Never really made a full first round mock draft before, but I figure I can give it a try.
1. Miami, DE Chris Long, Virginia. It just fits. A combination of Matt Roth and Chris Long on each sides of a 3-4 defensive line sounds potentially dominant.
2. St. Louis, DT Glenn Dorsey, LSU. They got Carriker in the first round last year, but they can still use help at the DT spot with Dorsey.
3. Atlanta, RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas. They gave up Drew Brees and LT for Michael Vick. Didn't exactly work out for them. With no QB deserving a selection over McFadden, the Falcons close on a 2 headed monster with McFadden and Dunn.
4. Oakland, DT Sedrick Ellis, USC. Sapp is 35 now and looks to be losing his steam. They've got some decent backups, but Ellis will get significant play time early and could be Sapp's replacement.
5. Kansas City, OT Jake Long, Michigan. Kansas City needs help on it's offensive line pretty badly, I can't see them passing on the best offensive lineman in the draft.
6. New York (J), DE Calais Campbell, Miami. Big 6-8 280 lb DE for their 3-4 defensive line. This guy is like Mario Williams, but just not quite as thick. He's a junior with something like 19 sacks and 38 tackles for loss. I could have gone with Matt Ryan here, but they have Clemens and Pennington.
7. New England, DE/LB Vernon Gholston, Ohio State. Let this kid learn from former Ohio State player Mike Vrabel and recently injured Rosevelt Colvin. Could be a terror coming off the edge.
8. Baltimore, QB Matt Ryan, Boston College. Ravens need a QB bad.
9. Cincinnati, OLB Keith Rivers, USC. Cincinnati's defense is pretty bad, they could use a young quick linebacker to help their team speed.
10. New Orleans, CB Mike Jenkins, South Florida. New Orleans has the worst secondary in the league probably. With Mike Jenkins they get a corner with excellent size, experience, and athletic ability.
11. Buffalo, WR DeSean Jackson, California. Buffalo has some receivers, but their only receiver worthy of #1 or #2 is Evans, behind him they have Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish. Jackson fits right in with these speedy receivers.
12. Denver, S Kenny Phillips, Miami. Denver has some great corners, but they are getting hurt with poor play from their strong safety position. John Lynch is aging as well and it would do the Broncos alot of good to grab a safety like Phillips here.
13. Carolina, WR Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma. The Panthers have nobody outside Steve Smith at the WR position. Give your QBs someone else to throw to.
14. Chicago, QB Brian Brohm, Louisville. He falls right into their lap and they take him. No more Grossman vs. Griese.
15. Detroit, QB Andre Woodson, Kentucky. Detroit has Kitna, but nobody behind him. Kitna is aging, and why not bring a QB in and give him some time to learn how to play with these explosive receivers. I was thinking about going offensive line here because Kitna got sacked 50 times last year.
16. Arizona, RB Felix Jones, Arkansas. Edge took 80% of the carries last year. The Cardinals need a change of pace back and someone to take the load off of Edge before they run him into the ground.
17. Minnesota, CB Aqib Talib, Kansas. The Vikings have a great rush defense, but their pass defense needs to get stronger. Talib is a great player, worth taking here.
18. Houston, OT Ryan Clady, Boise State. Clady slips to 18 and the Texans can't pass on a left tackle that can anchor their line for years.
19. Philadelphia, CB Antone Cason, Arizona. The Eagles need a WR but Cason won the Thorpe award and they could use some talented youth in their secondary.
20. Tampa Bay, WR Early Doucet, LSU. Tampa needs some more weapons in the passing game. Doucet should add another dimension.
21. Washington, WR Adarius Bowman, Oklahoma State. The Redskins also need another wide receiver. Bowman is coming off of a knee injury, but you could argue that he is the most athletic wide receiver in this draft easily. 6-3 220 and fast.
22. Dallas, RB Jonathan Stewart, Oregon. With Jones leaving and Barber's history with complimentary running backs, the Cowboys take Stewart who can take alot of the load off of Barber.
23. Pittsburgh, OT Sam Baker, USC. Pittsburgh always seems to struggle in protection during crucial games. They need some help protecting their QB.
24. Tennessee, WR Limas Sweed, Texas. Vince needs some more weapons it appears and he has a history with Sweed.
25. Seattle, RB Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois. Alexander needs some help running the rock or he will continue to get injured.
26. Jacksonville, WR Mario Manningham, Michigan. Ok they have their QB. Manningham will add the receiver that the Jags were looking for when they took Matt Jones.
27. San Diego, LB Dan Connor, Penn State. Connor falls right into their lap and they seal their linebackers up with this guy.
28. Dallas, CB Reggie Smith, Oklahoma. The Cowboys secondary wasn't exactly great last year, why not grab another guy from OU.
29. San Francisco, DT Pat Sims, Auburn. San Fran needs some strength up front.
30. Green Bay, OLB Xavier Adibi, Virginia Tech. The Packers could have a really sick linebacking core with Adibi, Hawk, and Barnett.
31. New York (G), CB Leodis McKelvin, Troy. Giants need another corner, this guy fits the bill.
