What I hear in this quote is that he is happy to give up his starting QB job to be a back up for Jake Delhomme .
I guess he's admitting that he couldn't stand the heat so he had to get out of the kitchen. I have to give it to him for fessing up that his heart and head weren't in the game, but looking back and reading this, good riddance.

yup. that was the quote I saw on ABC last night. basically he is whining about the draft and the fact that the Texans picked up his option making him a little less than 20 million in the process. Oh life is so hard Davey....how did you manage? Then he talks about how he is happy to be out of there and with a good football team now. He doesnt hold himself accountable whatsoever and if he wants to look at the last 15 months, why doesnt he look at the previous 48 or the fact that he was largely to blame because of his lack of dedication, lack of work ethic, lack of leadership, lack of being a good teammate, and lack of basic rudimentary football skils. KHANNNN!!!!

yup he doesnt carry clipboard, doesnt signal calls into Jake, and doesnt stand with the offensive coaching staff. my friend from STL was at the game and has heard me ***** about Carr for years so he took a special interest in seeing what he was up to. He said Carr talked to no one the whole first half except one teammate and a trainer. He got up when Pace was taken off the field and that was about it. My friend said he didn't celebrate any of the big plays like the rest of the teammates and backups and that he pretty much sat on the bench alone by the Gatorade cooler.
basically just a bad teammate, not 'one of the guys', and its all about David for David.

I am now in a new situtation that is a big change and there is a different culture here. I am very happy to be here. Not saying that you COULDN"T use that stuff as bulletin board material, but come on, He did say {"we" wouldn't have won...."} which includes himself & Capers & Casserly are ripped just as much on here for the moves they made & didn't make for the team- which also included him at the time. the organization somewhat failed him as well.

Don't know if anyone caught Marc and Andre talking about his comments this morning.... But Andre was way down on Carr, saying things like, "Being happy about your situation - as a back-up" speaks volumes about your competiveness.... Andre ragged on him pretty hard (well by Andre standards - anyway).

valid opinion, but I just think the organization did everything they could to help make him look good. he just didnt get the job done. I think Carr failed the Texans more than the Texans failed Carr....but just my opinion of course.
schaub comes in with basically same OL, slightly improved RB corps, and a less proven WR corps and looks a hell of a lot better and in command.
I am glad Carr said what he did. He gave us some fuel for the fire and any good coach will capitalize on this and milk it for whatever he can. sometimes a young team (were youngest team in NFL) can use a little extra motivation and this can only help.

well Andre needs to watch what he says because Andre's career was really8 no better than Carr's and possibly even worse (which is pretty bad). i agree with Andre but momma always said that you don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. I am pretty sure Andre was a backup for a few years after he failed as a starter...was he happy as backup? that is a different story buts its a fine line he is walking....I agree with Andre 100% but hopefully he related Carr's experience and mindset to his own and demonstrated a difference.

That's just the way you took it, he only actually said 1 of those things you named above.
Again, not saying he didn't.... Matter of fact i'll agree that he did fail the organization more just based on how much money was put into him.
But he was put into an almost impossible situation (expansion franchise starting QB) with pretty mcuh league 5th stringers. Virtually the same line is here from his last year, but hell, by then the damage is done. The guy took record setting punishment his 1st couple of years here. Is it really his fault that Capers & co. shuffled /shipped linemen around trying to keep up with injuries & had a gem (weary) right under their nose the entire time that wasn't starting? How about Bringing in bum after bum & what-not? What about that ingenious plan to release all of our old proven veteran players on defense for unproven young guys on defense instead of letting our then 15-17 rated defense take if only a little pressure off of him & the O? Yeah, he wasn't that good, but the texans didn't really help him out as much as everyone claims.
It's proven that getting hit too much ruins QB's either physically or mentally. Ask the now Skittish Kurt Warner & mr concussion Troy Aikman.
Football is the ultimate team sport, you keep thinking that you can do it all yourself...

Hell, you couldn't even play College ball at a high level (Andre did) so I guess you can't say jack about any of these guys using your logic huh? You don't have to be a great Chef to enjoy a good meal...nor do you have to be an engineer to enjoy a well made car.

A few years ago I had one of our well known bloggers come to me and ask who I read when it comes to drafniks....I told this person - nobody really, at least I don't really buy into what most are spewing pre-draft. Most of them just compile lists and parrot the thoughts of others. It's rare than anyone can watch all the prospects and see them enough vs quality opponents to form honest opinions on everyone. Personally, I just watch as much ball as I can and give my takes on the guys I personally see.

I believe the Texans have a shot at winning this game. If they do, I hope some reporter will go up to Carr and ask him if he could have won that game as the Texans QB.
Carr is so stupid, it isn't even funny. He has really set himself up for failure while being a backup QB and not even taking a snap in the regular season. Once Schaub starts to really click with the offense, people will start to think Carr may have been more of the problem than a solution for the Texans. Then once Carr gets in a regular season game and plays the same as he did for the Texans, it will be over.
Carr probably has about 2 more years left in the NFL in my opinion. Sure he is young, but there is zero upside with younger guys showing promise of the future. Besides, Carr has been given so many opportunities that most guys would killed for. Like Adrian said in Rocky III, "There is no tomorrow!".

I get what you are saying. I was just saying that Andre needs to be careful criticizing someone who is a backup when he had a similar career arc to Carr. I qualified my statement in saying that I hoped Andre pointed out that he wanted to be the starter and wasnt happy just being a backup. Andre also had a hell of a lot more success at the college level and there is no question about that. Andre also didn't have the best supporting cast either in Detroit (although he did have a HOF RB in Sanders)
I agree that Carr is a loser though and anyone who has him as a victim really must have been in love with the guy.

I am sick and tired of all of this negativity towards David Carr. He is a great QB and could have lead the Texans to a superbowl someday. The reason he didn't is because of the Texans horrible O - line and not drafting Reggie Bush and .............

sadly, I think he will get another chance post-Panthers. If he doesnt get a shot this year with the Panthers he will probably try and catch on with another team that will give him a shot to compete for starting job. Fox said that Carr was not coming in to compete for starting job with Jake. Carr will look for a better opportunity at some point but will inevitably fail as it is his destiny.

Just because someone wasn't successful in certain field means their opinion isn't relevant to a similar situation? That makes no sense to me. If anything, maybe it makes it more relevant because they know what it takes.
I met Andre at a conference back in 2000 in Austin. He is a really cool guy and we talked a lot about of different things. I was just amazed that I was talking to a Heisman Trophy winner and just shootin it like I do with any other guy.
My opinion, Andre is great announcer for the Texans and his opinion on Carr is probably more valid than yours.

I just hope we win. Everything else is a side story. I'm hoping that we can take what we learned from game one and improve upon it in game two. Becasue the Panthers will be a lot tougher opponent.
Really if this means something to the guys in the locker room that maybe it'll motivate them even more. I think it'd be more fitting if they completely ignored the Carr situation becasue in the end that's what his time meant here. NOTHING. A more fitting epitaph IMO to the entire era and hopefully fans can move on.

The defense has it's share of Carr haters, mostly the guys that were with the team for a few seasons with Carr here. As many times as Carr put them in impossible situations and all the while keeping his job, along with that *******-eating grin he had on the sidelines afterwards, you can bet it bred resentment with some of those guys. We all know how Dunta feels about him, and you can pretty much bank on those comments being brought to their attention.

NFL teams don't have much time to prepare....so they are concentrating on the guys who play. Carr is where he belongs, on the bench. They are busy preparing for Delhomme. I think most guys are just glad that Carr is some other teams weakest link and not ours and not the slightest bit worried or concerned about him.
