Texan Recievers

Alot of talk about Corey Bradford not returing and the Texans going after a WR in the second round of the draft maybe. So what about Terrence Murphy from Texas A&M? He is about 6-1 190, runs a 4.4 and has a great vert. Just spit balling but he may fit and is a Texas boy so I don't think he would mind.

I doubt we take a WR in the second round. We have greater needs. If we take a WR in the draft it will be in the later rounds or we may even look in free agency.

Mike Williams in the first or move up for DJ.

Defense in all other rounds

OL (LT or LG and Center) in Free Agency.

I'm sorry but I don't think any offensive lineman in the draft is going to give Houston the immediate help they need. They need EXPERIENCED linemen to protect Carr.

If we can somehow get the protection to solidify the line and acquire another awesome target like Williams, it would turn the offense around dramatically. Just MO.

The funny part is they are all expirienced on the line right now. Except for Wand who did an OK job at LT. So its hard to say its experience. Maybe just pure strength and skill.

Dont forget Starling people. Chris Palmer said he has the most potential of any WR on the team, including AJ. I would love to see what Starling can do next year in Bradfords role. If we do take a WR, it will be at the end of the draft...

yeah that is hard to believe

i'm sure one of armstrong/sloan thomas/kendrick starling can fill bradford's role next year

OK--need a source for that--not buying it.
during the preseason, the annoucers said that Palmer said that Starling has the most potential of any WR on the team, including AJ. It has been stuck in my head ever since...

I remember someone on the MB mentioning that...might have been you, I can't remember. But it was a little strange to hear.

I don't think we need rookie WRs. We have young guys, and hopefully Starling or Sloan can put it together and contribute.

i agree, i'd like to see Armstrong get more consistant playing time. Maybe invest a second day pick on the position if that.

whether he said it or not.. Starling showed some promise and is fast.. so he could be our deep threat next season.

I remember watching the Texans coverage this preseason on some channel and Chris Palmer did indeed say that.

Most likely will the next WR will be Starling or Armstrong. I like them both so they wi9ll have to batlle for the position.

Ha, we need a WR more than you all think. If Bradford leaves, that hurts us on the deep ball. Yes Andre is a good deep ball guy, but Gaffney? Not really, Armstrong? Not really. Gaffney is a solid slot receiver with good hands. Armstrong has showed a little but I'm still unsure on him. David Carr needs another big playmaker on that receiving core. I would much rather get one out of free agency though...... We also need a TE, I would love to have one like Jason Witten. Solid blocker, and good hands.

are we talking about the bradford who had less than 400 yards and less than two and a half catches per game?

starling, thomas or gaffney better do that by the the beginning of november or we should ship'em out

corey and I had the same number of games with 4 catches last season

please explain how a deep threat will help with our lack of pass protection?
or
please explain exactly what bradford did this year that would be missed?

we need Big Play Trey Haverty late on day two, and not to waste a first day pick on a reciever that will make little if any impact next year

No offense to Mr Bradford, but I would love to see "Spiderman" Armstrong take his place any day. I have enjoyed the time he got to play and always catches the ball. He was even quoted one time saying something like" I am here to catch I dont get caught up in the other stats etc, this is a team game regardless"

If we get our running game going, Johnson is all the deep threat we need. the point of a deep threat is to spread the field and stretch out the defense. Having a dominant run game that forces them to stack the box would have the same effect, since they would either have to cover deep to stop johnson, or stack the box to stop DD.

Either way, Starling is a legitimate deep threat I beleive.. i dont have is 40 times, but i think he is fast. And his hands cant be any worse than Bradfords.

If we take a WR.. i see us taking one in the 4th, maybe late 3rd.. and it wont be a guy we expect to be a starter.. it will be a guy with speed who can do returns for us, as well as function as a #5 guy.

and I agree that Armstrong should be our #3 guy. deep threats are great.. but playmakers are better.. and Armstrong seems like a playmaker to me.

This best does not need more youth at WR, it needs more experience someone who will give leadership to the corp.
