Ryan Clady takes 1st step turning Pro

I had projected him 7th while ESPN thinks 8th surely high enough this becomes a no-brainer. probably "out of reach" for the Texans to secure his services but then you just never know for sure about these things alot can change in four months :)

Hard to say. I have not put out my rankings as of yet (and wont for quite a while) but it depends on who else jumps in and the order of the picks. If the Texans lose out, they could be somewhere between 6-10. If they win a couple they could be around 12-16. It is hard to say what can happen now since there are several games left to be played.

once you submit your name to the advisory board it takes about two weeks, so its now in process :cool:
 
Well the only reason they wouldn't take the guy if he fell that far is if something we don't know a bout is working behind the scenes. Probably be off the board by the time we pick. Posted on the other thread, Oher is considering going back now.
 
Now the Texans need to perpetuate lies about him being a dog fighter so that he will fall to them
 
It will be intersting to see how this LT class grades out. Clady is a talent, very athletic but would need to be coached up in the NFL to start day one @ LT. I think its very smart for him to come out early. Bose State system is not in the Pro Style & he's not learning against quality competition in the WAC. Sam Baker on the other hand is NFL ready coming from a Pro Style offense, starting LT four years @ USC against the best compeition in the country. no matter how talented thats a huge advantage over someone like Clady.

I'd prefer to have someone who could come in straight away and be an improvement over Salaam.

In saying that however Spencer handled himself pretty well as a rookie, even though he wasn't considered 'ready' if I remember correctly.
 
got beat several time against East Carolina's DE's the last week. still good. not as good as Otah though.
 
I have to watch the USC game again. My girlfriend called before she had to go to work and then I fell asleep because I still had this pounding behind my eyes at halftime.

I'm not sure if he was 100% recovered. got beat twice by LB stunts, no big deal otherwise dominated the line. USC rushed for a season high 344 on the ground & 289 in the air.
 
I think Baker solves the LT problem for 10 years. If he works hard in the weight room he could be an all-pro. He wasn't perfect today but I thought he played well enough to justify the 18th pick.
 
The thing that worries me about Clady is Daryn College also out of Boise .

He was a 2nd rd. pick in 2006 who's having a hard time playing guard .
 
In his bowl game it appeared to me that Clady needs to be taught/work on technique. He did not use his hands well, seemed to lack a punch. On a play he was beaten on, had he just put a hand on the guy early he would have had a chance to move the guy. This is coachable.

2nd, he appears to need to hit the weight room. Seemed soft and weak. This can said about 95% of the college OL prospects.

Yes he has quick feet, but he is raw. Very raw. And I do not see him fitting the Chiefs style of offense.

Of the GBN list I would be happy Clady, Baker, Boone, Otah with our 1st rounder. Williams would be worth a 3rd rounder.

Kubiack used the "g" word today. I'm sure if they get a chance at drafting a starter they will body slam the pick. They start talking about grooming a guy behind Salaam, I get ....nervous.

too much is put on what school guys go to (unless its a mami S/ ohio ST cb:pirate: ).. same with colledge-clady: it all depends on the individual

Sadly it will be hard to judge the kid, pancake blocks against small school never will be's does not help me. If the rules changed and the declared juniors could go to the Senior Bowl, then I could get a better idea.

The only thing I will be able to tell is if he is athletic when he he goes to the combine. He could be a find or he could be a Seth Wand. He is big. :devilpig:

Yeah but I doubt he would be a first day pick probably a 4th or 5th round and at that spot he could certainly be worth the gamble. Because even if he is not a LT with all the injuries at RG he could move there.

That's what I'm thinking also. With Weary on the snide....be a nice day two guy to have on the practice squad just in case. He's a "G", groom guy for the guard spots. Make a prety athletic gaurd if he can get into the 5.2's. If you hit the home run and he developes, he's our Tony Ugoh in '09.
