Where will the Texans end up picking?

Currently the Texans have the 9th worst record in the NFL, come the season end what pick will the Texans have?

I figure that we will slip a few spots (or is that improve) and end up about 7th. There a lot of bad teams in the NFL at the moment.

Well, if that happens, then Atlanta will have 2 picks in the Top 10 of the 2nd Round of next year's Draft. If they choose wisely then they should be able to turn their team around very quickly.

you'd think :bunpan: they would trade both 2nd rd. picks to get Matt Schaub back in Atlanta :throwball:

The one that is absolutely sick is NE at 5. They are looking at a super bowl run and could be picking in the top 5?! WOW.
I'll laugh if they trade it to Dallas for both of their 1st rounders just so they can have 2 again & piss off Goodell.

For kicks and grins would you or anyone care to project what the teams ahead of us might need? I realize it is early yet I would like some hope somewhere.
let's see....

1. St. Louis - Orlando Pace probably won't stick around much longer. Is Bulger the long-term solution? Who will be coaching this team next year? Secondary is a need too, but they won't go there this high.
2. Miami - Everywhere on defense. Specifically DT, OLB, and the entire secondary. TE is a big need, but again, no one here worthy of such a pick.
3. NY Jets - They need help on the d-line, and who knows what's going on with the QB situation. And Thomas Jones won't be around forever.
4. Atlanta - QB is the absolute biggest need here. Safety has been a big need for several years.
5. New England - Really is no real need here, so I expect NE to go pure BPA. And if McFadden is there....well, that's just no fair.
6. Cincinnati - Linebacker (any position) and the secondary. Just anyone on defense.
7. Oakland - Has been needing O-line bad since before the Robert Gallery pick. Should go tackle again.
8. Minnesota - Tavaris Jackson appears to be...not the real deal. WR is a hole. Secondary needs work.

NE is best situated in the league to go pure BPA, but unless Maroney gets injured again, this seems unlikely. He has been very effective.

I will not be happy if we pick another defensive lineman. I do not understand why Kubes is sticking with Faggins over Bennett. I think Petey is doing his best and Kubes is the coach, but..

That's what I'm afraid of...If Calais Cambell or Chris Long fall to us...they may be the BPA...wouldn't that be funny.

i have a feeling those two may be 'rated' higher than Jonathan Stewart or Kenny Phillips or Ryan Clady....if that's the case..what happens...

Looking at the schedule, I don't see us winning more than 2 more games...so that makes us 5-11. Last year the 5-11 teams picked 5th and 6th respectively.

Yeah, it looks like the Raiders and Saints are the only games left the Texans will be able to have a chance to compete. But considering the Saints are starting to play better, it might be that this Sunday's game against the Raiders will be the last chance the Texans have this season to get a "W"

A 4-12 finish should put us at 4 or 5.

Do you folks realize we are at the midway point of the season and we are already talking about the draft for next year? The off-season has officially begun. God, it's going to be a long one.

Yeah but if we end up in the 4-6 area we'll have a legit shot at McFadden, and that would be very, very nice and ease the length of the offseason.

But then again McFadden could be on the board and the team goes another direction...or the ever wished for trade dwon happens.

The Raiders are the #3 team in least amount of passing yardage given up in the NFL. They have a hell of a pass defense. The Raiders also have the #6 rushing offense in the NFL and we haven't been able to stop anyone on the ground lately. soooooo, um....yeah. :gun:

The Raiders game is huge for us. If we lose, I dunno how bad the rest of the season could be, but it could be a disastor. If we win, and I think its winnable even for even us right now, we go into the bye week feeling real good about things and come out with an upbeat attitute for the NOLA game at home.

*The game against Oakland doesn't look like a good matchup, their run defense is poor but pass defense superb.
*New Orleanse-Reggie Bush excels in the dump off passes and we've been giving up huge games due to that, our OLB's aren't fast enough.
*Jacksonville, Tennessee, Indianapolis are all playing pretty solid if not great.
*Cleveland is a new(different) team that has improved more than we have and are putting up a lot of points.
*Broncos aren't doing as well as I thought they would but are still a pretty good team that has less holes than we do.
*Tampa bay- What looked like an easy win once may not be...their at .500 now and will be looking for a win against us.

I see us as being underdogs in every single game left...unless Schaub comes back 100% and Andre Johnson comes back 100%. It doesn't mean we won't win any more..it will just be more or less an upset if we win, which should be attainable. the more I look at our team and our schedule I see a top ten pick..again.

the fact that we are talking 2008 Draft in October is reason enough to fire Kubiak's sorry care bear arse. When he used 'exceptional' to describe Mario's play on Sunday, I wanted to personally shake him like a child and slap him silly. i am sick of this low expectation morale victory loser.

Say this happens, would we go for McFadden or would Dallas be open to a trade for it's two firsts?

I think alot of that is going to depends on wht happens in free agency...I would hope we would grab McFadden, but this team still needs so much that passing on 2 firsts would be very hard to do (unless Cleveland finsihes better the .500 then I would think that there would have to be another draft pick coming to us in that deal).

Yea thats a great idea! Let's fire Kubiak because its his fault he was given a crap team to rebuild. Let's get a new head coach who wants to build this team the right way and not make quick fixes...so that one day we will be a great team. Now he won't get us to the playoffs in a year so let's just go ahead and fire him too. I fully expect this team to be turned around by the end of the season and be better than the patriots...it shouldn't have to take time to build a team into a championship calibre team....I fully expect a bunch of 20-26 year olds to dominate probowlers that have been in this league for 8+ years. Kubiak sure is crap but why not pass the rest of the blame on Mario Williams too? :listening

I would love to trade down with Dallas and get (most likely) a pick around 16 and another around 30. We would still be looking/hoping for a player like Jonathan Stewart for RB, Ryan Clady for LT, Reggie Smith for FS, a # of good cb's, or even some good OLB's like Dan Connor. Then with Dallas actual pick we could look at another position be that a player like Ray Rice, DB....or we could even retrade one of the 1st round picks. I would have a field day.

Ryan Clady + Ray Rice would help this team out more than only Darren McFadden, imo.

Geez I hate being scared to bring up anything VY related, but anyway. Take out last week's miserable result of 42 passing yards and the Raiders drop down to 12th on yardage passing. They are good, but they ain't #3 good.

seems to me that the 3rd least amount of yards given up = #3

Anyways.... the Pats definitely are sitting pretty right now. Who did they get that pick from again?

I believe it is San Francisco's when they traded up to get Joe Staley...can't remember if it was NE's 1st or 2nd 1st rd pick of '07...but regardless.. NE now has SF's for 2008.

other notable 1st rders are: Dallas owns Clevelands (Quinn) and San Francisco owns Indianapolis (Ugoh in 2nd rd). Not sure if there are any other 1st round picks...

You understood what I meant--take out last week which was by anyone's admission an aberration and they weren't close to #3.

But heck look at all the games:

Detroit 243 yds avg, 289 v. Oakland
Denver 230 yds avg, 269 v. Oakland
Cleveland 238 yds avg, 248 v. Oakland
Miami 208 yds avg, 154 v. Oakland--with 412 yds rushing between the two teams
San Diego 197 yds avg, 156 v. Oakland--with LT rushing for 198 yds
KC 211 yds avg, 177 v. Oakland
Titans 156 yds avg, 42 v. Oakland--with TN rushing for 181 yds

Their below avg passing games come in rushing fests.

Someone mentioned recently on some thread that Clady's lower body strength is a concern. Could you or someone go into that? I can't find anything on his weaknesses. He does have the size and could be a good lower pick.

Kubiack didn't pick these o-lineman. Didn't pick the circumstances he found himself in when he got here. Further it takes, and many of us told you this, at least three drafts to make a major switch from the 3-4 to the 4-3. They used bailing wire and duck tape to put a credible team on the feild opening day. And it worked for two games. But you take any NFL's team major star away from them after two games, and you're going to get simular results. Kubiack didn't just lose the teams star he lost his starting center and RB also. I think this coach has a very fine offensive mind. I think if we fired him at this point it would be equivalant to the Brownies firing The Wolf in New England when he was HC there. We'll get to watch this coach giving his super bowl speach in someone elses locker room and wondering how we could of been so stupid. The jury is still out but give the guy his three years befor you run the guy out of his home town on a rail. He didn't put us in cap hell. But I believe he will dig us out. Up to each of us to figgure out how deep that hole was when he began to dig ?

Strange Teams giving away such high picks on two OLT canidates and One QB. Well maybe not so strange.
Ya know that makes twice now that the 9ers have bitten the OLT apple. Make the arguement that they Missed on Quam Harris, therfore they are stupid to do it again. Or...we've never done it. So which team has(had) the better shot of keeping the QB alive this season? At least they're takikng a shots. While the only shots the Texans are currently taking is at the QB slot. Kinda strange huh ?
