What is up with his playcalling? 3rd and 4 and he has the DB 8 yards deep. Time and time again we have seen this. It isn't the DB's picking that kind of drop. That is incompetent. I don't care how nice a guy he is or how much the DB's may like him. He has to do a better job with his schemes. That kind of thing is on the coach.

ive said before that hes a great character coach but hes not a good coach... i wouldnt mind seeing him replaced in the offseason

I have asked a number of DBs about him. I have never heard them saying anything particularly nice about him or that the players like playing for him. The most common words used about him are "crazy."

this has nothing to do with john hoke but when are they gonna put michael boulware in the starting line up... we traded a good pass rusher for him and hes playing special teams.. just put him out there... probably a better tackler then von hutchins

If we're not going to use Boulware as safety, we might as well try him out at OLB. Greenwood play like crap today, all the swing pass to MJD were to his side. It was like we didn't even have a ROLB on the field today.

Good being a relative term (Good pass rusher) - Yeah he should be on the field or someone should say like the rest of our Safties,he's having problems understanding the coverages.

Are we talking about the same Boulware that came in and got lit up over and over again in nickel coverages? He's too small to be an every down linebacker unless you are running a tamp2/cover3 defense. He doesn't shed blocks well and he just doesn't have the size to take on guards at the second level for an entire game as a starting linebacker in a conventional scheme.

how is he a good pass rusher? He does have a brother that was a stud pass rusher in the NFL though.

so put him at safety in some other then goal line situations... hes a good player.. showed that when he was a rookie in seattle... so put him out there already.. pretty sure he'll do better then von

we have...and he got lit up over and over....our current S tandem has done a better job than he did when he played....perhaps he'll improve down the road and will play more.

That was a very frustrating play, I remember yelling at the TV "GET UP ON THEM - "

My dog ususally has to go in for therapy after football games. The mood swings can be tormenting to say the least and since she reading my energy and thinks its her fault - well you get the picture.

How do you think the players ment it?? Crazy like a fox? Crazy psycho?

OK, before I leave and go eat with the family....I agree with the soft coverage on down and distances such as you speak of...don't know why we don't press more. We can't be so afraid of getting beat deep that we let teams dominate the tempo and control the game by taking easy pitch and catches...especially in light of our below average pass rushers. We must mix it up more and I'm not sure why we aren't. I can't remember the last time I saw Dunta blitz off the edge....perhaps it was during the Capers era (turn on your sarcasm detectors please).

I agree completely. However, that penalty on third down was a killer. I thought d had played well becuase of it.

(vinny or infantry or any mod that could help. I was told all my posts were gone off the other site and that my profile is gone.. did I get kicked off or something)

I have asked various secondary players what they think of Jon Hoke. I do that with a lot of players, ask them about their position coaches and what they think of him. I haven't spoken to guys about all aspects of the assistant coaches however--some assistant coaches are no longer with the team.

Hoke is an interesting character because back on the old board, there were a contigent of fans that loved Hoke because he yelled at his players. And I wondered why.

I didn't think much of him based on what I saw on the field and what his background was. But I've tried to have an open mind, and a lot of times you can learn more about a coach by listening to what the players say about him.

Usually, if a player likes their coach a lot, you can't get them to shut up about how awesome he is. They will go on and on about how awesome they are, and how they help etc. Kubiak, the TE coach, the QB coach, the ST coach, the linebacker coach (and probably a few others who I am not thinking about right now) are coaches that the players rave about.

When you ask about Hoke, they don't say much. Sometimes they will volunteer that he is crazy, that he likes to intimidate players and see how they react. That he gets really nervous on game day. You don't get much of that love of coach that some of the other coaches get.

Of course, a coach doesn't have be beloved to get results, but usually when a player talks about how helpful their coach is, that coach is doing some things well in a way that shows on the field.

I have also seen Hoke give a talk at a clinic and have to admit to being non-whelmed. He certainly has enthusiasm for his job however.

Thats probably more do to Mario then Morlon. Usually its up to the D-line to sniff out screens, but Mario is not the most heady guy out there so he just keeps trying to penetrate.

No Morlon is just bad.

Our LB's have trouble defending the pass, blitzing and making plays in the run game.

Greenwood is robo-linebacker...He's so into his assignment that he forgets he's actually a football player....Good at making plays that come right at him...Not so good going at actually going to go make plays...

Clark isn't anything special either...I hate that Anderson got beat out, because I think he brings more play-making potential...But oh well...

I was disappointed we activated Wynn instead of Orr. I'd rather see JJ or Davis on kick off returns if it meant Orr was activated. I think he would contribute on pass rush and special teams more than Wynn could contribute.

The trade for Boulware looks worse every week.

The db's playing 10 yards deep when the offense only needs 5 yards for a first is doen right stupid.

Kubiak calling 4 wide with no rb on 3rd and goal is stupid. He needs to hand the play calling over to Sherman.

We gave this game to the Jags. When Davis didn't score it became the turning point of the game. 4 times in the red zone and only 6 points is a killer.

Schaub missed guys that were wide open and it cost us dearly. He will get better but it is painful to lose to the Jags that imho are not anything more than average. In the nfl if you let a team hang around long enough they will beat you especially on the road.
