The Texans are set to play Denver, New Orleans, Dallas and Tampa Bay in their preseason games in August.

The NFL will set the dates and times soon.

The Texans will likely open the preseason against the Broncos at Reliant Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 9. On the next weekend, the Texans are set to travel to play the Saints on Aug. 16.

A week later, the Texans will play their last game at Texas Stadium against the Cowboys. This is the last season the Cowboys are playing at Texas Stadium before moving into their new home in Arlington.

The Texans close the preseason at home against Tampa Bay, likely on August 28, a Thursday.

Texans preseason schedule (Dates tentative):

• Aug. 9: Denver.
• Aug. 16: New Orleans.
• Aug. 23: Dallas.
• Aug. 28: Tampa Bay

HEY! Go figure. Tampa Bay, again.

So, is Denver going to start showing up in our pre-season schedule every year like Dallas? :spy:

Why Tampa Bay every year? I can understand Dallas but the other 3 would be nice to see different teams every year. JMHO

Again this year Dallas will be THE game of the preseason. It will be nice to see our starters in that game.

I always enjoy the Denver, Dallas pre-season games. Saints are fun to play just because of the Mario/Reggie connection. Tampa's kind of a head scratcher to me. Is it a Gruden/Kubiak thing or are our owners friends with one another?

Logistically, Tampa is an easy trip - about 1:50 in the air - plus add in the fact that they rarely play each other in the regular season (you're not going to play division rivals in preseason) and the only other 'close' team is KC ... or Denver....or AZ which they did last year. One of the objectives of preseason is play the game - get the hell out of there and get back to business.

I can live with this preseason schedule. Playing Denver will be like practice for the Texans, only hitting peeps win another uni. NO should be a great test for our secondary so that's a good game. Dallas will be the primetime preseason game, again. And Tampa Bay will be another *yawn* last chance for those players on the bubble to make the team.

Road trip.

Sure sounds like more fun than Texas Toilet Stadium in September.

That stadium is nasty. Went there for one game (and rooted for the Redskins) and was amazed on my first trip to Texas Stadium: Water running down the walls of the concourse, puddles on the walkway of the concourse. The siding of the wall, around the perimeter of the playing surface, was just plywood painted blue--A lot of the panels were different shades of blue, but I guess the TV projects it as one shade of blue so that you don't see it at home. The panels were not even flush to the wall in a lot of places, it just looked like a wreck from the stands.

You have it right when you call it Texas Toilet Stadium. Ick.

Make fun of them while you can because they are building a new stadium for over a billion dollars.

That stadium is going to be amazing, I have to say.

I heard the official schedule for the regular season comes out today about 4:30 pm. Does anyone know for sure?

Cool! Thanks. Maybe we can get a MNF game also!

That does sound like a fun road trip for some of you guys. I'd consider going myself if I wasn't saving money to go for some regular season games.

I agree with an earlier sentiment about it being a good little test for you guys' secondary, and vice versa for ours as well. Hopefully whoever is covering A. Johnson can keep within 40 yards of him this time.

I just hope the Tampa game is Friday night and not Thursday. Nothing worse than Thursday night pre-season football....well except no pre-season football like now.

Tampa will be on our schedule every year until we can prove we know how to throw into a Cover 2 zone. Since that's what Indy plays, it is a good thing to practice against.
