Mario standing up on line vs 3 point stance

I would love to see Mario play standing up on the line more. He seems so much faster when he does. By the time the lineman gets out of his down stance Mario has a step on them.

There does seem to be a difference when he rushes in from a standing position. Kubiak mentioned a couple of weeks ago that they would have him do that more. It gave him better vision when he was rushing.

Yup, and he looks best off the left side.
I made a point of specifically watching Mario today and I'd have to agree with this statement 100%.

Mario's sack was from this side and he put an amazing move that just left the Saint's RT totally flat footed about 5 yards behind the play.

I'm wondering why they don't move Mario over?

Didn't he play LE last year, with Weaver on the right? Don't know what happen but, all I know is that signing Weaver was a mistake. If the coach was going to take a RE in the draft then you shouldn't have sign another RE to starter's money.

simple answer: anthony weaver.. a FA mistake if we're being honest

IMO, Mario would be on the LDE if Weaver wasn't here. However, when we do move Mario to LDE we will still need a RDE as Weaver can't fill that role. In retrospect getting Weaver in FA was a mistake, but at the time we didn't know we would be drafting Mario and Weaver was/is a very solid end (probably more suited to a 3-4 I think) and was a good quality player pick up at the time. Now we are burdend with a player that isn't a great fit for the scheme and because of the high dollar contact we have to have him on the field, but is still a quality player which in turn keeps the best player on the D-line playing in a position that isn't the best use of his talents because Weaver isn't able to move. What we then have are two players that are only partialy used the best way they could be with no near term opportunity to change the situation. Kind of sucks and inpacts how good the D-line could be.

I would love to see him play LDE. That seems to be were he plays best. He is not a speed rusher, he is a bull.

Mario plays RDE in most "rushing situations" with Weaver at LDE. When it is a passing situation they generally move Mario to LDE and put in Kalu at RDE. Personally I'd like to see alot less Weaver out there with Mario and more Mario and Cochrane on the field together.
