KU destroys Nebraska

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=273072305

Todd Reesing threw a school-record six touchdown passes and Kansas clobbered Nebraska 76-39 on Saturday. The Jayhawks kept themselves in the national championship picture while rolling up the most points ever scored against the hapless Huskers in their 117-year football history.

So...how much longer do the Huskers stay with their awesome coach? Personally, I want him to stay forever after we beat them like that.

that was awesome to watch KU win like that. impressive team. now ranked 4th in the BCS. they basically control their destiny to play in the national title game.

Yeah, I was rooting for KU vs BC title game. KU basicly has a game vs. Mizzu left, and they are ranked #6, after that, it would be the Big 12 championship vs OU. So if KU was able to beat both Mizzu and somehow beat OU, they would more than deserve to be in the National title game. I wouldn't mind an Oregon vs KU game either. I just don't want Ohio St or LSU to be in the title game, especially Ohio St.

i don't see how they're not the best team.

They were a much better team last year. They lost a Heisman winner, and a few more key pieces. They are a solid team, but not #1 in the nation. Oregon should be #1 honestly. LSU should be #2. KU should be #3. OSU should be #4.

nah, OSU's defense blows last year's unit away. the running game is much better this year. QB play is as solid as ever, nothing spectacular. i take this year's team over last year's. oh, and this year's team over any other team this year.

The Jayhawks have an incredible history in basketball and many might know this, but KU has also been historically a Track & Field powerhouse.
But football, not nearly as much though they had some good teams way, way back there (anybody remember a QB for the Chargers named John Hadl ? he played at KU).

Yeah, if possible, our track team is actually more storied than our basketball team. Our football team has had some good teams way back. We also did give the NFL Gale Sayers. We haven't been relevant in college football since 1995-early 1996 honestly.

Jim Ryan - pretty fare to midland miler.
Gale Sayers - yea he was a descent running back.
And then in basketball - tall, skinny guy from PA - Wilt the Stilt.
I dunno, but I'd say they've had some pretty dang good jocks at Lawrence
thru the years.

Poor Diapher.

Wasn't Nebraska ranked in the top ten this season at the start? Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Poor Diapher is right...

May Fran and Beau Bridges.................errrrrrr Bill be happy in the unemployment line!!

At the game, we (the KU students) started a chant saying "don't fire Bill, don't fire Bill."

Also, #70 Slauson became our personal target when on the sidelines.

And when Ganz started self destructing in the second half, after each int he would throw, we would chant "You let the whole team down".

I love college football. KU for #1!!!

Yea, now that is classy :ok:

YOUNGTexanFan you had a great and demoralizing win over Nebraska Saturday. It takes a rare and special “talent” to pollute a 40-50 year old tradition of winning like most teams have done the past few years to the Huskers. I would like you to read this paragraph very closely by Jason King a Yahoo Sports writer on October 19, 2007 so you can see why I have a problem with your actions in the stands that made you feel so giddy and elated with your football experience.

"Nebraska football fans are in my opinion some of footballs greatest fans. I can remember watching one of Nebraska’s rare losses and seeing Nebraska fans actually standing to cheer a good play by the other team. Nope this wasn’t a jab at their team it was just gracious football fans recognizing a great play."

Diapher, I have friends in Omaha whom I talk to all the time. I know your pain. Nebraska faithful have always been class acts.

I have gone to the little league world series a few years back. have yet to goto a game, was hoping I could this year but things have not worked out like I have wanted.

It will get better, just do not let those that heckle get you down.

Nebraska Football = Winning tradition
Jayhawk Football = backseat to their basketball program..

Yeah, I think Kansas could win 10 national champions in football all back-to-back and they still wouldn't be as popular as their basketball team

Dude, relax. We do it to every team we play. Before say our 6th win in a row, football was just an excuse to drink for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is a true story, as I have gone quite a few saturdays without any actual food. Kansas Football is still a joke as a whole, so honestly, we are just riding this drunken wagon as long as it last hoping for a playoff system and waiting for basketball.

OSU has a real solid squad. I'm just still not sold on them being #1 simply because they haven't lost this year. I think there's some better 1 loss teams.

while that could be argued, OSU deserves the shot at the title more than any 1-loss team if they go undefeated.

Why? Who would they have beaten? They will have beaten nobody worth mentioning. Penn St. and Wisconsion are their best wins, and its not like they went through a schedule like LSU or Oregon. And yes, I have a double standard for KU and I am biased, but they will also have beaten COL the week after they beat OU, K-State the week after they beat UT, and aTm as well...all of thsoe games were on the road might I add.

because they're undefeated in a BCS conference and there's no playoff, making the regular season an unofficial playoff, meaning they've earned the right to play for the title.

KU is undefeated as well, and from a BCS conference, and if both teams run the table, KU will have had a harder schedule. It's not like KU's defense is bad at all either. They held aTm's rushing attack to under 70 yards total...they had been averaging over 230 a game I think.

i'm not denying KU, i think if they're both undefeated the title game should be OSU/KU. i'm saying a one-loss team shouldn't get in over them.

Begrudingly I'll agree with the point. The Big 10 really has had an off year and that's not OSU's fault.

While I'm not a big LSU fan by any means I'm just wondering if they win out does playing a brutal schedule in the SEC and triple overtime loss at then top ten ranked Kentucky keep them out of a title shot as opposed to OSU not really blowing anyone out of the water but still winning games.

If and BIG IF KU manages to beat Mizzou and get past Oklahoma in the BIG XII title game.....agreed they have more then earned their shot. I'm just really glad the BIG XII is playing a lot better this year overall.

look at the games though, OSU hasn't really played close to anyone. Michigan State got close at the end, but that was sort of incidental. they've beaten everyone soundly.

btw, i don't like OSU and even if i didn't think they were the best team in the country, i firmly believe that the most deserving teams should get the nod to the title game. if KU and OSU goes undefeated, they deserve it more than a 1-loss LSU. period.

Okay.

So what if Hawaii goes undefeated?

Do they get to go to the NC? Or even a BCS bowl?

Hawaii hasn't even played a team with a winning record this year. and they're not in a BCS conference. and they're not really blowing anyone out. hardly a comparison.

that being said, there's plenty of teams playing similiarly crappy schedules and yet aren't undefeated, or even close to being undefeated, so if they make it to a BCS game, it wouldn't be a huge crime. they still have to beat Fresno State and Boise State.
