Young, Veteran Leadership!

Rookie
We have drafted a nice core group of players! Had it been in the "pre-free agency era, we may have the opp to become a dynasty. Unfortunately, some will stay and some will go. That being the case, that also means we have to get some from other teams. Charles Woodson is a free agent this season, heard he lives and trains in H-Town, and Phillip Bucannon is a restricted free agent. Both(one or the other) are worth bringing in to add physical toughness to the secondary, and to sure up lock down cornerbacks for the future. In our conference, being able to cover is a must and speed, along with being physical, is a plus. The cap goes up this season, so give either a large signing bonus, stretch the contract. Glenn goes to nickle (getting older), and draft Rolle for a safety position. We'll be young, good, and have leadership for the next 4-5 years! Something this team has failed to have over the first 3 years. Let me re-phrase that, Leadership, toughness, & ATTITUDE!!! :howdy:

phillup buchanon maybe, i dont think i would want woodson.. getting older... if buchannon is somehow not resigned by the Raiders and is a Texan, then he would be the nickelback, glenn is to good to put at a nickel, maybe in a couple yars, but glenn can still play.. i dont think buchanon would be interested in playing nickel... and neither would woodson

or just don't know football. There is not way Bucannon would not beat out Glenn for the #2 corner spot. AG is alot older, value is low on the market, and may take the bump down to stay near hometown!! Bucannon has proven he is a #1 corner, but he's not, nor is anyone, invading Mr. Robinson's neighborhood! :howdy:

im pretty sure i know enough, that the Texans wont even go after either of them... its well known that our organization wants to build from youth, but take vets only where we need them... and we dont need to bring in another corner... not now anyways... and glenn is probably the biggest leader of that defense, capers knows it, and will want him there... i think glenn will play the 1 next year, with dunta at 2... then in 06... its dunta at 1 glenn at 2... i give glenn 2 years as a starter and at most 4-5 years playing in nickel and dime situations...to prove a point... http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/playerrankings/regularseason/DB

DRob is 5, glenn 38... buchanon doesnt rank in till 88.. so ill take glenn

yeah i doubt glenn even plays that long, i predict after about 2 more years he will retire, unless he's one of those guys trying to stay around and hope he can get him that big SB ring !

is buchanon even a free agent?!?!?! im looking at another page, at the free agent list, and he isnt on there... i think you just want a raider to play for the texans... which wont do any good, cuz last time i checked, there corners didnt do much to stop us... (living in the bay area, one of the few Texans games i actually got to see)... the raiders have to many problems... next youll want to fire Capers for Norv Turner, cuz thats brilliant... then trade Carr for 3rd string QB Tuiasisopo (SP?)

hmmm who ya talking to there man ? Me or pitbull cause i have said nothing about wanting any raiders players, i hate the raiders. Ok ur prolly not even refering to me hmmmm i am majorly confused :hmmm: Ok i'll shut up.

to pitt... i hate the raiders myself... a niner fan til i heard about the houston expansion franchise that was gonna be coming to the NFL... never could stand the raiders... smart move by me tho.. hate to be a fan of the niners right now

Please, not Buchanon. He would get torched everytime we play the Colts. I'd rather have Faggins in as a starter than what I hear about Buchanon, aka "P Burnt".

yeah i can imagine they arent to tickled about this off season or even about next season. Depressing times man, how times change,,,,49ers and Dolphins 2 of the greatest franshises in NFL history and they were both fighting for the #1 pick in the draft this year ! It's A Funny thing man

Before you sling things like that around you might at least have your own facts straight. Buchanon is not any kind of free agent--he just completed the 3rd year of a 5 year contract. If he was a RFA, the Texans would have to give up a 1st round draft pick for him if Oakland tendered him even a mid-level offer, so there goes your Rolle theory--might as well keep the #13 and get a top CB (CB, so someone other than Rolle) in this draft. And while he might be the better long term player than Glenn (and by that I mean in 4-5 years, not over his entire career), Glenn is still the better CB at this point.

I dont know what alot of you are talking about, I d like to have buchanan or Woodson, but since Buch isnt a FA I would love to have Woodson, he is only 28 and has at least 5 or 6 more good seasons in him, and I dont think that AG would have a wiith moving to the nickel spot, he is a team player and leader and that status would not be affected if a younger player with basically just as much talen came in to houston.

Its all about the $$$. Why would you bring in such a player who would want the $$$ just to play him in the nickel? Makes no since to me. WE WILL NOT got after a cornerback in FA.

i think we draft a high corner maybe next year, we wont be selecting a CB with the first pick, its not a necessity... and if we were to look in a later round, this draft isnt deep enough to find a talented corner in later rounds

Kid you got it wrong, buffsoldier and pitt want to bring in an overrated, not as talented CB in Woodson... and have Glenn play the nickel, but it wont happen

First of all, Buchanon is not a FA, but wants a new contract and word is the Raiders are looking to shop, if someone is willing to give up something. He's going to demand a high contract when up for RFA or UFA. They would rather get something for him now, as they know when Woodson is gone, he's the top CB. Second, As for AG, love the guy, but is getting a little older. Leader, yes, on and off the field, but I'm talking about a fiery emotional leader! This team has no one fiery, with the exception of Robinson's attitude(love it) and Peek, who only seems to see the field in 3rd down situations! This team needs toughness and attitude to go along with all the young talent. Third, Don't let Casserly's words full you, if he gets a chance at someone who is in the peak of their career to come in and help this team in the 4th of a 5 year building process, he'll pull the trigger! PRessure is on this team to win. Colts are getting older, Titans are down and injury plagued, and the Jags will always be an engima. McNair doesn't pay $700 million for a 7 year buildling process. Would have worked in the PRE-FA era, but those young guys we have will come up for FA too! Woodson for a decent price or Buchanon for a pick or two, the guy will make the move! Fourth, never been on the "fire Caper's" bandwagon. Makes some questionable calls and needs to allow Palmer to open up the offense, but in terms of running a team, is one of the best in the business. The players respect him, but he is going to lose respect fast if he doesn't start using the talent and "marque" players. Think Burress is angry in Pittsburgh for not getting the ball enough, watch "Dre Day" explode if he doesn't get the opportunity to be placed in the leagues elite! Nice guy and quiet, but wants to be the best also! Fifth, I Love CARR. He is going to be the QB we all want him to be, once they allow him to be the "gunslinger" we all want to see! This Dink and Dunk offense is not suiting this guy well, and his progress is always haulted, which haults the offense. When the coaching staff decides to pay extra attention to running the ball so much, the team loses momentum and becomes predictable. The offensive personel is built on speed and three receiver sets, instead we chose to utilize "I-formations" and Johnson as a decoy! I apologize for striking your football knowledge, but maybe we're both wrong in judging! Here, TRUE TEXAN FAN FOR LIFE! :howdy:

By the way, I hate the Raiders only second to one team................THE COWGIRLS!!! But a player is a player! Julius Jones anybody? :howdy:

hmm good break down pittbull, i jsy dont agree with airing it out the whole game, i mean capers is the coach and he likes to have a running team, now AJ will get his catches and still be an elite reciever, and Davis will still get his carries. I think this team does a good job at balancing the run and the pass, and if not for our D we coulda won alot more games, the offense (not offinsive line) did there job and gave us the chance to win every game we played. So now with an improved pass rush we should get more pressure on QBs and that often times turns into turnovers.

Pass rush has got to get alot better. We may be better off going in the market and offering Casey Hampton the world to come back home! One thing we have to remember in the 3-4, Nose tackle is the key. Has to be able to take on 2 blockers, big enough not to be moved, and agile enough to make tackles. Now, even though he was injured, he's the best in the game for that scheme. Payne is a good one, but get the elite if you can! :howdy:

Casey Hampton isn't a free agent this year.

pitt get your facts right before you go out saying who you want to bring in... im tired of it... the raiders are not going to shop buchanon... period, what Al Davis wants, he finds a way to get, he wont be letting buchanon go, and right now, he isnt good enough to start over drob or glenn, so whats the point of paying someone 30 mil +... so they can only play nickel packages for the next 2 years, pointless

I apologize, I am mistaken. My Pittsburgh insider was giving me faulty information. Hampton is a restricted FA next season, but Kendrell Bell is available. Bell would be a great run stopping LB, but is horrible against the pass and injury prone. If the Texans think Peek cannot drop back into coverage, he's alot worse. He'll make Peek and Babin look like Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson. BUT the size on the guy. Talked to him once at the club, his peck hit me, before his hand shook mine!
