How good is Tony Romo?

gtexan02

Working?
Last season when they gave the ball to Romo and let Bledsoe slip into the #2 spot I thought the Cowboys were giving up.

Then he surprised everyone with a miraculous few games, a trip to the probowl, and a notable appearance in the playoffs.

And then he did what everyone was expecting, and he choked. That snap was seen 'round the world, and everyone was expecting him to regress a little.

First regular season game, and he comes out, guns slinging, and throws for 350+ yards, 4 TDs, and scrambles for 1 more.

I know the NYG defense isn't what it used to be, but WOW, those are some gaudy stats. How good is he?

I agree.

I like seeing guys like Romo & Jacoby Jones succeed in the NFL.

It proves that even the guys who are considered too slow or too small for big time college can still compete if they want it bad enough.

The giants d is terrible & what's more is they were dropping like flies out there. Save for Gybril Wilson (Team Tex starting FS :shades: ) no one out there for the D looked like they were ready to play.

He just pads his stats against bad teams (NYG 2007, TB on Thanksgiving 2006) & is marginal against good teams (Philly,NO & Indy 06). There's nothing special about him. he's about as good as his back up was when he was in his prime.

the guy choked on the field goal in the playoffs with the game on the line. that is all you have to tell me about that guy. zero faith.

he can roll up big numbers and maybe even make the playoffs, but who here is deluded enough to think that this guy wouldn't choke like a dog in any big playoff game.

one thing is for sure, Romo put the heat on Jones to sign him before he becomes a Free Agent after this season. He could be really expensive if he keeps putting up numbers like he did Sunday. Atlanta, Detroit, Jets, Giants, Ravens, Vikings, Skins, Panthers, Tampa Bay, and maybe even Buffalo could be in the market for a top QB Free Agent. If I was Jones I would let someone else overpay for him and sign one of the stragglers Culpepper, Leftwich, etc. and draft a QB with one of the 2 1st Round picks in 08 draft.

i will say i like his gunslinger mentality and he throws the ball well into space. he isn't afraid to let it rip, thats for sure.

So the Cowboys should let a Pro Bowl QB walk & replace him with a free agent guy who was cut instead of traded because he had no trade value?

I'm 99% sure that would be taking a step backwards.

And after all the talk on this board about not judging players after one game, only a deluded person would trust Romo in a playoff game because he choked in his first one?

He dropped the snap on a FG & he isnt the holder anymore.

He had a 89.6 QB Rating in that game & he is still the QB.

I dont know what your point of view is, but that looks more like hate than anything else.

I don't consider the Giants a bad team on either side of the ball. Eli is already pretty good and will only get better. Burress, Toomer and Shockey all kept my attention and belief that they were in the game until after the 2 minute warning.

As the season progresses, we will see if Romo does what it takes to demand a new contract. My bet is that he will.

This guy in one of my fantasy leagues got 50 points from Romo yesterday. I was pissed because I was in the lead with 106 points the whole day (Texans Defense, Tom Brady, Andre Johnson, etc.).

That's not exactly how that game played out

I'm guilty!

I'm confident that details of a new contract will be worked out at the appropriate time. Remember, like him or not, Jones is one heck of a businessman. Also, in looking at the above options, I believe his heart and desire is to be the quarterback for the Cowboys.

Hopefully, Jerry will never be striken with Altzheimers.

I like that!:)

lol its a good thing you aren't running any franchises, or you'd be looking for a new job pretty soon.

He dropped 1 snap and thats it? Hes done forever?

What about when Peyton choked time and again in the big game. He finally got over his hump. Romo didn't even play a bad game as a QB. I think id just replace him as holder.

Its easy to talk big like that, but its pretty clear you have no idea what youre talking about

That sounds almost like the league I'm in. My opponent had Brady as well and at the beginning of the game last night I was down about about 101 to about 38. Then Romo kicked in with 51, TO 20, and Marion Barber's numbers (I forgot), I am now up by 14 and done. My opponent has T. J. Houshmandzadeh tonight, and I can only home he has limited play and be held for less than the 14.
