Awtysst's Totally Ridiculous Texans Mock...Or is it?

Here is my Totally Ridiculous Texans mock...Or is it? You be the judge.

1. Phillip Merling-DE Clemson
People think our biggest needs our OT, RB, or CB. I think our two biggest needs are high motor DE opposite Mario and a big clogging DT. I have been saying for years that you need to harass the opposing QB and get in his grill. Merling reminds me of a Justin Tuck(a high motor guy that gives his all on every play. Mario will be thrilled to have Merling.

2. Matt Schaub:QB

3. Red Bryant-DT Texas A&M
Yeah, I know many of you don't like this pick, but you have to relaize how much of a hole we have at the other DT position. Amobe will be a hoss, but we need a big mountain of a man next to him to be our run stopper. If I could I would go get Mönkhbatyn Davaajargal, a 6'4 350 lb Yokozuna. Since I can't, I'll take Red, stick him next to Mario and Amobi and watch him continuously tie up 2 defenders.

4. Mike Hart: RB Michigan
Good blocker: check. Holds onto the football and doesn't fumble:check. Takes the ball and runs straight forward: check. Able to catch the ball out of the backfield: check. He would be an excellent ZBS RB and can share the load with a bigger back like Chris Brown

5. DaJuan Tribble: CB
Some of yall might be pissed off with me for waiting so long to take a CB, but the fact is, this is a guy who is a natural Zone CB. He is perfect for that role. He could likely come and compete for a nickel spot right away.

6. Chris Myers: C

7. Jonathan Zenon:CB LSU
Here is another Zone CB that could be a good pick.

I know that I didn't take any O line in this draft. I am not as impressed with Albert(as many on this board are) due to his poor lateral movement. He has good blocking skills but we need good lateral movement, not decent, not average, good.

I think that we can put together an O-line with what we have. I expect Spencer to come back as a Guard and if neccesary we could always shift Pitts back to LT. Remember 03 under Capers where we actually played halfway decent and won 7 games? Know who the LT was? It was Pitts. I don't know why we moved him, but we should have left him at LT. So with Pitts at LT, Myers at C, and Winston at the RT we have 3 positions filled for sure. I would put Briesel, Studdard, and Spencer into competition and the best two start at the Guard positions and the third backs up.

It seems to me like you described a Ron Dayne who can catch out of the backfield. :specnatz:

not going to agree or disagree. I'm just going to make a comment on your CB selections. I recently read that Kubiak is going to run more man coverage this year. It was in this story down in the section about Reeves.

You don't have to tempt me twice with DL picks, I love me some defense.

I think a run stuffing isn't part of the scheme we want to run, I would be less surprised to see us take another penetrator if we can find one.

1.) Im one of the few here that would be fine with Merling but I would rather Harvey fall.

2.) gi'me

3.) Think you are under estimating TJ a little but I am also in the camp of a space eating DT and more depth on the DL.

4.) I like Hart but would probably go with OL here. (Zuttah maybe) Wait until next year to get a running back.

5.) As Vtech opinted out we should be going to more man so you may want to adjust here.

6.) gi'me

7.) read 5

I wouldnt hate this draft but you will here from the OL and CB supporters.

Where did you get this from?
("I am not as impressed with Albert(as many on this board are) due to his poor lateral movement. He has good blocking skills but we need good lateral movement, not decent, not average, good.")

I have heard/read nothing but the opposite.

Id love to have a dominating defense too. Because so much has been made out about our LT situation and our three first round DL picks I dont think people realize how frail our DL is. Really who besides our top 3 DL could start on any other team? Kalu is at the end of his career and most likely Weaver is at the end of his career with us. Maddox is just a warm body and the rest are camp fodder. We need a bookend for Mario and depth badly or it will start wearing out our young guys sooner than we want.

I think a run stuffing isn't part of the scheme we want to run, I would be less surprised to see us take another penetrator if we can find one.

Some how I sure would like for us to get a second rounder and come away with T Laws.

Better go trampimng for a couple of fa QBs....you're on path to disaster for sure. It take five years to recover everytime you reload franchise QBs.
and one of these years we're going to get unluck with the left side.

Would be cool with a DE, but only if there is value and we cant trade down.

3.) Think you are under estimating TJ a little but I am also in the camp of a space eating DT and more depth on the DL.

Have you seen the yardage they gave up up the middle while he was in? Its something like .3 yards a carry at him. Thats insane. Im all for a young run stuffer with TJ as depth.

4.) I like Hart but would probably go with OL here. (Zuttah maybe) Wait until next year to get a running back.

Not sold on Hart. He seems like the product of the system. We have had bacs like him in the past. If you want to draft one, get a change of pace for our other guys. The day of a 25 carry a game back are over, we just need 2 guys who can run it 17 is timeas a game.

Ummm we already have 3 pretty damn good QB's.
