Slowly coming around...

I only clarify because Schefter has always been pretty responsible as a reporter. He raised questions about the Mario pick, but he never blasted the Texans, as far as I know. Carucci jumped on the "Blast Texans" bandwagon in full stride.

The BIGGEST article of them all is the one Bill Simmons wrote about it, and I believe it was in ESPN The Magazine. Granted, the guy uses humor a lot in his articles, but he blasted us and said all sorts of awful things.

I'll try to get that linked for us.

Also yesterday on Around the Horn Tony gave all the panelists a chance to nationallly apologize to us and Mario about him being the #1 Pick.

Of course none of the panelists did and evidently have their collective heads in the sand when all 4 said we still should've taken Young. Guess none of them have seen his "stellar" play lately or seen his TD-INT ratio this year. They all got muted and he made the apology.

This year should've been the point where people saw RB can't carry the load the same thing quite a few people on this board said before and after the draft. Sure the Decoy/Multi-purpose thing he's supposed to bring to the table is nice but, not at the #2 slot. I'm a UT guy and Vince is my boy and all but...he hasn't made the strides he should have at this point. They've been winning games for the most part but it's taken away that he hasn't played great for the most part. Even forgotten is until Peyton retires the only way you're going to win this division is to get to the QB as much as possible. We made the right decision.

This is pretty telling:

Most of the so-called media 'experts' are just blowhards. If they really had that much insight and ability to evaluate players, they'd be working for an NFL team instead of just talking about one.

Oh you mean like most to all MB posters?

at least someones got the balls to admit when they are wrong

Many of us, including yours truly, were quick to criticize the Texans for making Williams the top overall pick of the 2006 draft. More to the point, we ripped them for not taking Reggie Bush or, at the very least, hometown product Vince Young.

Our collective thought was this: What were they thinking?
....
This year, the tables have turned.
....
For the Texans, choosing Williams over Bush and Young has worked out accordingly ... at least, so far

Mario Williams, DE
Tackles: 46
Sacks: 9½
TD: 1
Fumbles forced: 2

Reggie Bush, RB
Rush yards: 581
Catches: 73
Rec. yards: 417
TD: 4

Vince Young, QB
Passer Rating: 66.9
Yards: 2,032
Rush yards: 343
TD/INT: 7/16

Eh....whatever. Let's see what's up this time next year, or even in 2009 would be more telling. As if it makes any difference.

But I'm glad to see Mario getting his reps. That's a good thing.
