First it was Jeff Garcia, and now another veteran Pro Bowl quarterback is being given his walking papers.

FOXSports.com has learned the Bills have decided to release quarterback Drew Bledsoe, and they are expected to announce the decision Wednesday, likely at a press conference.

Due to league rules, Buffalo can not officially release Bledsoe until Feb. 22, but the veteran has already been informed of the decision.

Not that big of a suprise, they are really high Losman and to say they have been disappointed in Bledsoe is an understatement.

I thought the Bills had a good season last year when they were not definitely suppose to and Drew had played fairly well during the year. Isn't that so?

I am surprised this didn't come sooner. At least for J.P. Losman to become the starter. He probably would have become to starter if he hadn't gotten hurt at the start of the season. I remember coming into the 2003 season that J.P. Losman was ranked higher before his senior season than Eli Manning at Tulane, so this guy was doing something right.

I don't expect Drew to get a starting job...........he has been in this leauge for over 10 years and I question if he still has it. A backup or tutoring job somewhere would be the perfect fit for him.

You do realize that Vinny Testaverde is a NFL starting QB. If Vinny can start, so can Drew.

And just as you say this, rumors out are that Dallas will be looking at Bledsoe:

ESPN.com has learned that there were discussions between the Bills and Dallas Cowboys officials in recent days about a potential trade. It is not known if the Cowboys opted not to pursue those talks or if Bledsoe advised the Bills he did not wanted to be traded. Such a deal would have reunited Bledsoe with Bill Parcells, the coach who brought him into the league as the first overall prospect selected in the 1993 draft.

Parcells seems to still be lookin' to bring back that magic of his old glory days. Looking back won't bring what he is looking for.. :twocents:

The only time Drew was good, was when he handed the ball off to Willis. Drew was horrible this year. And the last few as well. Even his running game, and great D couldnt save him.

There was a game between Bledsoe and Marino that was phenomenal. I think it was the season opener in Bledsoe's second season. The game went back and forth before the Dolphins finally beat the Patriots. That put him on the map. It is sad that he never lived up to that potential. He has had some solid seasons (year he went to Super Bowl and first year in Buffalo, to name a couple), but has never been consistent.

What happened to Drew Bledsoe can be summed up in two words. TOM BRADY! Drew never got his confidence back after Brady stepped in and took the Pats to the SB. He plays like a beaten man!

Wow... it looks like the Cowboys are resembling the Redskins more and more with these apparent "quick fixes". Like the players or not - I'm glad the Texans don't take this approach.

Drew would be an upgrade over Vinny. Its actually painful to watch Vinny even drop back.....he makes Drew look like a sprinter. Plus Drew has a much better arm than Vinny. I wouldn't want to see either on the hawks, but Drew is the lesser of two evils. I think he still has a few years left in him. Vinny on the other hand, should have been put out to pasture already.

I've read where the Bills have some hot rookie QB that they want to go ahead and put into place as their "franchise" guy. I remember they started out very poorly last year but got it going as the year went on.

JP Losman 22nd pick from last year's draft.

I'm not familiar with that guy but that's no great shakes.

It's probably a good idea for Buffalo. They have a good defense and a good RB. Might as well get the young kid in there and see what he's made of. Who knows he may turn out like Big Ben.

No.

As bad as Vinny is...he's still more mobile in every way than Bledsoe.

Plus Drew has a much better arm than Vinny.

No...he doesn't. Both had cannons in their glory days. But their glory days are so far behind them that neither can claim this (arm strength) as a positive anymore.

I wouldn't want to see either on the hawks, but Drew is the lesser of two evils. I think he still has a few years left in him. Vinny on the other hand, should have been put out to pasture already.

As a Cowboys fan, I don't want to see either of them on my team as well. I've got to live with Vinny for now. But if Bledsoe comes in that may mean I'll have to put up with this past '06. And I just don't want that to be an option.

Give the ball to Henson and see what he can do. If he can't get it done, at least you'll know he can't and you can go a different direction in the '06 draft instead of picking up whatever washed up vet QB becomes available each free agency.
