Bob McNair class

I don't know if anyone caught it at the end-of-game congratulatory handshakes, Mr. McNair out there telling Jag players they had a good game...I saw him talking to Quinn Gray...McNair is all class...glad he is our owner. :texflag:

I think you're dead on correct. Nice to see him out there...win or lose, shaking hands with his players and those of the other team.

Bob's a business man first and fore most. Being a class act becaue its profitable to him.

From another thread:
Corporate sponsors + PSLs + marketing company with a football division = mixed signals to hardcore Texans fanatics

This is pretty lame on the Texans part, but I'm not surprised. As long as they get 6 seasons of sell outs for a crappy product, they could really care less about the little guy or individual fan.
Shaking hands and good gaming the other team is the begining of future contract talks. People would rather work for a friend then the enemy.

Geez, I'm cynical!

Actually no, that's about right. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find free agents that WANT to come play for my team? For years people thought I was stockpiling all that cap space because I was cheap and greedy. Well, that's true but on top of that nobody wants to work for me. It's frustrating sometimes! I tried to get Bill Parcells to come be my head of football operations and he said I gave him that "creepy grandpa" feeling and turned me down flat. Same thing when I tried to hire Jimmy Johnson a few years ago.

Exactly. And its not a knock on McNair, its just another indication of how badly he wants to compete and win. BSing with FAs or guys who are friends of FAs or future FAs is just part of the competition.

I met him at the Texans Taste of Victory and he was a stand up guy. Shook his hand and all that jazz and he even posed for a picture.

FWIW, I've met Bud Adams before and he was a really niiiiiice guy, too.

I'm not comparing the two, but face it, the last thing a marketing savvy billionaire like McNair is going to do is be a public a-hole and ruin the goodwill that he has purchased with the city of Houston. Public relations is all about the smooze factor.

I don't dispute Bob's wanting to win. But who's more important to him, the PSL holders or scalpers and ticket brokers who sell their tickets to the other teams fans.

Its uncanny how the Texans send out e-mails before the games or how I seem to get a phone call once or twice a year to "just take a survey". Folks, this is all a carefully constructed marketing ploy to keep you in your seats. The e-mails gives you a closeness to an otherwise distant ownership, while the survey allows you a say so in an organization which you have none.

Will there be anything done about droves of fans from other teams who migrate to our games each week? Na, I doubt it. That would risk a sell out crowd.
