Post Game Thoughts?

I exhaled when Brown hit the game-winner after I waited to make sure there wasn't any penalties. Schaub didn't have his best performance but was clutch when he needed to be. Wasn't his best performance but I would rather have him leading the Texans down the field with the game on the line than the previous QB that we had.

Salaam and Pitts disappointed me today. That being said you have to give credit to Jason Taylor. The man had a great game.

Lemon came in and did a nice job but thanks for the INT to start the 2nd half.

Ronnie Brown is as good as advertised.

3-0 all time versus the Dolphins, I love it!!!!!!!!!

I should have added Kris Brown instead of Josh Brown on my FFL.:gun:

We're 3-2 and going to Jacksonville(3-1) in a big AFC South Showdown and hopefully we get all of playmakers back next week.

:texflag:

I expect more from the defense. Today they did have Brown to contend with, and he is a monster, so his yards were expected.

I do think though, if we had all our weapons on offense, it wouldn't have been so close.

They played against two teams today...the Dolphins and themselves. There were a lot of costly penalties that could have changed the outcome of this game, but overall, I think we got lucky. No doubt, Kris Brown is the MVP today providing 15pts. alone off of FGs. The offense can sustain drives but it's the penalties and turnovers that hurts them the most. Special teams and 2nd half defense won this game today.

Dear lord do we need Green back! Our running game is awful! And that's being nice.

Matt had a decent game. Came up with big plays when needed.

Penalties KILLED us... Not sure all of them were legit, but we had 3 plays of 30 yards or more (I think) that got called back because of penalties.

Defense played decent. Going up against a RB with two straight 200+ games is tough. And thankfully we finally learned that when the Phins had third and ong they were going to throw a screen.

Kris Brown is the man! nuff said.

This is what I was thinking after the game:

I'm tired of hearing other Texans fans talk about others "eating crow," and the ubiquitous "Can you believe that?" threads when the Texans aren't ranked as high in power rankings as some homers would like.

Fact is, respect is not given or bought, but earned. We damn near got rolled for the second the time in three weeks by teams that are expected to be the dregs of the NFL. It's laughable that unnamed individuals continue to clamor for respectability and "run" in the media when we have yet to deserve it. What have the Texans done so far that is profound or noteworthy... Have a record which approaches mediocrity?

Today, we were lucky and that's about it.

I think the last drive was executed pretty badly clock-wise. They let the play clock run before actually throwing the ball on the 2nd down. It was like they were giving up. There was also the play where they didn't know whether to call time-out or spike it that caused the clock to run.

Besides that, the running game is god-awful still. I don't count on Ahman Green either. We have to find someone who can run the damn football and it's not Dayne or Gado.

You do realize we have been playing without our playmakers on offense?
Green,Johnson, and JJ. That's a fact.

We have the best record at this point in the season in franchise history with todays win. Teams that are good get lucky.

You believe in luck? I sure as hell dont.

I said during the game "If we lose this game you can consider me giving up for the season on this team and looking towards the draft." my friend goes "Don't say that you'll jinx us?" I don't think I did. I don't think any thing I do affects the team like how some people might wear a lucky hat or something.

I don't think our win was luck though, Kris hit those FGs, we got in position, we made the stops we needed. Not to mention our playmakers are out IMO there is no way I walk away from this game disappointed in anything. A win is a win no matter how you win it.

Schaub did not have a great day but I give him a pass for the game winning drive. YKW could not have accomplished this win. It's pretty obvious that the offense is really missing Green, Johnson, Jacoby, and McKinney.

The receivers have done a great job which just shows that we have real depth at that position. At running back....not so much.

Kubiak is constantly preaching no turnovers and playing mistake free. For some reason, this team has not gotten the message. I couldn't believe all the penalties and especially the holding calls. And Travis Johnson called for taunting over Green????? Unbelieveable.

What I'm mostly curious about is where is the defense that played Carolina and held pretty tuff against the Colts? The last two games we haven't looked very sharp and gave up a lot of 3rd and long plays. Some sloppy tackling and not much pressure on a 2nd string QB.

Anyhoo, they found a way to win and while it ain't pretty, it sure beats the alternative......

There's a measure of luck in all facets of life, why should football be any different? Someone has to win the lotto, and I don't think it has much to do with one quick-pick patron being more skillful than the next.

You don't believe we were lucky to play a team that hasn't won a game as of yet when we did? Anyone else and it's likely we lose handily.

Yes, I'm aware our playmakers are out as well. Only solidifies what I'm trying to say.

Best record? At least you manage your expectations. Besides, that's not my hang up.

A few things...

1. Running game has got to get better, Green or no Green.

2. Playcalling in the red zone still questionable, if not downright bad.

3. I think Bennett has earned more playing time, if not a start.

4. Travis Johnson is not a bad guy. He got caught up in the moment, and was mad about the block to the knees. I'm sure he feels bad about his actions knowing Trent Green suffered a concussion.

5. Schaub showed me a lot today.

6. The way the Texans played, they were lucky the Dolphins were in town.

Dude! They won, it doesn't matter. The last drive is what won the game.

I was disappointed in the running game, middle of the offensive line, and the refs.

It took Ron "phantom injury" dayne 4 plays to get 4 yards. I'm not sure if its all his fault or the fact that he tried to run up the middle and there was nothing there. Gado looked slightly better running but seemed to gain same amount of yards dayne did. I think we need more of a RUNNING back in the back field and not a full back.
I've never seen so many BS calls by refs since last game. I am starting to wonder if someone on the Texans was talking about their mothers or something.

Kris Brown rocks is my first thought.

We escaped today with a win, barely. I don't believe much in whining, but I felt we had to beat not only the Dolphins today - but also the refs. From where I was sitting it seemed like the refs must of had some money on the game. The taunting was wrong - but where was the call for the clip? I didn't get to see it over and over so maybe it wasn't as bad as it looked from the stands. But would someone who watched on TV please let me know if the refs missed a call there and also what the report on Green is.

Going into the game I said the defense really needed to step up and play with intensity today. We had some great stuff, but let too many big plays go by.

Still, it is a win and we really needed this one.

Yes - The Houston Texans have never been 3-2...

Right, so I guess the Texans should be on the front pages of ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and any other sports publication.

A torrential shower of praise should rain down from sportswriters far and wide, because at long last, the Texans are 3-2!

1. Totally agree.

2. Why not give a shuffle pass on 3rd and 16 lol,

3. Faggins played way better than Bennett today. I was shocked to see it being him making the plays.

4. I kinda thought the same thing or that he may have been pointing at him as being the one that chop blocked him.

5. Schaub shows something every game it seems.

6. Coulda been ATL

Although Faggins did not play bad today, you could argue who played better...Bennet should get his chance. He ALMOST(I use that word carefully as I hate to use it) picked it off once and I don't remember many WRs catching on him today.

Faggins redeemed himself a bit today but I think Bennet hsould get more PT because he was balling today, he wasn't a liability out there and proved IMO that he's ready to get more snaps.

Considering he has an image of VY's head in his avatar he might be more of a VY fan than a Texans fan. There are quite a few of them on here.

Well that GIF shows how VY throws like Uncle Rico.

LOL nothing is wrong with us being 3-2...dude its a start.

While we are 3-2 there's teams that are 0-5 and 1-4. Whose to say we don't go on a 3-4 game winning streak when Andre and Green comes back? I'll gladly take 3-2. I think the Chargers would rather be 3-2, the Bears, and other teams would rather be 3-2.

Yes we blew a good win last sunday, but that's in the past now. We've won 3 and lost 2 and we need to move on from there.

1-10-MIA 36 (11:45) 17-C.Lemon pass deep right to 19-T.Ginn pushed ob at HOU 28 for 36 yards (34-V.Hutchins).

Bennet blew the coverage on this play (i think this was the correct play). He wasn't within 20 yards of the play. He also got beat but made a great play tipping the ball. The coaches didn't totally expose him, he had help over the top on almost every play I noticed. That is completely different than the way they were playing Faggins early in the year. Faggins has been asked to play on an island a lot this year when he has been in there.

He definitely played like a rookie today, but that is what you expect until he gets more pt.

My thoughts:

1. Our running game sucks without Ahman Green. It's like a rehash of last year when we had Wali Lundy as our starter. Sometimes Dayne plays like a sissy in a big man's body.

2. Our pass coverage was better. Faggins didn't have a terrible game and he almost had an interception which he might have been able to return for a TD. Of course, Cleo Lemon isn't very good so that may have a little to do with it.

3. Andre Davis is going to be our #2 WR when AJ gets back. He's played very well. Kevin Walter has also played well the last two weeks. Our passing game is pretty good as it is with two of our biggest weapons gone (AJ and Green who is very good at catching passes out of the backfield). I can't wait to see what it's like when they get back.

4. My adopted Texan is awesome. He still needs his first TD catch though!

4. Kris Brown better be special teams player of the week.

Well if you stop being a smart ass for a second you'd know that more national sports casters have been saying some pretty good things about the Texans... even after this ugly win...

Things that went well
Attitude. There was not any “quit” in the team.
Special teams. Wynn was great returning kickoffs. Kris Brown continues to impress. The man has ice water in his veins.
Play calling. First things first: we took it straight to the rookie CB Worrell.

Things that did not go well.
Penalties. The holding penalties were especially frustrating. I expected them to occur on Salaam, as he fought JT, but strangely, 2 of the holding calls were on Pitts. Holding kills drives. It is probably no coincidence that the Texans only finished 1 drive (ie., TD). This simply cannot abide.
Run defense. I have not reviewed the tape, but I seem to recall a couple of situations where folks were standing flat-footed as they assumed Ronnie B was going to be tackled, and lo and behold, Ronnie breaks free for 20. I saw exceptional effort on every play from 4 players: Mario, Ryans, Hutchins, and Okoye. If the ball carrier is not gnawing on turf, then stick your hat on the ball and wrap up. Dammit.

That’s all I really have time for. Gotta go tend to the family.

I liked the way Wynn returned kicks too. He got us good field position. I just can't see him returning a kick all the way though. I don't know if he has the speed or quickness to return one for a TD. That's just my opinion though. He is very good at getting us to about the 30-35 yard line and putting the offense in a nice position to start off a series.

That's right genius. But that's what I'm getting at--there are too many dolts who continue to rant and rave about why we don't get more pub.

Judging a book by its cover... My avatar certainly is indicative of what I'm about. Nevermind the season tickets, I attend virtually every tailgate, etc....

My next favorite ***** is idiots who think that any disparaging word said about the Texans makes you less of a fan.

All I was saying is that was taken from the GIF.....

Nice language, why hostile after a Win, guy?

:fans:

1. We need a LT. Salaam was severly overmatched today and looked like a slow old man. Can Studdard play LG and Pitts LT?

2. Without McKinney our running game sucks. Try Chris White at Center. Can't do worse than Flanagan

3. We need a new DC. Too much talent in the Texans front 7 to play like they are. Promote Frank Bush to the DC position and make Richard Smith a position coach
