A large portion of America seems to love to hate Bill Belichick

Hall of Fame
Floating around the internet last night and today are tons of articles and blogs about the game last night. A prevailing theme seems to be about hating Belichick. Maybe it is because his name lends itself so nicely to being abused. Some of my personal favorites are:

Belicheat
Belichoke

MJD's blog about Belichick leaving the field early has over 13,300 comments posted on it. I've never seen 13,000 comments on a blog.

So I thought he might be deserving of his own personal thread over here. Have fun with America's new favorite passtime - trashing Belicheat, er Belichoke, I mean Belichick (I heard he was juggling two in Arizona last week)

Geesh, it's two seconds, big deal.

Nobody but Bill knows what it's like to be a HC of an 18-0 team, only to see them choke away a piece of NFL history. He still shook Coughlin's hand, but most likely wanted no part of the 3-ring circus of today's media. I don't blame him.

People like dancing on graves, I guess.

It aint a past time, its a show....

and who likes cheaters? not me....

So the Astros should give back that Word Series appearance and post-season wins since it was on the backs of two cheating pitchers, 'eh? ;)

People calling him "Belichoke" are a joke. Dude only has 3 rings as a HC and more rings as an assistance coach. He'll be back.

sure, if everyone else does.....

how far back does the cheating thing go? the freaking rams game!!!

they cheated, no argument about that, people just argue to justify it, but there is no justification for cheating.......

People justify hate, too.

You do realize that other NFL coaches admitted to stealing signals, yeah? And you understand that scouts have tried to watch other teams' practices for decades?

It is naive to believe that cheating is not part of the game. Just like getting caught and paying a price is part of the game.

Watch NFL Films long enough, and you'll quickly learn that players and coaches have been circumventing the rules and downright cheating since the beginning. The Championship Oakland Raiders coined the term "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying" as part of their team slogan. It is now celebrated NFL lore.

It's fun to watch so many folks get so emotional about something that has absolutely no effect on their lives. It's only entertainment at the end of the day.

And you still didn't answer my question about our beloved Astros. Their post-season success has been tainted now, right? Do you forgive them?

I can't stand Belichek as much as the next person, but people who ridiculed him for leaving the field early are being ridiculous...

As I said in the other thread, he congratulated Coughlin at mid-field before the refs. could clear the field to play out the last second or two when everyone assumed the game was over... Why would he go back out there??? He already congratulated the Giants, now let them celebrate.

Hate on Belichek all you want (and I do), but don't go reaching for stuff thats just not there...

I have more issue with his sportsmanship (running up the score, leaving last nite before the final whistle etc.) than I do with any of the cheating accusations. I have always found them way overblown/overrated, and I have no doubt that all 31 other teams have done what he did, no matter how vehemently they deny it.

But for him to sprint off the field? I wonder how guys like Joe Gibbs, who watched him go for it up 38-0 or something, or Cam Cameron, who watched him re-insert Brady when the Pats lead was "gasp" down to 42-21, or Dick Juaron, who watched the Pats pile it on and on and on at Ralph Wilson Stadium...all feel today? They all waited until 0:00 and shook his hand.

Karma was a ***** to him last nite more for those reasons, and I hope it continues into next season, and next. The cheating stuff? Whatever.

I dont condone any of that cheating, Inegrity counts for alot in my book. They cheated plain and simple, I mean tapeing a run through of the other team before a superbowl is just down right dirty. Theres no one holding a gun to anyones head making them cheat, its a choice. And to say cheating is part of the game is just stupid, I dont know what kind games you play, but its not tolerated where i come from.

About the Astros, yes, if roger took roids then the are, luckily ive always thought of roger as a baseball "whore" and couldnt care less what happens to him. But yes, I am still a huge fan and love my team no matter what, but luckily it was only andy and clemens both yankees in my mind. But it wasnt just the Astros most teams past is now tainted with these alogations. I think they should continue to teast and move on....

I guess you were one of the people that didn't see him shake Coughlin's hand, hug and congratulate him BEFORE before the refs and decided that they needed to clear the play because they determined that technically there was still a second on the clock... :gun:

Again, Hate on Belichek all you want (and I do), but don't go reaching for stuff thats just not there...

Leaving the feild was absolutely classless. But if he was a cheater he got what he deserved. Cheaters never win.

i thought the game was over too and then they put 1 sec back on......it's not that big of a deal really.....y come back out just for a kneel down

Damn that TB, out of respect for your opponent you just don't do that, whether it was 1 second or 1 minute. & it's the little things like this that get under people's skin. I remember when moss did it, he got the same reaction, why is it supposed to be different with him? Reminds me of Augie Gaurido not letting his team come out for the CWS after they lost 1 year.

& if Brady left without shaking hands then he's a POS too.

He just needs to man up & stop being a baby.

QFT

Runs up scores, cheats, is surly and is unlikeable but what was he supposed to do.

I would have done the same thing he did, or worse. Imagine watching your undefeated team lose at the last minute, on the big stage. Wow.

I don't lose a wink of sleep over him. I do lose sleep over the fact my team has yet to give me one lousy ring, let alone three.

Exactly, so what's 1 more sec of play to just stand there & go down with your team? His defense had to go back out there & we sure as hell know they didn't want to do it after giving up the game winning TD.

I liken it to those maury povich "who's the father" shows. The mother comes up there all "100%" confident that this 1 guy is the father & then when she gets proven wrong by the paternity tests, she breaks out crying to the back stage, moreso embarassed than upset that she still doesn't know who the baby's father is.

Dude is just a turd, plain & simple.

Because he ALREADY congratulated Coughlin, even gave him a bit of a hug... LET THE GIANTS CELEBRATE... Besides, Coughlin and Belichek are friends.. But the people that want to make crap up for their own agendas wont admit that...

Hate the guy for real crap - not made up crap....

Couldn't agree with you more about being a turd.. He's a pompous dolt..

No, no i don't think there was any ill will towards coughlin or anything, but IMO that's even more reason why you extend every courtesy to him......... b/c he's your friend. kind of like Lovie & Tony did last year, you know.

The giants were gonna celebrate regardless, all he had to do was bring his ass back 2 the sideline or stop close to exit like moss did, this bum wouldn't even come out of the locker room.

He seems very uncomfortable with any type of news coverage...when the focus is on him he just seems such a crab.

I didn't think much of him going off the field. I saw the replay and that game was over.

Uh..he's the kind of person you love to "hate" until he's part of your team/family and then he's hunky dory.

He's a fantastic coach. And at the end of the day I think that's probably all he wants to do is just coach. All the other...the TV, the press I think he just hates. And it shows.

Any of you who think that this 'cheating' actually effected the outcome of a football game . . . are more than just ignorant, you're dumber than a box of rocks.

Belichick is a great football coach who has three rings and probably will get a few more.

We could all only dream how good the Texans would be if he were the coach of the Texans. You wouldn't be calling him any silly names then.

Be it in practice, on film, inside another man's house, or at an NIT basketball game, Bill Belichick can't help but take notice of some untapped potential. TMZ brings us this transcendent image from Florida's victory in the NIT last night. Clearly Nick Calathes' triple double wasn't the only to impress the Pats coach.

i am sure he is looking at something else, but camera angel doesn't do it justice :photos:

He must like the Babe of the Day thread.:thisbig:

Honestly after looking at it, kinda looks like he is looking in the general direction but not right at her.

That's the 'ol turn your head a general direction and look out of the corner of your eye trick....'

Well he does have experience at spying.......

I will not post the link for obvious reasons TB (rick rolled to much?) but check out the EPOD(Dante thread).

People hate him because of his ability to focus on the task @ hand. He also is driven to accomplish his stated goals. I.E. Super Bowls, Women, ETC.
