Why are we so bad on the road?

We've only lost 2 games at home but we've only won 2 games on the road this season. Why are we like the AFC Lions? We play tough at home but we play bad on the road, why is that? I dont want to blame it on youth or injuries, I think if we can get it done at home we should be able to get it done on the road.

Is it preparation? Does the team not get in town with enough time to rest before the games? Do they not spend enough time practicing before road games like they do for home games?

This perplexes me, why is it that we come out so flat and uninspired on the road? Other teams (looking at you Cowboys) play better on the road than they do at home it seems but we cant even come close to how we play at home.

Its like every player on this team has a twin brother and they let their twin brother suit up for the away games.

I guess the team depends on feeding off of the crowd too much. The atmosphere in Reliant is awesome. They just need to try and bring some of the intensity with them on the road. Maybe we should suggest a fan exchange program to McNair so some of us get shipped to out of town games. I'd volunteer. :texflag:

I don't know what it is.

What I do know is that 5 of their 8 road games have been against playoff teams and teams still in the playoff hunt. They lost all 5.
2-1 against the sub .500 teams on the road.

At home, so far, they've just played 3 playoff or playoff potential teams out of the 7 home games they've had. They are 1-2 in those 3 and 4-0 against the sub .500 teams at home.

In total, of the 8 games against teams with a winning record, the Texans are 1-7. Against teams with a losing record, 6-1.

Maybe they just can't beat the good teams and it has nothing to do with home or road.

You beat me to it.

Well I actually think that being a young team has something to do with it too. But mostly we're just not good enough to beat good teams.

It's a "step" kind of thing. We've seen this before with the Oilers. They sucked through most of the 80's and then they started to climb up to semi-respectable and that first took shape as a good "home" team. The next step is to learn to take that on the road.

That's in addition to the comments previously made about the quality of the opponents. We're beating the lousy teams right now. that's also a first step along the path to being good. We beat the crappy teams (mostly) when we play them and sometimes sneak up on a good team. We just have to keep building and getting better.

Re: Why are we so bad on the road?

At the end of the day, we just aren't a very good football team. We have improved - obviously, but we are no where near ready to go into hostile environments and win on the road.. Heck, I think that Atlanta game was more telling than people realized.
