Working?
I say ENJOY the win streak!! :texflag:

I may not be the best fan, I may have complained every time the team did something I didn't agree with, I may have threated to walk out many times.
Heck, I think I even started a thread way back in the day where I wanted to send an angry petition to the owners saying I was fed up with Texans football.

But you know what? All that heartache, all that suffering, makes this winning streak (we are at 4 now, (knock on wood!!)), even more enjoyable!

Its so funny (and slightly annoying) when some of my relatives who have dogged the Texans over the years, claimed they'd never go to a texans game, have actually laughed at me for wearing my jersey, are NOW pretending to be life long fans :)

Oh well, I know I have sat through the 4th quarter of some horrible, horrible, heart aching losses (remember that StL game? I was there!). And that makes the Carolina win all the more enjoyable!

I can't even imagine how much better it must for the fans that have NEVER thought of giving up. You are the guys who really impress me! I started watching this team in 2003. I missed the first year. The people who have been here the whole time, I hope you guys are living the high life today!

Congrats lifelong Texans fans, this is the reason we've been fans this long. May the good times roll!

Straight up!! :texflag:

I've worn my Texans hardhat to every game since 19-10, and have never thought of giving up or not wearing it. We did pick up a tradition to kick the hardhats in front of Reliant when they lose, but 2-14 will do that to a fanatic. We need to blow off steam and let it go when we lose.

But no more kicking the hardhats this year! We've got a team that wants to win and is quickly learning how to do it consistently. Our time has finally come!

If you're a Texans fan after the first five seasons, then you are a fan regardless of things said in the past. All that matters is that you bleed battle red now!! :fans:

2-14 will bring out the worst in everyone Im afraid. But lets look on the bright side, we couldn't be where we are now without going through that first. And look how loyal our fan base has remained!!

Winning cures everything!

Good post gtexan.

I have been a fan since it was announced that we would get an expansion team in 1999. After failing 5 years it will make the coming year(s), that more special.

TEXAN PRIDE!

:fans:

Agreed, kudos to all y'all long-suffering die-hards!

For my part, I've been a Texans fan from the beginning...but it's hard to get really into the Texans mojo when you're away at college. Needless to say, I'm back in H-Town and ready for some Mo-******* FOOTBALL!

As far as this weekend, Peyton.....meet our front seven: :bat:

I thought the team site was full of newbies, how many are hopping on here?
I dont know what to do. I preach that i hate frontrunners, but I cant seem to crack on those new to the wagon. I am so used to being alone here in San Antoio. Then I met V-man, texizgreat, elle, uvalde and treygar this year. and all you guys from this site I have talked with the last couple of years. I am having trouble with those who are just now finding their way here. Houstontexans.com has always been there, then when it was redone our profiles were resurected here. Its great to have people jumping on when the Texans win.... Isnt it?

I spent years here in SA being ridiculed for wearing a Texans jersey. In best buy, I had people walking up to me in groups laughing at me when we passed on reggie. The worst was a 7 year old boy telling me my team was stupid.

I guess I want to say... WHERE THE HECK WERE YOU PEOPLE!!!! Is that wrong?

I'd never done the forum thing before, but somehow wandered onto the Dynamo forum last year. Decided to find one for my Texans...

I've been a fan since '02, watched them beat the cows in our first game of existance, and suffered through the last few years (i shouldnt say suffered, it has actually been more fun than winning.)

Going to school in lubbock means I have to put up with a huge number of Dallas fans giving me crap all through last year and the begining of this one. it'll be a beautiful thing when we beat them in the super bowl.

Over at the official forums before HT.com was overhauled. That forum's history was transferred to TexansTalk. Most of these folks are old-timers. :cowboy1:
Some of us chose new user ids and have been around longer than this site indicates. There is nothing wrong with honest evaluation. Nothing says you have to run off a cliff are put up with sloppy play to be a fan. I will not put up with slop from professionals (see Astros last 3 seasons first half). For me Ws are great but how you get there is more interesting.

I hope TT keeps this board cause it's one I've grown to like over the past few years. I don't understand the concept of overhauling everything each year like they do at the official site ... it gets annoying.

Been rooting for Houston football since the Luv Ya Blue days. I have been behind the Texans ever since they came into existence. I wish I had join this forum from the beginning....

It is so nice to see all of us happy instead of criticizing this team. Kubiak and company have come in, got rid of the CCC crap (Carr, Capers, and Casserly), and finally put this team in the right direction.

I'm very proud to be a Houston Texans fan (even if I'm in Cowgirls territory)....

While I may be new to these boards compared to a lot of you guys, I have been a fan since they announced the name, colors and the white helmet. I have watched every single game, except the one on NFL network.

It just took a while for this computer illiterate gramma to find you.

Welcome and check out the devotional section down below. Look forward to your input.

been here since our biggest win was against L.A., #32 "houston" jerseys all around! (i have two!) i've had faith in mcnair more than anything despite the woes and sorrows and complaints (which obviously there have been many, and i've voiced my fair share). i wanted kubiak in the beginning. many wanted peppers in 02. this is HOUSTON football, and i dont for one second think that the oilers have fielded a team comperable to the 2007 texans. what's exciting is that even if we ONLY go 8-8, we're a baby faced team with an outstanding coach, fantastic depth, tons of cap room, and plenty of room for growth. our 2007 season, as good as it appears to be, should be our worst season in the next half decade.

i've been part of the texans' forum since there's been one and i for one cant thank vinny, khari, tex, and the crew for making this the best football discussion board in the NFL (if i remember right, this is the 3rd version of the official forum ... and combined with TT's core of diehards we became the best). this year is fun in my new house because we have a "man" room with a 6ft/4ft texans bull painted on one wall that we've turned into a tailgating room in anticipation for this season.

bandwagon, vets, oilers, babies, old-timers, and everyone in-between ... this is YOUR Houston Texans and we plan on making every game a home field advantage even if we have to yell loud enough for seattle to hear us.

Have you been to a watch party in Dallas? Check out the Tailgate area if not. </ thread hijack>

Been here since the beginning, went to every home game since inception and with my relo to northern Texas this year - my stadium / tailgating streak has ended. Luckily, I found some fellow fans in the land of the silver and blue. I was worried during the move I may have to follow the 'boys more since I wasn't sure if I'd be able to see the Texans games as much - but I realized my Battle Red still bled strong when I saw the two Texas teams square off during this preseason.

Preach on brother! I've always been the optimistic fan, some have said to a fault. I've supported every player, defended them when they needed running out of town, etc. I'm a fan of the Texans, and every player, and could care less to read a posting that is negative about any of them. But I've learned to be a bit more open minded. Alot of the folks here are more knowledgeable about the sport than myself, so when you see that person that has been dead on in what they've said before, you gotta pay attention when they notice something that your homerism won't allow you too. But, I'll take my homerism any day, I've not put myself through the mental torture of some of my fellow Texans fans. When they've been committed to a mental institution for blowing a circuit, I'll still be supporting the team, sending them Happy Meals, cause I still like'em...irregardless of their glass half empty mentality :)

This is my fourth year with season tickets. Those have been some hard years (2-14) and the passing on VY, Cutler, & Leinart with a continued commitment to Carr made me want to puke and I cam very close to dumping the tickets and swearing off of the team. The worst was seeing Carr continue to perform poorly and seeing Mario struggle last year.

It's almost like the beautiful morning after the storm. There seems to be some progress to reward our faith and suffering. There are a ton of folks who want to be Texans fans, but they need some success to be hooked.

After the win in Carolina, the mailman was proudly sporting his Texans hat. In other areas Texans decals are popping up on cars. And the local sports bars were just as full at noon for the Texans game as they were at 3:00 for the Cowboys game. In this West Texas town, that says a ton.

This game against the Colts will be one of the biggest in franchise history. As Mack Brown says: "The more you win, the bigger the games get". Let's hope they keep getting bigger from here on out.

Go Texans

I have had several of my friends, co-workers, and acquaintances ask about my tickets since the Cowboys game - everything from freebie requests to polite requests to buy tickets at higher value. My response to every one of them has been, "Where were you for 2-14?", followed closely by, "Where were you during the Pittsburgh game, when I was the only fan in my section still seated by halftime?". "Where were you when I was touting Mario as a better draft pick than VY or Bush?"

I'll let the bandwagoners back on, but not at the expense of missing games. :bat:

Amen!

Honestly, being 2-0 has not really sunk in yet. I don't know that it will until I show up to the stadium on Sunday and see the crowd in a frenzy unseen since 19 - 10!

Let's enjoy this start and be thankful we finally have the management, coaches and players in place to turn this thing around.

you loking good there gramma. :doot:

I remember how excited I was when they announced we would have a football team again.

Unfortunately, having gone off to school in North 'Missippi' during our 1st season and those thereafter, I wasn't able to watch a lot of games on TV. I do remember my GF at the time, and I, sat and watched the Dallas/Texans game on espn? in the dorm room. She didn't get espn so we had to watch in between the fuzzy lines and couldn't hardly hear anything over the static. Amazing...watching a football game like that! LOL

I will say, I caught every game I could and would come back home to always watch the Indy/Ten/Jax games when they were wover Xmas break. And I will admit I didn't become a "Die Hard" fan untill the 2-14 season ironically.

I think with the whole Bush/Young/Williams debate made me love the Texans even more. I wasn't in the Mario group untill I read the Michael Smith article a week before the draft and was like "Oh crap. we're not going to pick Bush. He is absolutely right. We need mario more." So I prepared myself those few days untill the announcement before the draft and tried my hardest to break it in to friends up at school so I wouldn't be ridiculed as hard. But that didn't happen. I heard it all last season as everyone else did...but funny enough, it made me love the Texans that much more.

There were def. those times when I caught myself saying Man Vince is exciting or Gosh Bush would have been awesome...but always defending the Mario pick...I never gave up. It looks like the 2-3 year time period is true about DL. Babin was really starting to shine while switching to DE, TJ has really stepped it up...and Mario is only going to get better. I have HIGH hopes for this DL in 3 years when Amobi is a 3year vet at age 23, Mario, TJ..etc.....wow we'll be stellar.

To make a LOONG story short. My favorite part of being a texan fan over the year was wearing my Battle Red Mario Williams Jersey out to the Bars the night(s) the Saints played in the playoffs. Oxford was literally covered with Deuce, Brees, and Bush jersey's that night of the NFC championship game. And I stuck out like a sore thumb... and that let everyone know I was a real fan.

I've been a fan since before we had a single player, so this is a very gratifying time for me. It seems like I have paid my dues and can now reap the rewards. It's so easy to bandwagon, but the emotional payoff is not the same. The honey tastes so much sweeter if you have been fed a steady diet of gruel for five years.

It's kinda funny. I walk into work this morning, and a couple of different people greet me with How bout them Texans. One lady said she went out yesterday looking for a jersey, and that her husband watched his first football game in years, and didn't even know what a challenge flag was. But, there they were, out shopping for jerseys. She also said "one of our receivers, I forget his name, got hurt". Ya, real fan there Donna.

Welcome aboard. The bandwagon is filling up, but there is still some time before the train leaves the station! :texflag:

I have a picture of myself lifting at a powerlifting meet in 2000 wearing my Texans t-shirt under my singlet.

I <3 the Texans.

And I've <3ed them for a while now.

Even though I'm a newbie here, I've only missed one game since their inception; the Minnesota game, and that was because I won a vacation to Jamaica. If we win next Sunday, I predict that the walk out of the stadium will surpass the one from the 19-10 Cowboys game (and that is my most favorite sports moment ever).

ESPN pointed out tonight that when a team starts 2-0, they make the playoffs 66% of the time! :doot:

I hardly ever post but have been a fan from 02. All the heartache. The great (for us) year of 04 with a real crappy ending. Thinking we get about .500 in 05... not quite. 06-The pummeling we took from the Cowpokes and the Patriots...I was ready to call it a season and then Christmas Eve. It is nice to get some respect now, but I do see the bandwagoners eyeballing us (as they did the Saints last year). I promise you, if we beat Indy, there will be a tide wave of front runner like you've never seen. I guess you got to take to good with the bad.

I posted this on mainsite but it seemed appropriate her as well.

You must be a Texan fan if you have a good week when they win and a bad week if the loose.
You must be a Texan fan if you walk past the Cowboys store and give it the finger.
You must be a Texan fan if your blood boils at the mention of the name Bud Adams.
You must be a Texan fan if you spilled your beer on someone wearing a VY jersey.
Ypu must be a Texan fan if your wife rags on you for posting on this site and you deny addiction...while posting.
You must be a Texan fan if you bring your kid home from the hospital in Texans gear.
You must be a Texan fan if it stil hurts every time you see the Bills come back on ESPN classic.
You must be a Texan fan if you slap a huge sticker on your SUV after a 2-14 season.
You must be a Texan fan if your team on Madden makes it to the superbowl and wins.
You must be a Texan fan if you do not remove your HAND MADE bull mask at the urinal at Reliant.
You must be a Texan fan if you had an usher remove fans wearing bags on their head.
You must be a Texan fan if the highlights of the opening day win over the Cowboys puts tears in your eyes.
