What do we think? The Browns released him. Maybe it would come in and be a back up to DC. . . I think it's highly unlikely, but hey, you never know.

i figure the organization wont like a few of the qualities he posesses, and u think Peek is wild on the field he'd be worse in the same locker room as Garcia !

Ther are about 4 or 5 teams that will probably take a hard look at Garcia as a starter. I have no idea why the Browns let him go, he had a couple of good games last season and had problems with an injury but it's not like he had a lot of talent around him in Cleveland. The Bears, Cardinals, and maybe even Lions will look take a good look at him I think. There is pretty much no way he ends up here even as a backup, he will probably want at least a decent amount of money.

Nope. He will want to much money to be a backup. Besides we are grooming Ragone to be our backup and maybe one day trade him to be a starter somewhere. I think Tampa Bay is a serious player for him, and we will have to watch how this year's QB carrosel very closely. Drew Bledsoe was just kicked out of Buffalo, and we still got the Drew Brees-Phillip Rivers situation in San Diego, the Matt Hasselbeck problem in Seatle, and I have heard Joey Harrington could be cut as well.

Huh? Is there some history between Peek & Garcia?

Garcia doesn't have a good enough arm for this offense. We need a guy who can throw down the field in our vertical passing game. Garcia's weakness is the long ball, and he is more of a scrambling, wco type passer.

Here's my wacky scenario:

Garcia signs with the Lions to rejoin his old coach.

Lions release Harrington.

Texans sign Harrington to back up Carr........

actually, forget I just typed that.

Yeah the Texans sign the QB that was taken right after Carr to back him up...........that would be funny right there I don't care who you are. How many times has two QBs from the same 1st round of the same draft been together on a rooster? (Just a ?)

I don't know how many times that's happened, but it did happen in 1980 with the Raiders. Jim Plunkett came off the bench early in the season to replace an injured Dan Pastorini. The Raiders went on to win the Super Bowl. Plunkett was the 1st pick in the '71 draft, Pastorini went #3.

So every time a player gets released are we going to see the inevitable "[INSERT PLAYER NAME] a Texan" thread?

lets hope not, i dont feel like answering any Drew Bledsoe a Texan, or Kurt Warner a Texan, or anyone else.. WR's and situations that are real, i understand.. but we dont need a quarterback to push DC, like his counterpart Joey Hoey apparently needs says steve marriuchi (SP?)

yeah that tends to happen everywhere though . :heh:

I just dont see Garcia taking a back up job .

Nope. Then Terrell would just go on ESPN and say Carr is gay or one of the coaches has a crush on Garcia and that's why they got him. Pass him up. I think he'll end up in Tampa or Detroit.

He is not a product of a system, he is simply good in a system, the west coast offense. I loved what he showed me with the browns, but you could tell he needed that west coast offense. So no, he doesn't fit with you guys, but he would fit in Detroit

I believe him when he says he's not gay, you believe him Vinny but Terrell is convinced otherwise or that's what he's said in interviews. I was just making fun of Owens. Somebody said on here that Jeff dates some Playboy model.

LOL. I'm sorry SESupergenius, I didn't mean to bother you by creating this thread. :)

check that, a playboy playmate of the year. He was involved in a court case because his playmate girlfriend kicked one of Jeffs ex-girlfriends in the face at a stripclub. The story goes she swung around a pole and kicked her. That's not only hot, it's highly acrobatic.

:boxing: :boxing: I'm a girl and I'll go on record as saying Jeff Garcia isn't worth catfighting over.

Is Tony Banks gone, or is he going to come back if no starter opportunities come his way? I think he was in a one year contract this past season, right? I think you gotta have a quality guy in a QB backup role. If the Texans get a veteran guy who can start if need be, then they are in a very good situation.

Jeff Garcia's Girlfriend Carmella DeCesare:

You guys are funny.

She is very pretty.

As for Banks I had heard him say he wanted to go somewhere he could start but I don't know if that's etched in stone. He may have changed his mind. What a cushy job. Earning a ton of money, you don't get hit and if you come in and do well you are the hero.

Id like to see what ragone can do as the back up. he was a great pro prospect during his Jr. year, and slipped to the third round because he lost a bunch of his teamates during his 3rd year. We should have sent him to europe last year, but better late than never. Im intrigued to see how he does there.

:howdy: Whats up with Browns QBs and playmates .Tim Couch was dating the one with the last name of Kozar ( not Bernie ) . Cade Mcnown then the QB for the Bears via UCLA took her .

I don't have anything to back this up because it is just my opinion, but I think Banks will be back next year, which I would love.

With the release of QB's such as Garcia, Warner, and Bledsoe I think Banks will have a tough time being picked up with that sort of competition. I think he'll be offered a job, but it will be a back up position. Why would he leave us fo another back up job? Just my opinion

If Jeff Garcia's gay, then So am I, in fact just call me a flaming **** for liking his lover, Carmella DeCesare
Carmella%20DeCesare%20091.jpg

T.O. can have Nicolette Sheridan, I'll be gay with DeCesare :bouncey:

I was just reading an article about Nicolette earlier; somebody commented on some website that she has had some really bad plastic surgery and she came back with the comment that she has never had any....I'm not so sure she's being honest about that because there was a marked difference in her face and it didn't look like aging. Somebody said she looked like a transsexual!

Anyway back to topic if there is one to salvage.

I'm down with giving Ragone the back up spot. I think with given the oppertunity to grow in Europe he could be a quality QB. I don't think throwing him to the wolves like they did two years ago was the right thing to do but than again we were in a tight spot. I've had it with Banks thinking he's a starting QB. If that were the case he would have been a starter years ago.

Jeff Garcia! No Way! Bad fit for team. He is a west coast QB;not strong enough arm. Don't think he would be happy as backup.

What happened to tolerence and diversity. If 3.8 of our players are not gay, then we are out of balance. I demand an investigation. And, I will volunteer to find out if Nicolette Sheridan is a Trans-Sexual. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

I would hope that we have gotten past the point where a persons sexual orientation doesn't determine whether or not he is a good football player.

When I said "gay", I wasn't referring to his sexual orientation. I was referring to his skills. When he was with the 49ers, I thought he would be a good QB for them. But once he started "choking", he wasn't as good as I thought he was. Why do you think the Browns let him go after one season?

why just because its 2005 ??? i havent gotten over it !

No, not because it's 2005, but because our country as gone through slavery, a civil war, women's suffrage, the civil rights movement, and the gay rights movement.

All of which were fighting for equality.

There is also that document called the Declaration of Independence which states that all men are created equal.

I would just like to see some information that shows that a homosexual man can not run an effective route, pick up a blocking assignment, cut the corner and take it downfield, throw a football, or knock the living day lights out of a receiver when he goes across the middle, just as well as a heterosexual man.

...you must have a boring life...lighten up a little :soapbox:

Not nice. Texans Pride is one of the best posters on this board.

I think we're all old enough to know there are likely homosexual pro football players and certainly they are entitled to play as much as anybody else is....

The thread started to swerve when I mentioned that TO said Jeff is gay and I think that's been debunked since he's dating some hot Playmate model as somebody posted. Jeff will find a job with some team and make his millions and probably continue with his Playmate.

Look plain and simple,

JEFF GARCIA SUCKS, he could never win a big game and when he did, he would find a way to screw things up the next week to a team that was below 500 and lost to them by 20 or more points. The guy should of stay in Canada and freeze his @$$ up there instead of coming to the States and trying to prove what he really wasn't. And why would you all want him, the Texans already have decent back ups and there is 1 player that u all need to keep an eye on after he comes back from injury and that guy is B.J. Symons. That kid has an arm to kill for, and with this offense he is going to put up some very good numbers. And dont be surprised if he is second string by this year cuz he has all the weapons a QB wants.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey rhc564, I'm all about good humor and razzing people, but I'm pretty sure there are some homosexul people who like football, and I'd even bet we have some on the boards that wouldn't find being discriminated against very funny.

But that's just my opinion, you surely are entitled to yours as well.

 Gotta love the dancing banana...that gets me every time.

BTW, thanks WWJD

hey Texans Pride, you know you are the only one here complaining? :listening You take things too seriously. I'm sorry if the statement offended you, but [Rhc564]has a point there. And to make the point clear, I wasn't calling Jeff Garcia "gay" because he likes guys. It's just a way of saying he is a bad player. Try to keep up with our generation. "Gay" doesn't just mean "happy" anymore, you know.

i'm not saying a gay guy cant play football, personally i dont agree with gays. You wanna talk about movement ? ok maybe i should start a movement for serial killers our even rapists to be released, what can i say a sin is a sin, so one can sin openly so should the others !!!! Just cause he's a good football player doesnt mean i have to like him or agree with the homosexual movements for equality. So women wanna be equal well how about the next time they draft "which they will" women get drafted as well, and then we'll see how fair they want it ! Sorry ladies i just feel fair is fair and most obviously agree !

Killing is against the law, and being gay is not. This has to be the most ignorant comment of the year.
