Buchanon a Target

At the rate the Texans are going this year, Buchanon will have a career day.

Signed,

Brandon McDonald

(Rookie 5th rounder from Memphis)

If Ron Dayne is charging in Phyliss' direction with a head full of steam will we see the return of the matador tackle?

Not if we can get Ron Dayne one-on-one with him.

What's Dayne going to do? Eat him?

Dayne sucks as an every down back. If we had a decent RB for the past few weeks he would've easily rushed for over 100 yards with the same amount of carries.

Anywho, Daynes suckatude is worth another thread in it's own.:gun:

McLame was talking this morning on how well Buchanan has improved over the last year.

I still say we throw to his side. Burnt toast all day long if AJ is over there.

Watched P-buc yesterday against NO last night, and OMG they abused him. It did not like like he improved at all, but statistically he might have.

Those two are buddies, so I wouldn't be surprised if they both take it up a notch.

Ok and where did they abuse him? Maybe I missed something. I saw 2 plays, but maybe I missed some more.

He was lined up against Marques Colston for most of the game and Colston beat him on a 40 yard jump ball. You know what Colston's stats were yesterday...2 catches 39yds. Instead of judging a guy for how he performed for a team in the past, judge him on what he's doing now. He may get beat a play or two, but he has been making up for it since he joined the Bucs.

Umm, he's been around 5 ypc the last few games. Not his fault we put ourselves in positions that demand passes. Look at the splits between first half and second half rushing yards/carries.

P-Burnt is the poster child of our 2-14 season. He could cure cancer, attain world peace and end hunger and he would still be hated among these parts. Do yourself a favour and let this one go.

In the system we were running P-Buc was very poor.

System dictates performance more than most account for, it seems that P-Buc has found a better system in Tampa.

And for what its worth AJ could beat anyone out there one on one, truly great WR.

Andre Johnson worries me more than any other player on your roster. I don't think there are many if not any CBs that can cover him man to man. Our safeties will test out his toughness on Sunday. They tend to beat up on receivers early to see what they're made of. Johnson is a beast and I thing he's up for the challenge.

BTW...keep an eye out for our rookie FS Tanard Jackson. He likes to bring a lot of pain on his hits and he is always near the ball.

Ugh. Buchanan was an utter joke during his time here in Houston. I would almost rather have Faggins in the backfield than P-Burnt. I don't think it much matters who is lined up against him, they should have a good day. Unfortunately, our poor defense and inability to play football after the half will probably lose us this football game, regardless of how good a day we have passing.

Check the stats my friend.

TB = 4th in Passing

If your o-line plays like it did Sunday, I don't see Sage having enough time to complete many of these "predicted" big pass plays.

Well, that play, and then the following TD were thrown directly at him. I saw other plays where #31 were not in position.

So in other words, you saw two plays and then he was near some other ones. I know this is the wrong player to defend around here but it seems like when you see him in a game, you're trying to find mistakes.

OK, I watched the entire game, REALLY noticed the horrible plays that lead to the TD AND a few other times where he did not cover that well. I'm real sorry I did not take notes at the time so that I could come here and chew his ass.

Also, if you actually READ my initial post on P-buc, you would realize that I in fact DID defend him somewhat but pointing out that I do NOT know how he has fared in Tampa, but that the game on Sunday, I saw the same stuff as I saw here. Broken coverage and no tackles. I guess Brees saw it too since he threw at him twice in a row and... taadaa.. got a TD out of it.

On those back to back plays I blame him. He was out hustled by Colston and he let Cooper fake him out. Those two plays stick out in my head. What I'm saying is that I don't remember anymore big plays that he gave up. I may be wrongI'll also say this, if you hold a passing offense to 162 passing yards, tou can live wih a few breakdowns in coverage.

This season has been a really good one for P-Buc because Kiffin and and our defensive backs coach know his weaknesses so they do a good job of hiding them. Something I remember about him earlier in his career was how he was playing to get an interception instead of playing to stop his man. The coaching staff in Tampa have really changed his thinking and it's almost like he was made for this system.

OK, you're right. Ron Dayne is the answer to the Houston Texans running game.

P-Buc was playing at a high level earlier this season. The Bucs defense is damned good this year and he is out there every play, so he has to be a part of it.

I am not 100% convinced Sage will have enough time to get it to AJ. A make-shift line usually doesn't equate to many passing chances. In other words, we need to be worried more about the Texans this week than the team on the other side of the ball. If we can't get our stuff together, the bucs won't have to do much to stop us.

I always though P-Buch was always a cover 2 guy who depended on help over the top becasue he liked to roll the dice on trying to pick.

He's gone from here and it's not like him and him alone was fully behind a 2-14 season. Some people get selected out as scapegoats and voila.

Only thing I care about is if it's a favorable matchup for us in the secondary we exploit it without getting away from at least trying to have balance with the running game.

He'll get burned once or twice this weekend. I have seen it happen in Oakland and in Houston.

We'll see what happens Sunday. I get the feeling that if P-Buc plays lights out, people on this board that think like you will blame your receivers instead of giving him any credit.

No, seriously we saw his lousy play here and most people on this board think he sucks. Why do you think I asked twice on this thread if he could tackle?

No, I give credit where credit is due. He reminds me of Jason David and Nick Harper, guy plays well in a cover two but can't do it by himself.

Why does it matter if he does it in any other system? If his team has success and he's a big part of it, it shouldn't matter what he could do in another system. If you want to talk about cover 2 corners, Ronde Barber would be lousy in a man coverage scheme. There are some corners who are great in man coverage but would be terrible in a cover two system. Every corner has a system that they excel in and P-Buc's just happens to be cover 2.

To me, it's not so much his covering ability than his aggressiveness. In other words, it appeared his purse would get in the way of making a tackle for his team.:bat:

Who knows? Maybe he just wasn't happy here in Houston. Glad he's working out for ya.

I understand what you mean about aggresiveness. Our secondary played like wimps last year because it was their first season without Mike Tomlin to leads them. The Bucs organization went out this past off season and hired a guy name Raheem Morris who was Tomlin's assistant. Morris gets in those guys' faces and makes them own their mistakes. He lit a fire under those guys and look how well they've played this year. It's not always the entire coaching staff that has to go, but there are often two or three coaches that must be replaced.

You seem pretty smart, and you are telling me that is doesn't matter what system a player is in? Ask Warren Sapp, or Ray Lewis, if they liked the 3-4 when they had that in Oakland. Lewis is still playing a high level because they drafted Ngata, to plug up the middle and allow Ray to run around. I'm sure you have had plenty of interaction with Saints fans and they have vented their frustration (being nice towards him) towards David. Indy runs the same type of defense that you guys run, and he prospered in that scheme. However, look at how much he and Harper are struggling since they have left. From what I have seen in Oakland and here in Houston, Philip could not be counted on to cover one on one on a consistent basis, and I'm under the impression that he is not being asked to do that. Look out for our TE, as I'm sure the Texans will be playing close attention to Alex Smith.

I hear you are the President of the P-Buc fan club. J/K

I understand that players are better in certain systems. I took your earlier post and you saying his success in Tampa is discredited because of the cover 2 sheme that we run.

I see you've been over the deck. I hope you post some this week. What's your name over there?

I don't really post on other teams boards, except for our division rivals. I usually just go to another teams boards and catch up with what's been happening in their universe and gather their strengths and weaknesses. I don't really like to talk smack with other fans, as it usually ends up going in that direction. I don't imply that you like to as well, but that has been my experience with other boards. (chargers, saints, and especially the falcons.) How do you guys put up with them? I hate to put them the good fans with the ignorant ones, but they have some pretty ignorant fans.

We are nothing like those other boards. If a member doesn't respect their fellow member, they're gone. We have fans from other boards come and hang out during the week of their games and beyond. They like the fact that we don't talk a lot of junk. We like friendly debates so if you're not willing to debate without letting your emotions interfere, it's not the place for you.

Yea, our corners are really good tacklers. Our corners will give you short passes but they won't give you any yards after the catch.
