David Carr

from a Texans fan perspective what do you expect out of David Carr next year? What do you guys hope he'll improve on next season? What numbers do you'll think he will produce or hope to produce? Just wanted to know

well, some people compair Carr to Aikman, so I think he'll have a big forth year but not as hugh as Aikman's was.

I believe he will be in the higher completion bracket with mega yards and even surprise people with his rushing. But thats just my opinion

I'd like to see him improve on his pocket prescence, but we won't get into that and his decision making. I think he is set physically.

I think we'll have to wait on David's progression going into next year based on what,if anything, they do during this offseason and draft with the offensive line. They are so closely tied together.

david's progression will depend on the front office and the coaches. he has all the abilities and can explode if given the chance. also the o line needs to improve some. i don't know what to expect but anything over 3500 and 20 td i will be a happy man.

In year four I'm looking for one thing from David Carr, smarter decisions. I'm not going to get bent out of shape (at David) if he's getting pressured heavily the whole season and sacked like groceries but if he's got time and isn't taking a beating I want to see him play smarter. The rest (yards, TD's, wins) will come along if he's protected and makes better decisions.

<15 ints

WHOA! What's with the 15 picks? No faith? I like everything else but I'd go with 8 picks. He'll make his usual miscues but a few times it was the receivers running sloppy routes that got the abundance of picks this year

I say if we get him another WR (primarily a TE) to throw to then his #'s would be a whole lot better. Keeping the TE's in to max protect and sending Davis out in the flat does not give you that many options to throw too, and that puts alot of pressure on your WR's to get open which we know most teams are gonna doube Andre so that leaves the play into Gaffney's hands and his ability to get open.

Ya know.. I know that TEs are fun and everything.. but they are not the difference between being a playoff team or not.

Who are the TEs for the Steelers? thats right.. no one knows or cares.

I dont deny that a good TE can be a huge help.. but they arent a necessity.. and with Gaffney and Armstrong.. id say we have plenty of talent to get the ball in the endzone.. we just need to improve our Oline so carr has time to find the open man.. and Davis has some holes to run through.

I expect 4000 yards and a QB rating in the 90s. I think he will be a top 10 QB.

I hope he can pass for atleast 3500 yards and 20 TDs, but most of all I hope he has an o-line, because Carr is getting better AJ is getting better and so is DD. Carr can have a monster year if he has time to set his feet anmd throw. I also look for him to get the TEs more involved this year. Even though Miller cant block worth a plug nickel, he has good receiving ability so if we dont get a new TE or if Joppru cant come in, I still hope to see Billy Miller more involved.

When you have the Jerome Bettis and Duce Staley rushing the ball, topped with Hines Ward, Plaxico Burress, and Antwan Randle El on the outside. The TE's definitely wouldn't make that much of a difference in the offense. But the fact of the matter is the Steelers was top 5 in rushing offense, plus they have three very good WRs to throw too. I don't think the Texans offense compares to the Steelers offense.

I dont think our running game yet compares to the steeler offense.. but our passing game is as good if not better. And we are working on the running.

Off the top of my head I know that Jay Riersmema (however you spell it) is one of their TEs. He's a very talented TE, and he played well for the Bills. I'm sure he got his share of looks from a young QB looking for a safe target.

im more concerned with carr's ability to lead us to wins then i am sheer numbers...i just want the picks down and the completion % to improve.

obviously the line is going to have a huge impact on carr's performance again ,but let me remind you guys dom davis has yet to make it healthy through a full season. a second running back ,wether hes already on the roster or added, is going to have to step up. also we're going to have to have another downfield target emerge...maybe its b miller, joppru, armstrong or someone to be added...,but inorder for carr to continue his progresion we're going to need another downfield threat.

what i would like to see from carr is 4th quarter ,late drive, magic akin to elway. i want to see him read the blitz before the ball is snapped and shoot the ball off to the hot reciever a second later. i want carr to have more freedom at the line of scrimmage and call the proper audible more consistently. i want to see carr beat a zone 2. i want carr to miss practice durring the week less often ( there were a number of games inwich his timming was off the whole 1st half when he missed practice time this year ).i want carr to start showing savy vetran moves like looking off safties or pump fakes. once our running game is a bit more succesful i'd like to see carr sale the play action a bit more convincingly. i'd like to see carr get farther in his downfield progressions then his 2nd reciever (i know its the lines fault). and sometimes, just sometimes, i wanna see carr get angry more often. i'm tired of watching a class act with monumental talent hampered by a porous line...3 years is long enough...its time to start protecting the face of the franchise. if managment dosent do anything about it i hope carr calls them out on it if necessary.

My expectations rely on the performance of the OL next year. With atleast decent pass blocking, I'd expect noticeable improvement. If our OL repeats as one of the worst units in the league, I expect marginal improvement by Carr, and ultimately marginal improvement from our offense. Don't get me wrong, I think there's a fair share of the blame on Carr's shoulders for not being able to make quicker reads, and holding onto the ball too long etc. I just think the confidence he'll get by knowing he won't be sacked every other play will do him wonders and will show in his play. Hopefully he doesn't injure his ankle and/or shoulder again, he plays with heart when he's injured, but it really shows when he isn't as mobile and/or can't get enough velocity on his throws.

I want to see Leadership, fire, and wins. And I expect his numbers to be 3,600 22/12 and 63% and 95 QB rating. I think w/ better line play the consistent reads and quicker decisions will come.

Carr has shown leadership. Id like him to KEEP showing it.. but as of yet he has not lacked in the leadership department.

I wouldnt say he lacks fire either.

Wins though.. we need more of that :)

:soapbox: It seems that, yet again, David Carr's stats are showing that he is still improving. As if we really needed the numbers anyway. I know there are those that still dis David ...and I was one of them at one time, but since he stepped up his second season I've been on the DC-train since. Great players may be immortalised but they are still human.

Super Dave!!

well we decided for the QBs we will say the band train :hmmm: and every one else the band wagon  ..its the new thing man ya didnt know :heh:

I'm suprised that one of my catch phrases actually caught on. Been wearing my two David Carr jerseys on a regular basis. One is from Wal-Mart and the other one is the Battle Red. Plus I also have a picture of David Carr doing one of his side arm passes.
Anyway, I saw that someone bring up the fact we need to beef up the o-line so I thought I would share something. I was reading an article on nfl.com today and it mentioned that someone talked to one of the coaches and he said that this draft has some great centers that may go in the late first round or the early second.

I believe he needs an attitude adjustment and having his EGO deflated might help. Think he would do better some where else with linemen that can defend him.
