Who and why do think will be the top & bottom of our division next year?

Colts 11-5 Still the team to beat in our division. They still have way too much offense for anyone in the division.

Texans 10-6 Continue to improve, with a good draft should get a Wildcard.

Jags 10-6 Solid team, but Texans get the tiebreaker. (we own them)

Titans 7-9 Should be competitive, but Rebuilding?

Colts 11-5 If Edge returns...Still an offensive powerhouse...I don't see any of the defenses in our division stopping them...

Jags 10-6 Nice D, but the lack of a good O keeps them out of the division lead...

Texans 9-7 We make a playoff push, but don't get in...

Titans 6-10 Two words, "Cap Hell"...

believe this our nor i see it as

colts 10-6

texans 9-7 (wild card)

Jags 7-9

titans 6-10

if we can beat the colts even once than i see us at 10-6 and colts at 9-7

games are not in order, i just got it off sportsline.com and just put what i felt are realistic wins and losses

9-7 wont get us the wildcard in the AFC next year. In the NFC: yes, but in the AFC: no. The Bills, Ravens, and Jags were all 9-7 and didnt get in. We have to be at least 10-6 in the AFC to get in.

i actually like the sound of that, but *** good as that all sounds, i think we all saw that just cause a team looks easy doesnt mean you'll win ! So some of those i couldnt be so sure on, but i do see us having a fairly close record to what you said !

ok fiddy, i'm sure that you are aware how fast things can change, it just so happened this year the AFC dominated all around, i mean arizona had like 4 wins and was still in the hunt at the beginning of december for a NFC wild card. I can almost bet ya that the AFC will not be near as close next season, so WE CAN GET IN WITH 9 WINS !!!!!

i think my predictions are based on a team playing to the best of their ability everytime out, obviously teams sometimes dont bring their A game every time out, but this is totally based on a teams potential and hoping they can live up to it

if our team can start playing good every week, i mean look one week we shut out jacksonville and the next get beat by the 2nd worst team in the NFL !!!

The AFC could be stronger next year:
AFC East:
Pats are the Pats and the Bills had 9 wins and almost got 10 if they wouldnt of lost to the Steelers backups. The Jets got 10, too. So 3 teams with 10 win potential in the AFC East

AFC North:
Steelers own the division but the Ravens had 9 wins with no WR and the Bengals are steadly improving. One 10 win team and two teams with potential of 9 wins.

AFC West:
Chargers and Broncos had 10 wins and KC, if they get defense, could win 10 so there are 3 teams with 10 win ability in the West.

AFC South:
Colts own it. Jags chocked down the stretch or they could of had 10. 3 teams with 10 win ability.

Not saying that every team will win 10 games of course, but there are 10 or 11 teams with 10 win ability in the AFC. We need 10 wins to get in the playoffs.

ok fiddy well honestly do you think we can get into the play-offs next season ?
Yes I do. We just need to get 10 wins, which we are capable of doing. Improved by 1 from first to second year. Improved by 2 between second and third year. We will improve by 3 between third and fourth year.

I really doubt that the Jags will get 10 wins. Think of them in 04 as the 03 Cowboys. Now think of them in 05 as the 04 Cowboys.

Sigh. the thought of J-ville, Dallas, and the tacks all under .500 next year brings a smile to my face. :monkey:

man i am suprised fiddy, i dunno why but every time i read something ya write it has always seemed negeative in the past !

Why did you put an L for the Bills? I mean we beat them (in Buffalo) in our 2nd year, and our team this year was better and will be getting better next year. Plus if you look at the schedule they had this year they only beat 2 teams that had winning records and the other 7 teams were at .500 or less. They had a very easy schedule this year. So it would be 12-4 for the Texans!!!

either that or 10-6 because you shouldn't just assume the Seahawks and Rams are a W.

But either way next year is our year!

haha and i suppose you dont think the bills have been tring to improve there team as well ?? we are not the only team trying to get better so we can get to the SB !

Doesn't matter how much they improve if they keep Bledsoe because hes the reason they suck. And with the schedule they have for '05 it looks like they'll b pickin early in the '06 draft theres only playing bout 3 or 4 teams who might have losing records.

did ya happen to look at our record ? how many teams did we beat with winning records ? i LOVE the texans to death but honestly we didnt exactly knock out any heavy weights last season !

Well if you truly think we'll lose to them than you didn't watch the game last year were the Texans beat the bills.

dude a lot of things are different since then, including the fact that the bill have Willis McGahee now, things can change in 2 years, i would love to see the texans win, and it was hard for me to say they would lose to the bills, it just looks like a game the texans might not win...thats all

I really dont care who it is that the Texans face, I think with a real NFL off-season under D-Rob and Babins belt along with whoever we get in FA and the draft, we can pretty muck hang with any team in the NFL and have a good chance to win.

Colts- 12-4
Texans- 10-6
Jags- 8-8
Titans- 6-10

We are at least a wild card team.

i kind of find it interesting that everyone is automatically tagging the colts......i agree they generally are the team to beat, but if they lose edgerrin james then i dont think they will be nearly as sucessfull. I know they are a pass happy franchise, and peyton manning is the next coming of jesus on a football field and all that, but i think that offense is a lot more dependant on edge and the threat of him rushing than they would like to admit. James Mungro anyone? nahhhhhhh........division title-texans....its doable. Defense wins championships.......and the colts? not so much

I still don't understand why everyone thinks that the Jags will lose more games this year than last, when they are losing noone yet gaining more. How does that work?

It's called "homerism" :D

Can't really in true honesty give any feedback until the Free Agent shuffle and Draft Day come to pass. Will be interesting to see if anyone changes their mind on their posts in May. :hmmm:

I figured the Texans would improve from last season... even though I'm a Jag, I didn't think they'd have less wins. If you guys are going to do rankings, at least put your whole "hatred" thing aside and actually make sense.

1. Indy (manning will single-handidly win them at least 10 games)
2. Houston (pass rush seems to be improving, and we are gonna get something good for sharper if hes dealt)
3. jax- offense issues
4. tennessee- no mason. they havent improved the personel since last yrs 5 or 6 wins, or 7...i forgot.

I never said I was leaving. I was done trying to put reason into what minds you have left.
Do they teach you to add in Jacksonville? Let's see:

What is 21+20
What is 6+ZERO

Do the two numbers you get remind you of anything? My goodness...I'm getting ahead of myself...do they even teach you to read there?

Try reading this sentence:

I, Lone Jags fan, promise to accept the fact Houston is and forever always will be my daddy.

Like most teams in the NFL, I think the Jags won some games they should have lost and lost some they should have won. Records - while the only thing that matter - aren't a precise measurement of how good a team is or isn't. If they were, Pittsburgh could add a corner and 16-0 would be a sure thing.

All that being said, barring some pretty big surprises, playing the NFC West should mean Texans' record has the potential to improve (we were a disappointing 1-3 against the NFC North). The AFC North doesn't look that much harder than the AFC West (we were 2-2). I'd be disappointed if we didn't at least hold the line in either division.

I guess the difference between the Texans and the Jags last year is the Texans (for whatever reason) seemed to lose all the close games - only one of our 7 wins was within 9 points, 5 of our 9 losses were.

The Jags won only one game that wouldn't have been reversed by a 8-point TD. 3 of their 7 losses were within 9 points.

While that's to the Jags' credit, it also makes it much harder for them to improve their record. They're defending 8 1-score games while only "attacking" 3. The Texans are defending 1 and "attacking" 5. Both teams play an easier schedule this year, but the Jags went 6-2 against the part of the schedule that got easier, whereas the Texans were 3-5.

All that said, I do think there's a very good chance both teams end up at 10-6.

You can't even take this and say that this is why the Texans are better than Jacksonville. If so, we beat the Colts... you didn't. We almost beat the Steelers, holding them to 17 and getting 16. It is a fact that when the Jags play a hard team, they do awesome, but when they play a sucky team, they fall apart. What team do the Texans fit in as?

sure I can, it's a season sweep and it kept you from the playoffs, but my point is can you add?

I admit that you won... but because you guys won, you are trying to make it seem like your team is better than ours. If that's the case, the Jaguars should be as good as the Colts since we split with them, but that isn't the case.

I know about the 41-6 difference. What does that have to do with you guys thinking the Jaguars will not be a better team next year than they were this year?

It's just mind boggling.

What is mind boggling is that a fan from a team that got swept actually expects anyone on the team that swept them to think they are better. Doesn't matter of it is a 2-14 team that beat a 14-2 team--ain't happening. Texans fans know the Jags are going to be serious competition--doesn't mean they are going to go "oh sure the Jags are better." By the way, the Indy thing is lame--the year before the Texans beat Carolina--did that make them better than everyone but the Patriots?--of course not. How about actually talking football rather than stirring up this woeful smack discussion.

The Colts argument was the same thing as this stupid seeping argument the Texans are using. And my whole thing in the first place wasn't that I was trying to put out that the Jags were better than the Texans, it's that everyone thinks that the Jaguars are not going to improve from last year.

Usually, all teams improve somewhat year to year. How much in relation to other teams is the real question. Jags should improve and so to the Texans. Will we sweep the Jags next season.....less likely than sweeping the Titans and more likely than us sweeping the Colts.

I think the Texans and Jags both have a shot at the division. That's not to say that I'm going to predict 10 or 11 wins for them. However, if you look at the last 5-6 games of the season for Indy, I think teams started to catch up to their offense. In addition, Indy has not added anything in free agency, they've lost in free agency, and they don't pick high in the draft. Furthermore, though not old, they are an aging team who has an all-world QB who will not be able to put up the numbers that he did last year.

Indy has avoided injuries to Peyton but that may change this year now that teams have focused defensive schemes on pressuring him and disrupting the timing. So, here's my prediction:

Indy 10-6
Houston 10-6
Jags 8-8
Titans 6-10

IMO, the most likely senario is that Indy wins the Div. and the Jags & Texans are fighting for #2 at about 9-7 with the Titans in last place. If either the Jags or Texans get to 10-6 they will have a solid shot at Wildcard spot. I see Indy at about 11 wins.
