AFC South QB article

I really liked this players' game at the college level, and in fact rated him second behind Philip Rivers and ahead of both Eli Manning and the Bills' J.P. Losman in my overall ratings for the St. Louis Rams as a pro scout. But two statements must be made and three questions satisfactorily answered before a proper evaluation can be given regarding this quarterback:

1. A totally new system of play and new offensive coordinator could adversely affect his play, particularly early on, and can't be overlooked.

this is where the guy lost me. "totally new system of play" ? come on...

2. Game competition pressure is distinctly different for starters than it is for quarterbacks performing in a back-up or mop-up role.

this is just a general statement that gets a "DUH" response

3) Have the Texans surrounded Matt with enough offensive skill athletes to finally compete in the highly competitive AFC South?

#3 can be answered with AJ, Green, and J Jones

4) Has an offensive front line (that has been the worst in the league over the last five years) been fortified enough to allow Matt the necessary time to function within the offense?

too much ESPiN?

5) Does he have the mobility and throwing skills to compete at a championship level?

#5 is the only question worth posing but ONLY because he included the phrase "championship level"

this was posted 8-30-07 with enough time to watch a few of the preseason games and do a little research.

Leftwich is gone. VY has questionable supporting cast. Manning is Manning. I like Schaubs chances of ending up with the #2 spot by the end of the season.

Leftwich being #2 on this list made him lose all credibility with me, even if this is before he got released.

no kiddin! I think it's tough to rate Matt since he doesn't have much starting experience... but Vince in my mind was clearly ahead of Byron.

The guy lost me when he ranked Leftwich #2....come on....I thought this guy was a pro scout. Schaub is the undisputed starter here in Houston, Leftwich wasn't even sure is he was going to play. His mechanics are terrible and his mobilty is unimpressive.

1. Manning
2. Schaub
3. Young
4. Garrard

Cant leave Daniels off that list.

LMAO. He has Leftwich rated as 2nd best, and he is so worthy of that ranking that the Jags cut him from the roster.

Hey, Mr. Preposterous QB ranker, this Bud's for you! :splits:
