagles was a HUGE one. I gained a little respect for him getting up and playing through it- that had to be one of the hardest hits I've ever seen. the LB diagnosed it perfectly but Brees still left reggie out to dry with that little floater.

Just to clarify, Sheldon Brown is a corner not a linebacker. He may be moved to safety this year with the arrival of Asante Samuel though. He hits like a safety.
