I notice we always seem to have a good number of people logged into Texans Talk. Compared to the "official" boards, we're at least 10 to 20 times more active here. Just wanted to thank Hook'em and all the others involved in TT for the great job and home they provide all of us who either are screwing off at work, or have no life (Said I).

It used to be the opposite till the Texans "braintrust" destroyed that/this place (it wasn't Nicks call for the record...he fought hard for you guys)....frankly it's all for the best now. Most of the season ticket holders and the rabid tailgaters came here when all that went down...the official site filled up with kids on summer vacation (not that there is anything wrong with that) and the youngsters far outnumber the people spending money on the team. We won't destroy the fans social network on a whim and without asking anyone what they thought...they have done it several times at houstontexans.com
 
When this board used to be the official board before the switch, it used to be even bigger. Of course, there were more trolls too though. I <3 this board

I don't even go to the other board any longer. I tried to the other day, and I couldn't even log on! Like I was booted out or something. Oh well, just was more for morbid curiosity more than anything. :gun:

all you have to do ask for help...some of the accounts were corrupted when they migrated accounts. I can't fix them unless I know about them.
 
It'll just get bigger and bigger with each win. We've got most of the hardcore fans accounted for, so now we drive the bus that pulls the bandwagon. Everyone is always invited to jump on it.

No doubt, it seems trafiic is up a good 10 to 20 users from this time last week.

Althought I don't think we'll ever pass the "most users logged in record" of what...near 1500 the Friday before the 06 draft.
 
The online fan community is now where it should be, in the hands of the fans. Honestly, this is what I wanted TexansTalk.com to be all along and it has all worked out. Most of the long time Texans Talk clan that were initially upset about the change have come back and probably all agree things are better now. The trolling here is now much less than it was at TexansTalk.com before the change, and is much less than it currently is at the official board. Traffic here has increased over 10 times what it was before. Due to this the monthly hosting expenses have went way up but many of the fans have contributed to offset this. Again, I want to thank all that have contributed. We are also looking at some subtle ways to bring in some advertising dollars to take the increased cost burden off of me and the fans. However I am being very picky about that. For example, I just turned down a good bit of ad revenue because the company wanting ad space was connected to sports gambling and I refuse to have anything related to sports gambling on this site.
 
Maybe KEYE can put in some ad space?

Just a thought...but patches with the TexansTalk bull would be cool. I'd buy one and put it on my jersey.

Wow, didn't know that you were still involved with the other board Vin! I hope that the comment I made didn't come across as a shot at you or the powers that be, just more or less a conversational tidbit for the sake of humor.

I like what you've done here, and don't see any need on my part to look anywhere else. :cool:

I was so disappointed when I left the "official" board after it made all it's changes...in fact, I left and never thought about coming back. Then TA called me one night and said, "Dude get back on the boards over at Texanstalk...it's the same board...it's back."

The rest, as they say, is history.

I still run it and I just banned (more like a "time out") a couple of the new kids who think houstontexans.com is a high school cafeteria....over the long haul it's more work than this site if you want the truth. Most of the fans here know this board is full of adults and we have enough peer pressure to keep the others (noobs, rival trolls and our own trolls) in line without having to have the mods step in too much...kudos to the long timers.
 
I'll be the first to admit from the old Texan's Talk gang the changes have been great. Many us were very sceptical at first with (me included) with our familiar surroundings and friends that we had made. We all held our breath watching the transition and trusting Kevin and Vinny and the other mod's and I have to tell you it has been wonderful making even more new friends and reading other's perspectives on many of the different topics of the day!!!!. :)

I came here one day and noticed that it looked very familiar to the old board. Curiosity led me to attempt to log in, and boom! It worked!

Gratz on the transition (which seems so long ago) and keep on doing what you do. I may not agree with the POV of some of the mods on here on many subjects, but I respect all the work you do (and the fact that you don't ban me when I say stupid things).
