If at #13 and any one of these guy's are available which one(s) would you definetly take and in which order?

1) Derrick Johnson MLB - 6'4" 230 4.50
2) Braylon Edwards WR -
3) Mike Williams WR -
4) Antrel Rolle CB - 6'1" 202 4.50
5) Jamaal Brown OT -
6) "PAC MAN" Jones CB - 5'11" 185 4.40
7) Alex Barron OT -
8) Carlos Rogers CB - 6'1" 194 4.45
9) Ernest Shazor S - 6'4" 226 4.45
10)Marcus Spears DE - 6'4" 297 4.80

I would like to hear what all of you think and what do you consider our most pressing need to be?

Oh Yeah have any of you heard about that WR from Northern Colorado that is 6'6" 236 and runs a 4.53 40.........3rd to 4th round gamble???

I'd go with Baron. Offensive line is the only position group that doesn't have a pro-bowl caliber player. ( Carr and Davis in backfield), Johnson reciever, Smith, or Walker D line, Sharper linebacker, Robinson, Glenn, Defensive backfield.

We need to have a probowl caliber offensive lineman, plain and simple.

I agree but wouldn't you trade down to the later first round and also pick up a second round to allow yourself to plug other glaring weak spots? Another OL perhaps or DL, LB or even Safety/ Glenns replacement? And if not what exactly can they do to have a prolific pass rush?

I would go for Barron right now. If we were to by some chance pick up somebody like Wahle or Andruzzi in FA to bolster the line I would shoot for Spears.

as much as i would want this draft to be a defensive draft i must agree if Barron is there at the 13th pick we would have to take him because he would be a huge upgrade over wand and would give Carr some peace of mind...plus we can get a good 3-4 DE or NT in the 2nd round on in the draft

i'd take Marcus Spears, i think DL is the biggest issue that needs to be adressed. And i doubt any changes will be made to the o-line !

There is not one thing to support that idea other than your supposition that he will be better. Keep in mind that offensive players take 2-3 years to work their way into a line and MOST never reach top level. To say he for sure will be better than Wand is rediculose. Wand had a pretty good first year at LT and we should see additional improvement in his second year actually playing the position. IMO, the most glaring need is Glenn's replacement. Top CBs are early 1st round picks and this will most likely be our last chance to have a pick in the top half of the draft.

1) Derrick Johnson - Defense wins championships, and DJ is the best defensive player in the draft.
2) Marcus Spears - Athletic, versatile, well coached. Potential compares to Bears DT Tommie Harris.
3) Jammal Brown – Will be better than Barron, could start out at guard. Has defensive lineman type athleticism.
4) Travis Johnson - Can play any of the 34 line positions. Similar in playing style to the Pats' DE Seymour.
5) Shaun Cody - Premier pass rusher among the DT prospects. Could backup all the line positions & come in as a nickel pass rusher.
6) Shawn Merriman - Could eventually solve the Texans pass rushing problems. Not as pro ready as most of the other top rated prospects.
7) Antrel Rolle - Would be better in a cover 2, but could still be a big upgrade. Outstanding against the big receivers that are trending in the NFL. Glenn could move to the nickel corner.
8) Alex Barron - I'm concerned about his shoulder problems & he's not a great run blocker. Still, he's likely an upgrade at what I consider to be a need position.
9) Pac-Man Jones - Eventually would replace Aaron Glenn, would start out as nickel corner & return man.
10)Mike Williams - Outstanding player who is more of a luxury than need.
10A) Braylon Edwards - Not stopwatch fast, but has field speed & gets separation off the line with his strength. Attacks the ball in the air & can make the tough catch in the crowd. But, Edwards would be underutilized in the Texans current offense.

DERRICK JOHNSON

I wonder what would happen if the Texans had the opportunity to draft him and did not? anarchy, bedlam loss of fan base, or the like.

Kinda like when the Eagles lost all their fans when they took McNabb over Williams huh?

I don't know if DJ is going to participate in the combines, but if he somehow has a bad workout or something comes up from his past his stock will fall. At this point we just don't know who's stock will rise up and wether or not DJ is really that good ( i believe he's that good). Every year there's some players who's stock will shoot like a rocket and some who's stock will plummet. If DJ is really that good and if he's available at 13 then yes we should draft him because defense wins championships. If somehow he's not as good as he was hyped to be then we should not draft him or should we? He could be like a Terrell Suggs type. Remember Suggs had a poor workout but now he's a very good player with the Ravens or maybe it's just playing next to Ray Lewis helps him out a lot...as you can see I'm confused..hehe..anyway my point is that we just have to wait and see some of the number that come out the combine and personal workouts. Even though numbers don't always tell the truth, they are a good starting point.

Suggs had miserable workouts, not just his 40 times but I think he also did
poorly in strength tests. Even had a 2nd batch of workouts and did not improve his performances, but went to on be a steller OLB. After that I've wondered how much they discount the results of those workout performances for most positions except WR & CB.

Antrel Rolle! I think he would be great for the team. He's a playmaker and multi-facated. I'm not concerned about whether he can play CB full time or not. I do know that I'd like to have a large cover guy on this team since Robinson, Glenn, Faggins, Simmons, McCree are all vertically challenged. I also like the idea of having Rolle blitzing from the corner or from the safety position... Or, slamming down on the WR as Robinson blitzes from the corner... Or, just playing centerfield and ballhawking.

I wouldn't mind Derrick Johnson either- but I can't imagine that he'll actually be there at 13. Plus, I think cap money is better focused on the secondary and the front 3 in the salary cap era.

DJ He is by far the best defensive if not all around player in this draft. He is ready to play in the NFL right now, no adjustment time. He is a playmaker and a beast when it comes to attacking the ball. DRob, Babin, DJ, Earl, our defense is going to be AMAZING within the next few years. If we got DJ i would go absolutely nuts.

I agree DJ would give us a bad @$$ defense and with him replacing foreman we would rock.....on that note (defence wins championships we still need OL help.) can't mis out on OL in the first or second round period.

1)Brown or Barron
2)Shazor
3)spears
4)Edwards (although we might should draft a speed guy since we already have a physical one in 'dre)
5)Johnson or ANY corner (convert johnson outsidelinebacker to replace Wong)

I know they wont be drafted in this order but thats our priority

DJ in a heartbeat. He is a game changer. When you can get one of those on your team, you gotta grab em.
