A&M vs Texas

Now it is on to the basketball game. We are trying to fit dinner in here somewhere, we are celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary tonight. Two Aggie wins would be a great present. I'm pretty happy with the first one.

I can't believe UT didn't show up.....with everything on the line, that's on Mack Brown for not having them ready or hungry enough or something. And we have to loose 2 years in a row :gun:

22 years, wow. Happy Anniversary, GHF! (You can watch this stuff on your anniversary? You da MON!

I was at the game and I must say that it was simply amazing. We squeezed 88,000+ into Kyle tonight, it was a record. The place was loud as hell and even though it was 42 degrees, I wasn't cold at all.

Great game by the Ags offensively. McGee made a few dumb throws, but oh well. They managed to score through the passing game repeatedly, and Texas didn't have an answer for it. It is almost as if they were in denial about how powerful our passing attack was (I sure was).

Defensively I have complaints about the late game. The first half was flawless, except for one huge catch and run by Charles. The later playcalling almost allowed Texas to come back on us. In spite of ourselves, we managed to hold them off.

All in all it was a great game and I expect to see it on ESPN Classic at some point. I knew the Ags had what it took to show up the Horns again. There's a Spirit can ne'er be told....

I da WOMON. I'm the one who told my husband we had to cancel our dinner reservations and stay home tonight to watch the games. How do you think I've stayed happily married for 22 years?

Sorry about that!! Well, the empty side of the glass is a lucky man! How about some rep to you for my embarrassing mistake and as a ridiculously small anniversary present? Good for you guys.

so does this mean that Oklahoma has already clinched a spot in the conference title game?

No, If Oklahoma losses they go into a three way tie with OK ST, and Texas. In that case the team with the highest BCS ranking will go to the Big !2 championship.

They get cocky when they play us, Colt is 0-2 against the Fighting Texas Aggies. Thank god Vince Young is gone.

Gig'em

Texas did not need to win that game.IF Oklahoma wins then they go to the Big 12 championship.IF OU loses then Texas will probably go.Good Game Aggies!I wish you the best of luck on the rest of your games.

P.S.
Why do you hate so much?I love you.:shades:

What's the Big 12's tiebreaker? In the Big 10 it is head to head, followed by overall schedule. If OU loses:
OU 5-3, 9-3
Texas 5-3, 9-3
OSU 5-3, 7-5

In the Big 10 OU would still go because OU won the head to head with Texas?

Really? Cause I thought he left the last two jobs as a classless and hated guy who had overstayed his short welcome.
A lot of Ags, myself included, appreciated that he just bowed out. If he wanted to, Fran could have really messed up our program good with a long, bitter fight/negotiation for his job.

From what I understand, Fran has a pretty good recruiting class this year.

The tie breaker would be whoever has the most BCS points.

speaking for myself, I hope whoever wins can just represent the conference strongly in postseason play.

what a game in College Station yesterday. I sure hope we get to see Mike Goodson play on Sundays in Reliant one day soon.

You said Head-to-head THEN overall record. For OU to go, it would have to be head-to-head (no winner), then overall record (OSU eliminated), then back to head-to-head again. Is that how the Big 10 would do it?

Anyway, from the Oklahoman LINK

With Oklahoma's 34-27 loss Saturday night at Texas Tech, there is a chance for a three-way tie in the final Big 12 South standings.

•If OU, Texas and Oklahoma State all finish 5-3 in conference play, Texas will represent the South in the Big 12 championship game at San Antonio on Dec 1.

.....

If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.

1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other.

2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division.

3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (fourth, fifth and sixth).

4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents.

5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative.

6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative.

7. The representative will be chosen by draw.

Goodson is freakishly FAST.

Good point TD - I'm not sure WHAT would happen in a 3 way tie. I did what I said in reverse - I dropped OSU because of their overall then had OU for beating Texas head to head.

Needless to say, good find on the 3 way tie rules for Big 12!

Who are the Aggies rooting for to go to the Big 12 Championship?
I like both programs so I don't care.

Here's a pretty good article about the names being thrown around for the vacated position.

Franchione's exit cracks door to speculation

I'd like to see a young, hungry coach step in and whip that program into shape so of the names listed, I'd like to see the Boise State coach, Chris Petersen, or West Virginia's, Rich Rodriguez, get the job.

Spurier is a great coach, but he's been to the top of the mountain already and he may not be in a rebuilding mood. Plus Texas is a long way away from Florida.

Tubberville is another Franchoine and Sherman is an NFL coach now.

I dont think it would be hard for him to rebuild, with his name he could bring in some big time recruits.

With the money we will be willing to pay him, with our facilities and the fan base. It will be very interesting to see what happens.

Kyle Field (aka the biggest stadium in TX) + The new Bright Complex and indoor practice field + Texas high school football recruits + 3 million = Hopefully Steve Spurrier.

I would like to see a young, hungry coach also. I've read the rumors that Spurier is the man, but 62 seems a bit old to me to be long term guy. I'd rather bring in some fire to the program. However, the AD office is probably not checking the MB, so I will have to trust that they do the right thing.

Great day to be an Aggie yesterday, sadly that hasn't been the case during the football season often enough the last 5 years.

A good recruiter is a must IMO. I don't think Mack is a great coach, but he recruits extremely well.

Jeff Tedford from Cal has to be a good recruiter with his battles for players against USC.

Dammit...I hate you Mack Brown/Greg Davis. These two are piss poor coaches. The only reason for the success Texas has under them is recruiting. They have enough talent to win 9-10 games every year, but suck at coaching overall. Because of this we are probably stuck with them. Just look at the big games they have won...The Championship game and the Rose Bowl...Vince was the QB. I could have coached a Vince Young led team and won it all.

As far as the tie goes...this article seems to indicate that OU will be the representative, not Texas.

If the Sooners lose, there will be a three-way tie for the Big 12 South lead, and the division representative for the league title game would be determined by which team is higher in the next BCS standings. Oklahoma is already ahead, so it's not likely the Sooners would fall behind the Longhorns.

Huh, that's what CL was saying.

I'd say its up in the air. What's worse for the pollsters; losing to TAMU on the road or OSU at home? Also, if OU loses to OSU, that would most likely help Texas with the computers.

At any rate, it would be fun to see the Mack Brown lobbying campaign back in full swing.

Just a hunch, but I don't see any way in hell Spurrier leaves the SEC. He seems VERY driven to prove a point at South Carolina and he's getting close to doing it.

I can't believe UT didn't show up.....with everything on the line, that's on Mack Brown for not having them ready or hungry enough or something. And we have to loose 2 years in a row :gun:

On the first series, they gave up a third and twenty...third and twenty. Good Greif. You can't defend twenty yards...your DBs suck. Mack Brown has nothing to do with the DBs sucking. They ran out the best five or six they had and it wan't good enough this year. Conidering the tallent I thought Mack did a prety decent job with this group getting them to nine wins.

Well kudos to you Aggies. Two in a row that's not a fluke. Well done. So are we going to see a bunch of 38-30 plates this off season ? Or no need to beg for mercy, we got plenty of bandages.

My opinion...UT was young and did get to get 9 wins this year BUT

Mack Brown has to be one of the worst big game coaches alive. In non-VY years he has 2-3 games a year where they are unprepared and uninspired. He gets outcoached. Heck in VY years it happened but VY bailed them out. It was his knock pre-VY and it has been the same thing post-VY. Its not like this hasn't happened when they were stacked with talent also. You have 2 weeks vs an A&M team whose offense is pedestrian and you turn McGee into Harrell and you didn't realize that a lame duck coach was going to throw the kitchen sink at you. It isn't like this is the first time. More like the 20th. Talent alone gets them their 9-11 a year but the ones they lose are unexplainable sometimes.

Huh, that's what CL was saying.

I just don't understand this knee jerk stuff. They Lost Sweed, the OLT and the starting center. Replacing a couple of high draft picks in the secondary at the very start of the season...I mean I get it. Db's and linebackers didn't progress like their press said they should of progressed. A & M just exposed the warts that have been killing them all season is what I saw. Mack Brown is ranked in the top five or six as far as winning seasons among active coaches go. Mack Brown isn't going anywhere. The aggies get to dance on us this off season. Take it like a man. They for sure earned it.

I knew this was going to be a tough year for UT after what happened in the offseason and early season. You add in all the seniors they've lost, then the injuries, and it's just been a hard year for them. But they found a way to knock out 9 wins, and for that I'm happy. Watching the Texans play makes me glad for the Horns. I think they will be much better next year.

I don't think UT is even considering against Mack yet. He's been real good for them.

HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!

And congrats, Aggies. That was a good game. I would have preferred a different outcome, but you got the win.

As a big UT fans, I want to congratulate the Aggies on a big win, and thank them for whipping the horns. I am really getting tired of see the uninspired football the horns are playing lately. Saying that it was still a great win for the Aggies.

Also, since I am lazy and don't want to look it up, is Coach Fran going to coach the bowl game?
