Simmons ??

I think he tore his his patellar tendon. Too bad for Simmons...I thought he was playing a hell of a game before he got hurt. He finally gets his NFL start, starts playing well and wham....the unkind finger of fate.

Unofficial obviously, but heard Marc and Andre talking about Simmons this morning... sounds like he is done for the season.

Texans | Simmons to be placed on IR
Mon, 10 Sep 2007 10:18:43 -0700

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports Houston Texans FS Jason Simmons (knee) will be placed on Injured Reserve after he tore the patella tendon of his left knee Week 1.

I'm now curious as to who replaces him on the 53 man roster.

I have been wondering the same thing all morning. I would like to see them bring in another secondary player off of waivers but my next hope would be for Darius Walker to come up form the practice squad. I really want another look at this kid.

I would guess Brandon Mitchell or Harrison. Aren't both on the practice squad??

I could have sworn that I saw Mitchell on the sidelines yesterday... And I believe Harrison is either on the IR or the PUP...

Harrison is on IR, so I guess that would leave either Mitchell, bringing in a player from Free Agency, or bringing a different guy up from the practice squad at a different position. I am banking on Free Agency myself.

I don't know what level of player you are going to get with a street FA in week 2 of the season. I know one thing. Safety was already our weakest position and they are dropping like flies. I forgot about Harrison. And then losing Earl and Simmons both is a real blow. We cannot afford any other major injuries at safety if they intend on being a +500 team.

Robert Griffith and Nick Sorensen are both up grades to Von Hutchins and CC Brown in my opinion.

Artrel Hawkins is available, as is Gattis, and a couple of other veteran safeties. On the other hand I think that nearly everybody available might have an injury issue, maybe nothing major but lingering issues on older players.

Maybe they can revive the trade for Weasley...who knows.

But I trust in Rick Smith.

The Titans cut LaMont Thompson last week. He's not great, but we're talking about a backup safety. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing Mitchell activated. He played well against 3rd stringers in the preseason and looks the part.

This is not the kind of talk we need right now.

we can still look at another teams PS correct? the only catch is that he must be signed on to our active roster, i believe. smith will find someone for us somewhere
