"Mario Williams to blame ? Gimme a break."

Mario Williams was the #1 player on Bill Parcells' 2006 Draft Board and I'm quite sure that if he was on the Cowboys' board he was on others. But when the Texans take him they all say that Mario is an automatic bust and that he won't ever live up to his draft status. But it was almost asured that Mario would have went to New Orleans with the 2nd pick. So how does being the #2 pick differ from the #1 pick? I mean really? It seems like when Mario was **
"Reggie Bush also gets a pass becuase some how he isn't a prototype NFL RB. He's considered a hybrid, not a RB, a hybrid. Gimme a break. Have you ever heard of anything more pathetic. People know he can never carry the work load so they make an excuse for him and call him a hybrid. Adrian Peterson is a playmaker, but he's a RB first. Bush gets a pass because people know he isn't a pure RB, but they make excuses for his size, strength and ability to carry the load. What a bunch of BLEEP . I wouldn't take him over Peterson and I wouldn't even take him over Darren McFadden, but some how the Texans were completely retarded by not taking him.

Texans in a bye week, and its Mario/Texans vs. Bush/Saints next Sunday in Reliant. Then maybe time for another thread on the subject that never stops giving from Fox Sports ?

Next week looks a little different now, doesn't it? The Rams kicked their arses today.

I took alot of grief for saying to take mario. Da Brick may have been the way to go in hindsight, but I ain't gonna cry.

Let's not compare him to Reggie or Vince. Let's just say that he's underperformed at this time for an overall #1 pick. But he's young and he's got time to improve.

The problem with that is the other players we might have selected #1 have also underperformed, and that needs to be taken into acount.

Bush had another awesome day for the Saints: 7 carries produced 17 yards
rushing for an average of 2.4 yards per rush. This guy sure is truly a formidable running back, one for the ages no doubt.

So is impossible-to-spell-mandu.

I really hope that Mario Williams gets to lay one really good tackle on Reggie Bush. Seeing that would make my day, even if we lose. Despite a lot of contrary belief, neither Reggie Bush or Vince Young (especially not Vince Young) have performed at Christ-like levels either. Mario Williams is a solid defensive end, and I hope to see him shove that fact down the throat of the Reggie Bush Manlove Club next week.

Nice post except for one thing; you didn't say what Mario was "to blame" FOR.

I find it quite interesting that no one is all over the Raiders for picking Russell since he hasn't taken a single snap - they're 2-5, don't you think its about time? ...and no one is all over the Browns for wasting picks to grab Brady Quinn when they had a quality QB on their roster already. They could have used those picks to improve their sorry defense.

I also find it amazing that people are labelling Mario a bust when, from a production standpoint, Vince and Reggie are busts in the textbook sense of the word. Of course, VinceLovers will point to the fact that he STOLE (oh, did I say that out loud?); I mean, he w.... wo... wo... (I can't bring myself to say it) Vince was given the offensive RotY award last year. But real fans know that Joseph Addai, Lawrence Maroney, or Maurice Jones-Drew should have won it. And those same 3 rookie RBs had far better years than Reggie Bush did last year.

But at least Reggie seems to be learning his position. I don't see any improvement in VY's play. If anything, he's regressed.

Now... can we let this topic die.

We need to figure out what to do if the worse happens and Dunta is lost for good.

Amen.

Few more things to add.

Bush and Vince Young are somehow much better than their numbers indicate because "they force the defense to account for them on every play" and are such greate leaders. Meanwhile, Mario production is downplayed, saying that he gets lucky sacks and a lucky FR.

I also find it quite interesting that NO and TN have built their systems around their superstars. We are just figuring out how to do this with Mario as opposed to forcing him into accomdating for our additional problems. (such as playing him at DT LY).

The Browns are benefiting from having a brand new rookie LT that is playing out of his mind. Joe Thomas is making everybody look better. Anderson is getting plenty of time to throw to a really good wideout (Edwards) or TE (Winslow). I think Charlie Frye just really is a terrible QB.

What, I take a week from this board to find a Mario topic!?!?!

What a great day from Bush and Vince also. Those guys are ballers and I can't figure out why the Texans passed on them for this Mario loser.

Hilarious, thats some funny stuff if you actually read all the posts and then yours its just funny, good one dawg.

I'd rather have Mario Williams than Bush or Young. When someone calls Mario a bust, they immediately label themselves as a sort of "knee-jerker". You know, the kind that buys all the water and toilet paper from HEB at the first forecast of heavy rain. It's usually proportional to their football intelligence, to say the least.

Except for Payton saying they were going to draft AJ Hawk until Bush fell to them.

About right about now I suspect Payton wished he would have taken Hawk instead of Bush, who had another pathetic Sunday this time against the Rams with 17 yards on 7 carries.
And to add insult to injury yesterday Antonio Pittman, who now plays for the Rams but was drafted by the Saints in the 4th round this year but then cut,
broke off a 43 yard run which is about twice as long as Bushs longest rush from scrimmage in the NFL which was 22 yards.

It doesn't matter what the texans do...the NFL and most sportscasters are anti Houston texans. I am convinced of that....

I don't know why so many people in Houston are labeling Williams a bust or a mistake. He's had 25 games in the NFL. He's 22 years old. To give a fair assessment, I think you need to wait three or four years to before you can even start to give someone that label. If he's in his mid to late 20s and has been in the league 4-5 years and still not showing much, then fans can label him what they want. However, seems to me he's having just as good a year (if not better) than Young or Bush. So, if people want to label MW a bust, then VY and RB deserve the same treatment. Just my opinion.

None of the Three From Last Year are playing up to their draft spot. Mario gets his load of s*it from Houston fans because he's here. If we had Bush running for 30 yards a game, we'd be cursing him right now and wishing we had Mario or Young. And if we had Young, we'd be watching his crap and wishing we had Bush or Mario. Although, given the circustances, we'd probably be a lot more tolerant of Young than we have been of Mario or would have been with Bush.

Hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good internet rumor. It's people like you that take all the fun out of urban legends.

That's right!
We all know anything you see on the web is gospel.
Just wait until I get my check from Bill Gates for forwarding all those names
you'll see!

Super Mario, the Texans single season sack leader!:texflag:

Yeah, and in his second year too. He's a total bust, lets ship him off to canada and never hear from him again. He's like, not even as good as D'brickshaw Ferguson guys, he's obvious crap.

And all that other nonsense that you might hear from people that work for the Chronicle or surf on this board.

You guys know he's second in the AFC for sacks at the DE position, behind Jared Allen. The other AFC guys are LBs getting sacks.

Mario has stepped his game up this season, especially the 2nd half of the season. Just too bad it seems everything else has crumbled around him this season.

i hate that smarmy bastard.
