White Elephant?

Yankee_In_TX

Dance Lindsay!
I will not be at the Denver game (boo!) plus a lot of people are rolling in late because of work.

So..... Anyone in favor or or against doing it at the Jax game? I am sure we can find the time in between painting ourselves red? Only 5 days after Chirstmas? ;-)

whats a white elephant?

White elephant is at our christmas tailgate whenever that is. Very few (under 10) ever participate so I am not suprised that it is foriegn words to yall. Buy a gift, under $25 and wrap it. come to the tailgate, draw a number and when it is your turn go pick a gift. you can exchange with another person who has already picked something or go pick a new one. gifts can be exchanged twice before being frozen.

Some where there's pictures to disprove that! I remember about 15-20 last year. it took forever and I was getting annoyed because I had to go propose :)

I would say it was about 10 and it was awesome but it would be more awesome with a bigger turnout. We traditionally started this in a hotel saturdaynight before the christmas game. This is a definite Blue Crew tradition. I do believe the beautiful present Kimberly so proudly displayed to the parking lot for many games to come was a perfect specimen.

OK, so we are officially holding off on the White Elephant thingie until the last game of the season (when we play the Jacksonville Jaguars), is that correct?

If this is confirmed, I will post it on my site to help get the word out

No re-gifting. Being after Christmas, I just felt that HAD to be said.

Anytime you guys need a Joe Texan translator, just let me know.

Never heard of 're-gifting' before.... :hmmm:

Ted, most of us need to keep you on retainer for the translations... :whip:

Hey I thought that regifting 2wice was the rule but you know the texans are going to skin the cat

Translation.....

Hey, I thought the rule in the White Elephant was that a gift could be taken twice before it is "off limits" and no longer available.

By Golly, the Texans will surely beat those pesky Jacksonville Jaguars.

Got it... and as usual, thanks!!!

Joe, I was speaking of gifts being regifted for the White Elephant. In other words, if Bill gets something he doesn't want for Christmas from his great aunte Gert, he should not bring that mega bag of tube socks to our White Elephant as his gift.

You were correct. In the White Elephant a gift may only be taken twice before it is retired and considered off limits.

So now your also translating ted for Joe, i am getting confused!
Besides Confusious say" boy who ball in strawberry patch get in big jam"!

Traditionally, a white elephant gift exchange is "re-gifted" gifts. You bring something clever or unique that you already own as a gift that someone else should want. Just wanted to throw that out there, but I won't be participating, so call it as you want. :fans:

We do this at work, in fact ours was Friday.
Since most of us exchange liquid refreshment as our gift, re gifting is usually not a problem, unless you were the guy who got the 40 of Old English...:woot2

Not I, as I brought home a nice bottle of DiSarrano but still bit miffed I got the Crown and the Stoli stolen from me on the second pick. No worries since I really don't drink (normally), I am re gifting it into a child's stocking...over 21 of course. :) That is GOOD re gifting.
The guy who got the Grey Goose I brought was quite happy when he got the final steal on it.

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun gtexan!! All ya gotta do is bring a gift for the exchange. We'll all look forward to meeting you!!

infact GTexan you can be the White Elephant Guest of honor, We would love to have you participate, A gift, not regifted at a cost of $20 rapped with out a name, Liquor usually goes first then cool stuff and if you bomb, (Get a set of matching candles) then your good luck next year. It is definitely great fun
