Juilus Jones to visit Titans

Word has it the free-agent running back is visiting with the Titans today after spending the last couple of days in Detroit. Seattle was a possibility, but the Seahawks signed T.J. Duckett to a five-year deal on Tuesday.

Tennessee would be a good spot for Jones. LenDale White went for more than 1,000 yards last year, and Chris Brown was a decent backup, but Jones, who knows he has something to prove, would add a speed dimension the Titans lack in the running game.

The guy on their roster that I like is Chris Henry. That guy is another Marion Barber, IMO. Hard-running north and south, bowls people over, looks for contact... basically another guy with a LB mentality playing RB. LenDale White, Chris Henry, Julius Jones - that's a very formidable RB corps.

Too bad about the WRs though. LOL

Even with LenWhale on crutches, the Titans have two other running backs. As DieHardChris mentioned, they have Chris Henry and that guy going into his third season...

I forgot his name but I think he wears #10....

*where ya at Arrow?*

doesnt change my mock draft. they also signed Duckett to be the lead blocker/short yardage specialist.

He would have fit better in Tennessee... or here. In Seattle, they'll expect him to run pretty much the way he didn't in Dallas.

In Seattle, they need a guy who can break a few tackles.

HELLO, JULIUS . . . GOODBYE, SHAUN?

Barely two years after Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander won the league MVP award, the team has agreed to terms with one of the players who was expected prior to the 2005 season to contend for that prize.

According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, the Seahawks have struck a deal with tailback Julius Jones.

The move immediately calls into question Alexander's status with the team. Two weeks ago, there were rumors at the Scouting Combine that Alexander could be released. Since then, the Seahawks have signed T.J. Duckett.

After rushing for 819 yards in only eight games during his rookie year of 2004, big things were expected of Jones in 2005. But he didn't even crack 1,000 yards in his second season.

Alexander is signed through 2013, and is due to earn a salary in excess of $5.5 million in 2008.

Also at risk is running back is Maurice Morris, who is due to earn a salary of $1 million in 2oo8, the final year of his current deal.
