Give an 09 first round pick for D Hall if the Texans are unable to sign a FA CB?

Yes, its about time we got a guy who has low character issues. It can only help this soft team we have now.

D. Hall is a good corner. I wouldn't go as far as calling him a cancer. In the right situation any player flourish (Cris Carter, Randy Moss, etc...). If we were a player away from being a good solid team I would do it. We however are not.

Honestly, having seen my team play the guy twice a year for the last few seasons, I think the guy is ridiculously overrated.

Not even taking into account whether or not you like Hall's personality, he really does give up big play after big play because he likes to gamble for the flashy INT. Sure, once every so often that gamble pays off and he makes a great play on the ball, but the last several games we've played against him, we've beaten him for about 4 touchdowns. And it's not just us.

I don't deny the talet the guy has, and he's a hell of a threat with the ball in his hands, but I just wouldn't want him constantly getting toasted in my defensive backfield because he just wants the pick every here and there to show up in the stat sheet.

Well.... Just a thought. I haven't seen him play a ton as I have little to no interest in the Falcons. He is supposed to a be a number one corner, but if he is limited in coverage ability then he wouldn't help. Again just a thought. Depending on D Robs injury our secondary could be in serious trouble... this sucks....Fing injuries!

This team just needs to take another high draft pick, use it wisely (and not on the freaking D-line!), and get everybody healthy for next year. Eventually, we might have one year without a waterfall of injuries. I won't even ask what the status is on Spencer right now. I'm just assuming he'll back (at 60%) for next preseason.

Not a first round, but I would give up a second day pick and hide in the contract that they also get Ron Dayne.

I don't understand some people who are against DHall. I guess if you don't like hard nose CB's that makes plays on the ball, has attitude and the ability to back it up, I can see why you would not to like him. If that is the case the flower shop girl who has a sweet smile will be more than happy to play CB for the Texans.

DHall has not said anything about his coach or his team that is not true. DHall is an unselfish player that wants to win and is a fiery competitor. I would love to have this man on my team, more so than Samuel. DHall has played at an elevated level since coming into the league in 04 where as Samuel just recently got good over the couple of few years.

We better hope the Texans do something B/C I seriously doubt DRob will play next year. DRob does not have just one, but two major tears in his knee. This is another Charles Spencer situation.

So take your pick, Faggins or DHall.

On second thought, with how the Texans draft in the first round, yes I would give up the 09 pick. It would only be worth a 26-27 pick anyway.

Hall is not a "hard nose cb that makes plays on the ball". He is a loudmouth who gets burned fairly often for being a supposed "shutdown corner". He commits ***** penalties for running his mouth and DPI a lot. He does get a pick here and there, but in all honesty, I'd rather the Texans groom somebody from the draft, rather than give up a draft pick that is way too high (because ATL will try to get all they can for him). If we're talking second day pick, I wouldn't mind trying him on for a bit. But definitley not either of our first day picks.

Sorry but Hall is exactly the selfish kind of player that lets a coverage get blown because he wanted to make an attempt at a fancy play. He is an "I" player, because it's always about what he is doing. When he talks to the media, or whatnot. Did you read about Daunta Robinson throwing his teammates or his coaches under the bus in the media when the Texans were the laughing stock of the league? No. And I don't want some jackass in the locker room talking about how bad some players might be, when he himself has been burned quite a bit over the season. Pass.

I'll take Asante Samuels/Aquib Talib/Mike Jenkins/Reggie Smith thank you. And really, I'd like to have one of the players that are in the draft over Samuels anyway.

Andre Johnson, Daunta Robinson, Amobi Okoye, Mario Williams, and Travis Johnson.

vs

Leon Hall, Jonathan Joseph, David Pollack, Chris Perry, Carson Palmer, Levi Jones.

That's one comparison vs another team and their firsts for the past 6 years. Hmmmmmm

Just cause you didn't like the Williams pick (which is what I am assuming you don't like) doesn't mean that the Texans can't spot talent in the first round. I don't know if our 2009 pick will be in the high twenties. Lets hope so.

You will probably be able to get Pac for cheaper then that. He may be just as big a liability but his skills are much better then Hall's.

You never ever spend your future move up ammo for a quick fix. And the reason why is it always leads to a disater. Yes we have a hole a CB. The season is probably down the toliet. What if there is the next Dieon Sander sitting on the board in '09 and you watch the Falcons walk off with him with that pick ? I mean we'd be stuck with a malcontent and they'd have the Dieon Sanders guy. Hasn't Washington been doing this for years ? and when was the last time they went to a conference championhip ? And lastly how many thrity year old all pro CBs do we have out there right now in the league ? Are you going to pay this guy top five money on his new deal ? There is a reason why they fly up the draft board in march. Everybody has to have one. And guys who have the tallent to play there are rare. I don't think with his production and his age he is worth the '09 pick where ever we're picking.

That two we spent for MS is going to really sting this draft.

But that would mean we would have to deal with Satans dad and ummm hell no. Could just wait for the titans to release him but I would bet they wont.

Atlanta has agreed to return our 2nd and we will allow Schaub to play every 4th game for Atlanta and Sage will start every other game for the Falcons. This will give Sage more experience and keep Schaub quick on his feet. Both teams have promised to draft a LT in the first round to protect "our" QBs.

No way, if you are willing to use a first rounder on a CB...why not get one of these guys this year? There are some good CBs coming out this year.

I would welcome Hall to our team, it would be good to have a player of his passion and intensity on our team. However, I wouldn't be willing to give up our first round draft pick for him. I heard he was going to be an FA this off-season, is that true?

Not just no, but HELL no
Fred Bennett is coming along just fine, thank you.

Now if the Jags were to offer up Reggie Nelson.... we'd have to think about that

No way, I would make that trade either. The only safety I would do that for is Sean Taylor.

I wouldn't mind trading our 09 1st rounder for someone else's 08 1st rounder that is later on (say, Dallas/GB/Pitt, etc).
This draft is so deep it's not even funny. :lightning:

Fred Bennett is coming around nicely and I agree. However from what I have read we are looking at a nine month rehab on DRob's knee, so that puts his target date of return beginning of August. At that point he has missed all of OTA's, two a day's, and the majority of camp. No way is DRob ready to go at the beginning of next season. I would also prepare yourself to have him taking the Spencer route, starting the year on the PUP list then IR'd.

Then you have to ask yourself two questions.

The first being am I willing to go into next season with my number one and number two CB's young and inexperienced to defend against the NFC North, AFC South, and AFC North.

The second question is DHall or Faggins?

Have you seen Faggins the last, oh, I don't know... 185 seemingly undefended receivers? :bat:

So its DHall then.....

what about reed

Demps and Reed formed a pretty solid safety Duo in Baltimore, of course this doesn't help out our CB situation. Maybe with that much punch in at the safety we could give Faggins a helper.

The correct question would be DHall or Faggins + first round pick.

I would be willing to give up a number 1 in trade for Hall and a no. 2 pick.

WELCOME with open arms D. Hall just think though Hall and DR of course when he's back. I brought this trade or something up when we played them back in the day, don't feel like finding the thread so Hall .....Welcome....what do ya say Smith?!:texflag:

no way..I wouldn't give up anything higher than a 3rd for him....and why not wait until next year until he is unrestricted? I like Fred to much right now to even think about Hall.

B/C more than likely DRob will not be back in time for next year. DHall has already expressed his displeasure in Atlanta and he wants out after this year.

So you look at going into next year with our options at CB being, Faggins, Flether, Wynn, Von Hutchins and a rookie CB.

But why not just draft a corner? D. Hall is good and I respect his game, but what's the point in trading for him if we can get a corner in the draft? Then we can pay him a more reasonable amount, start from scratch with him, and hopefully he can become a franchise type player, much like Dunta.

My guess is that the difference in money between Hall and a 1st round CB would be pretty significant.

B/C I don't like the idea of going into next season with Bennett, who will have a half a years worth of playing time and a green CB playing opposite of him.

I believe LT or RB should be our #1 priority. Salaam is not going to last another season, he is already being held together with duct tape and barb wire.

I would rather draft a RB than sign a FA and we only have two first day picks.

Don't get me wrong, I like Samuel but after they go 16-0 he would be a fool to leave the team.

But I also like Hall b/c he gives us something in the kicking game, which we need so he actually fills two positions of need.
