rewatch kc game

utahmark

some things i noticed in the first quarter.

mario looked active. got good pressure on the qb on a quick slant was the only time that he really dominated his man.

oline held up well especially in pass protection. mckinney got beat some in this game but not in the first quarter he was solid. one play where they got up the middle and batted down a pass wasnt mckinney's fault play looked like a wr screen and he attentionally left his man to go block downfield, guy just got pressure quicker than they thought.

wasnt much of a run game diff to tell why. for the most part our guys were getting their blocks, kc seemed to be looking for the run their safteys seemed to be getting to the line pretty quick. i did see pitts miss a block that resulted in a tackle for a short gain, it was a diff assignment though he had to run across the line and block a guy in space.

okoye didnt do much.

aj didnt do a good job on the int. looked like he could of played defender and broke that one up.

cowboy commercial was funny.

we got a hot cheerleader ive never seen before.

ill go watch the second quarter.

our run game doesnt look all that great. take away 20 yards from green's stats, that run play at the end of the half was a gimmie.

the best blocking ive ever seen from the texans was on aj's td pass. all day

aj droped another pass his second drop of the day. our best offensive player but not great hands or ball skills.

mckinney got abused we still need a center. three diff plays he got completly manhandled. one for a loss, once for a sack, forget what happened on the other one.

chester pitts isnt playing so well either. most of his mistakes are mental. completly overran his block one play had to turn and hold the guy. play late in half where mckinney got abused chester was inbetween him and salaam each looked to be stopping his guy. pitts takes off to help salaam, mckinney gets thrown out of the way then a sack. pitts could of stayed where he was and been in position to help either player instead he takes himself out of position and that results in a sack.

thats about 3 really bad plays by him and then i catch him downfield a couple of time making great blocks to add yards to running plays. he needs to get more consistant.

gonna cook some burgers. probably do second half later.

I agree. IMO, this was a bland game by the Texans against a inferior team. Some good things, some bad things. I really think the Chiefs are in for a long year. Guess I should be more excited, but somehow this felt like a lunchpail game, where the Texans just took care of business.

dont get me wrong, i think we played well. just most people notice the great plays and i mainly keep my attention on the o-line and d-line. if i dont mention an o-lineman that usually means he's doing a good job.

after 5 years of losing im not gonna claim to be better than any team. hopefully we can just prove it on the field.

3rd

mario 2 sacks a fumble recovery and a td.

although mario didnt get the initial presure he was doubled on both sacks and got enough penetration to get the sack once the qb stepped up to avoid the pressure. mario got some pressure other than his sacks and had a monster quarter.

weary got away with a hold.

salaam got called for a hold he didnt commit.

i saw a couple of plays where the defense got to the qb without anyone blocking them. maybe one was on a bootleg that didnt fake anyone and another where there just wasnt enough blockers. those are on the coaching staff and shouldnt happen.

faggins needs to play the ball.

overall i saw a good game plan executed well. not a lot of great plays but a lot of solid play and not to many mistakes.

aj 1 fumble, 2 drops and had a ball int in front of him, through 3 quarters. any other player on our team has a game like he did and i leave these things out, but i expect more from him.

probably wont do the 4th, at least not tonight. i know your all very dissapointed.

I'm with you in sentiment, but any other player on our team probably doesn't atone to the tune of 142 yds and a TD. As long as the drops don't come at a particularly bad time, I think we're going to have to overlook them.

I totally agree with the comment about needing a center. McKinney was tossed around quiet a few times. Sad...

Uhhh. I think a 10 minute 26 second drive at the end of the 3rd and half of the 4th quarters says otherwise. IMO The Texans ran the ball pretty well. It took them a couple of possesions to get going. I attribute that to the customary 15 play beginning of the game script.

The important thing, is that it was a convincing win. We're still a young team, that needs to learn how to win.

Beat the teams you should beat. Dominate bad teams... etc, etc...

In years past, this would have been a 6-3 win for the Texans, if not a 10-17 loss. But yesterday, even with a lead, even after multiple sacks, even though we couldn't "really" run the ball... we played for 60 minutes. We didn't get comfortable with a one touchdown lead. We didn't call the dogs off in the second half. There was a sense of urgency on every play.

This is what the Giants game & the Browns game should have looked like last year. We're basically the same team. The Giants played poorly, and we lost. The Browns was a team in turmoil, and we made them look like play-off contenders.

There were lots of things we could have done better yesterday, But I'm very pleased with the way we played.
