:thumbup Cleverland lost Holcomb to Buff so I think they'll go QB . If we draft Barron I'll eat a Titans hat . Why would'nt Miami take DJ ?

miami has more pressing needs than linebacker...with no running game they are sure to draft benson who is the top rated runner...now if miami trades for henry, edge, or alexander then this draft will change and DJ will go to the phins but not yet...i also don't see romeo going QB in his first year as a head coach...generally brand new head coaches want a vet. QB so they (the coaches) can have the learning curve too without it being too obvious...that's why they traded for trent dilfer who is a superbowl winning QB...i suspect next year either they or the phins will be targetting leinart with the number one pick

add in the fact that neither one of the QB's have been really playing to top 5 draft status...the last game for rodgers was a smashing defeat to my tech raiders and smith only had his one great season...lots up in the air for both of them...if you ask scouts they'll tell you neither one is really a top 5 talent but due to need they are up there...that's why i see smith falling to the saints because he is the one without the experience while rodgers has atleast played for more than one season

also the reason i have us drafting barron is if you look at the players left he is the best player available...if he hadn't had a few injuries before this season he would be a lock at the top 5...and even though i don't like bobby bowden if he says he's up there with walter jones i'll believe him...bobby isn't known for having bad players

Ronnie Brown will be the first running back taken. He had an awesome combine as well as an excellent season. Cadillac will be second and Benson third.

I seriously doubt Miami would pick Benson with the overall second pick. Brown appears to be the better back based on his college career and the combine. Plus, from a politically / public relations position, Miami does not want another "ganja" boy from Austin. Benson's comments about the Heisman over OU victory bring his character into question since many NFL clubs place a high value on a team first mentality. He may be a great team player of tremendous moral character, but Ricky Williams is too fresh on Dolphin minds and Brown or Cadillac appear to be safer picks right now. Benson will not be a Dolphin -- in my humble opinion. I agree that Cadillac will probably be a Bucaneer. I wouldn't be surprised if Benson ended up in Arizona instead of Brown as you suggest.

Whoa Whoa Whoa, I agree Brown could be the first back taken, but to say he 's better based on his college career is just wrong. Benson was a horse for all 4 years at Texas. Brown was never the starter at Auburn. It's in my opinion that a player's college career is a far better indication of a player's ability than drills in a dome without pads on.

I agree that a college career is a good indicator of a players abilities and that we should not focus on combine results alone. Ronnnie Brown had a good college career. He was the starter in 2002 when Cadillac had a season ending injury (in a game against LSU I think). That year Brown rushed for just over 1000 yards. This past season he almost had a 1000 yards again (913 to be exact) while splitting time with Cadillac. Admitedly the 2003 season was a disappointment, but I think this was due more to offensive play calling rather than player performance. I agree that Benson had an excellent college career. He rushed for over a 1000 yards each of his 4 seasons with the Longhorns. However, I think he will be the 3rd back taken -- not because of his abilities but because of how teams perceive he will fit into their organization. I would be very surprised to see Miami take Benson. They still have a bad taste from Ricky Williams. Benson would be a good pick for Tampa Bay. He could play with Simms again. But, I have seen and heard that Gruden likes Cadillac. If true, that would leave Benson as the 3rd running back taken.

:thumbdown I don't think Barrons in the same class as Gallery or Jordan Gross . Heck I would'nt take him over Mike Williams or Shawn Andrews so why take him at 13 .

I won't have to count the calories of a Titans hat .

I can see how you would believe that Ronnie would be picked over Ced, he did run a 4.46, but I dont think that there is anyway that a team puts Caddillac over Benson. Caddy isnt that fast or that big, even though he can make plays. Personally I am still sceptucal on whether or not Ronnie will be the #1 back. Id have to wait till after Bensons pro day.

I don't think Gross is in the same class as Gallery, he is a better RT than LT. Yeah, if people followed only the combine and work outs, then there would be people like Tony Manerich and Ryan Leaf would get drafted in the first round, hold on a minute.....

I agreee. Moreover, he had that serious injury in 2003. I think from an ability standpoint, Benson would be the better pick for the Bucs. But, it is my understanding that Gruden likes Cadillac. I guess much still depends on his on-campus workout as well as the results from his interview/psycological profile.

In this draft, who knows? There is so much speculation and on forums such as these emtotions and loyalties to particular schools or conferences comes into play. The experts will make their choice late April.

Hopefully, the Texans won't pass on a "sure thing" or sacrifice multiple draft picks to obtain that player they perceive as a gem in the rough. They have done it every year so far. I still get steamed that we passed on Clinton Portis and chose Chester Pitts instead.

:thumbup Jordan Gross started a Super Bowl his rookie year . That trumps all of them . Mandrich was a great player until he lost 20 lbs after signing his contract . Peculiar thing was it was all muscle .

let me ask ya'll this...does alex barron have more potential than seth wand...if any of ya'll say no your lying to yourselves...barron can be a franchise LT wand will be nothing more than a servicable starter...benson hasn't worked out at all so hold off on the whose the first back taken til after UT's pro day...benson isn't ricky and it's unfair to him to classify him as the same person...but anything is possible brown and benson could easily be reversed...my question is...with out changing any of the previous picks instead of barron who would you rather the texans pick?

personally, I'd rather us trade down in that spot (if possible) then pick up Rogers or Miller at CB (or depending on how far we drop take barron if he is still there) and somehow with our 2nd trade up and get Bass

Wand does get beat no doubt, but I feel our weekest link is the center of the line..I am still waiting to see a pocket develop. I don't feel Barron is worth the 13th pick

I dont think barron is going to be an elite player in this league. I rather trade down and pick up Heath Miller or David Baas. Both seem like solid players IMO with a great upside.

I wouldn't mind a repeat of last year. Pick Carlos Rogers at CB and somehow trade for late first round and get David Pollack to convert to OLB. That would solidify both OLB and CB for the future. Then move Glenn to the safety.

Ummmm, no.

Glenn will not be moving to safety, and I rather have Earl there to keep on developing anyways.

Ross Verba started at LT for the Packers in a super bowl as a rookie, not to mention that he was the first rookie tackle to start in a super bowl. Do you think that makes him better than Gross?

well like i said keep in mind that both aaron rodgers and alex smith are no where near the caliber of players that other top 5 Qb: david carr, joey harrington, carson palmer, kyle boller, eli manning, philip rivers, and bed roethlisberger were...rodgers has some skills but if you look at how he plays in the big games he's 0-4...alex smith only started one season and while he had a great season he is still unproven...he has potential but no nearly as much as the QB's that i previously mentioned did...if both of these guys came out last season they would have been 2nd or 3rd rounders...so before you count my mock off for smith falling to the 16th pick take a real long look at the talent in this years draft

FYI:

Smith has absolutely ridiculous stats in his two seasons as starting quarterback for the Utes. He is 20-1 as a starter, completed over 65% of his passes for 4,871 yards, 43 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. As a runner, he totaled 1,015 yards and 15 touchdowns.
